I don't think I'll make it through this series. Fucking insane.

Ah well, it was nice to see Mussina finally get some run support and a victory.

seriously. i barely got through game 1, too many fuckin highs and lows.

the red sox are dangerous i would feel somewhat better if they can get a win against pedro tomorrow. i know its asking for a lot but 3 games in fenway scare me.

Apparently the Bo Sox mangers forget that you should put your closer in in a situation where you need a key out to protect a lead/keep it close. Foulke was ready and he stayed with Timlin... good job idot.

This series is going to be insane! I wonder how Boston fans can still live with all that stress from not winning. There must be some statistics SOMEWHERE kept on cause of death: Death by Red Sox losses.

They sure gave us a run for the money tonight. That's for sure.

Oh yeah, Mussina got a win. :D Sad he didn't get the perfect game. Just can't get one against the Red Sox Moose.

LOL! It's the number 2 cause of death in Boston... LOL Yeah these games are crazy (especially how I have midterms and these things go so late) but nothing beats baseball.

Well, every series lately that the Stanks have lost game 1 they've gone on to win. So naturally, this garauntees victory for the Sawx.

OMG these games are so crazy. I have Acid Reflux and this series is going to make it act up like crazy. I'm nervous in an 8-0 game because Moose has the perfect game going, then the Red Sox make a run and it gets so much worse. Thank god we got the win though, it's going to keep me sane through the night. I can't imagine what a RedSox fan in the same situation might be feeling, all that pain, and a loss on top of it.

I don't know how long you've been on GA? *assuming by your join date...you were here before the move*

So, you should know I'm a pretty big sox fan...assuming you meant me. :p

I'm a Stro's fan above all else...but Sox are my #2 team.

i was being kind of sarcastic, but still...

i didnt get excited when the sox won game 1 last year, and i'm not worried that they lost game 1 this year.

remember, its a marathon, not a sprint.

The Yanks lost the World Series last year. That was only 2 series ago for them.

goddamit, Griese!
that really sucks both games are gonna be on at the same time tomorrow. doesn't effect my multiple tv ass, but it's just stupid. i'd have one at 5 and the other at 8. or figure out something.

Godzilla did as he was told tonight. He crushed the ball to smitherines.

Thank God for tonight's win, or else I'd be depressed as hell. The almost blown lead bothers me though--but at least it keeps the Yanks on their toes. Game 1 win blowout, would kinda be bad for morale.

GO YANKS!!!

Moose was fucking beautiful!

I think Tom and Tanyon have been off.. Mo's the only one we can rely on.. kinda sad.. I hope Quantrill is up for some innings.

i pray duque can make a start this series. A) he's a stud in the post season B) that means either brown or vazquez can come out of the bullpen.

"If I can't go out there with something better than tonight I am not going back out there," Schilling said. "It's not about me, it's about winning a world championship. If I can't do better than that, I won't take the ball again."
WOOOO!

Listen to Kevin Millar talk about Derek Jeter.

"As weird as it sounds, Derek Jeter, taking aside that I play for the Red Sox and I'm a major-league baseball player, being a baseball fan, that's the best player that I've seen play the game," the Red Sox first baseman said last night before the Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the ALCS with a 10-7 win.

"We all want to see the back of a baseball card and see 40 [home runs] and 140 [RBIs] and .340 [batting average] and all that.

"That's great. But this guy, he makes his teammates around him better. He's a winner, and that's what it takes at this level.

"Why he raises his level this time of the year, I don't know how. But the great ones always do."

OMFG...sooo fucking bullshit. Put Jeter on this year's Dbacks and see what happens. :p

Damn, that was a good game (after the 7th) last night. Thats how good the Sox are. Even the Yanks respect.

Going into Fenway tied at 1 will be a perfect scenario. I just hope the rain passes Friday night to wrap it up Sunday at home. Winning the pennant in Yankee Stadium will be nice but Boston deserves to have it at home. :D

Julian "Pine Tar" Tavarez with a little bulletin board material for the 'Stros
Still, everyone wasn't totally diplomatic on Tuesday, the day before the series began. Cardinals setup man Julian Tavarez pulled no punches when assessing the relative strengths of the teams.

``We don't look at the Houston Astros like this is a great team,'' Tavarez said. ``They are good but we are better than them.

``We are the best because we've got 108 wins. We've proved it. We are the best.''

Thanks Jules...

i think everyone that isn't a yankee fan here is a sox fan.

I am from Brooklyn, come from hardcore Dodger stock and love the Mets, thus I LOATHE the Yankees. But don't like the Sox either. Their pathetic inferiority complex and anti-New York, rather than anti-Yankee, rhetoric is nothing I care for. Quite frankly I find their delusional self-pity and ongoing cheap soapopera melodrama boring and if you're going to pop as much junk as they do about the Yanks, you should back it up when it counts once in a while. People only talk about Grady Little leaving Pedro in last year as the reason they lost, but that only tied the game. They had four innings to win it and didn't; it's hard to respect a team that has choked every single time it's counted.

Can we make burgers at your house Saturday and watch the game?

I gave a lot of thought to the game last night (after regaining consciousness).

1. I think Tanyon Sturtze needs to spend less time pitching and more time cleaning Mariano Rivera's pool. Seriosuly, Quantrill's arm doesn't die and that's his spot. Sturtze did earn it, but Varitek was due. This is definitely the situation that being devoid of a good lefty arm leaves you. Not good.

2. Gordon's got the pop on the fastball, I'm hoping he rebounds and it's just a location problem.

3. Would it hurt so much for 1 great play in the Yankee outfield? Just one this season would be nice. Sheffields got a gun, but nobody ever makes the great game saving catch out there.

4. Mussina was obviously rattled after he gave up the hit on an 0-2 count (or was it 1-2?). That broke his whole rhythm. I'm not sure what happened there, but that definitely wasn't the pitch he wanted to throw. Other than that, he pitched great.

And that's enough for now I guess.

I don't think I'm going to last if the rest are like this.

What a game. Being a moderate Yank fan, (hey, I'm a NYer) - I was really emotionally moved by Rivera (my fav)'s performance yesterday.

Funny that all my female friends and my wife love Rivera, but they all hate Jeter for some reason. ;) I think he's a great player, though. As a captain, he does really lead the team very well, not to mention he's the one of the few true Yankees. :)

Let's go Yankees! (although tough matchup against pedro tonight.. crossing my fingers.)

actually, I was thrilled to see the game in HD, and dolby digital. :) Since I'm not much of NFL fan - it was really refreshing to see a baseball game in HD on my first HDTV. :)

I'm gonna be at Live Sports Cafe downtown on saturday...not that I'd invite any of you to my house anyway. Considering it's not really my house...and I don't think my dad would appreciate me bringing over a bunch of people he (and I) have never met. If I had my own home, it might be a different story. :p

seriously, wtf is that? I'm glad I have satellite and multiple tvs down here or I'd be pissed that I'd miss the Yanks game.

Yeah, not every team can be the Red Sox. Triple relay was the greatest play ever.

7:32 -- Following a two-out single from Ortiz, McCarver mentions how this inning could give the Boston offense something to build on, then promotes "Brandon Arroyo against Pedro Martinez in Game 2 tomorrow night." Wow. Poor Buck has to issue the rare double correction. Now you know what it would be like if my Mom was a baseball analyst.

:lol SOMEONE FUCKING GET TIM MCCRAPPER OUT OF THE BOOTH

aah, i dont mind when they mess up names.... it's when they start to blatantly cheering for one side or the other that it ticks me off.
p.s: repent for your baseball sins miguel.

:lol

He did it about 3 times...all 3 times...Buck had to correct him. Not to mention he is to baseball what John Madden is to football...minus the comedy.

i cant wait to see the pedro/sheffield matchup. let's see if pedro has the marbles to pitch him high and tight after sheffield pretty much guaranteed a murder at the mound if pedro hit him again.
