The Screen Savers is officially dead...

Ironically I actually watched TSS for the first time last night. I thought it wasn't bad, I enjoyed it enough to at least try the new show. Of course some of the eps last night was uninteresting to me (just the nature of those sorts of shows) but the idea of renting a German to guard your rented plot of Ireland was dumb enough to make me laugh a bit. Neither of the hosts bugged me that much, but my wife took an immediate dislike to the blond woman (so she gets lumped into the 98% of all females everywhere whom my wife dislikes for no earthly reason I can understand).

Mainly, I'm trying to justify keeping G4 as one of my 5-pack of digital channels since I almost never watch it so I decided to watch a few of the shows. ;) Either NHL Network or G4 is getting sacrificed for the Documentary Channel, so either NHLnet has to start replaying classic games I want to see or G4 has to convince me it has something worth watching until E3.

Its OK I was just informing Mana on why he is believing this other Kevin just because he is the most recent to post and he is using his name as well( a reason Mana judged me on when claiming I was a "fake"). That is all.

Dude, take the quotation marks off of that. You are as the admins renamed you.

Download all the Icons episodes. Can G4. You won't miss it.

Sounds like some sort of jealousy going on there.

No, I claimed you were fake because you failed to ever provide the mods with proof that you really were Kevin P, and thus they renamed you. I believe they also did an IP check on you and found that you were posting from some college in the midwest or something. Give it up.

What for?

First time I was on the day Windows 98 launched. It was a taped bit where strapping reporter David Spark went to locations in the City where there were lines, like the DMV and coffee shops and asked people if they were waiting in line for Windows 98. I played a crazed Bill Gates fan who kept popping up, yelling "Whoo! Windows!" At the end of SS, I appeared in the studio, yelling "Whoo! Windows!" to Leo and Kate. Then, afterwards, I got to have dinner with that guy who came up with Linux. Whoo!

In 99, I was writer for "Austin Powers: Operation Trivia," a trivia game from Berkeley Systems (R.I.P.) Myself and a few other writers hung out in the studio with Leo, Kate and a giant cut out of Austin Powers. Lot of fun. At the end we stood in front of a computer answering questions from the chatroom. Of course the only dialogue in the ZDTV chatroom were kids typing: KATE KATE KATE KATE!

I have mixed feelings about Screen Savers over the years. I never watched the Kate years, but tuned in for the Leo + dozen others years.

I think it's wrong to focuse in on the hosts as any part of the problem with the show. Can't say about Kate, but the other hosts including Leo (the dirty old man) had their share of annoyances. Clearly, the problem with the show now is that it no longer has anything to do with the title. It's not about helping folks with computers. It hasn't saved any screens since G4 took over.

Even in the "golden years", there were many times I screamed at the TV for hearing stupid crap from them. but then again, they did get stuff right most of the time. The anti-MS / pro Apple slant the show had going was annoying, but I'm sure many others loved it. The show got away with alot of grey stuff, like most of Kevin R's dark tipping stuff. How many times did that fool give himself away on the show with evidence of illegal crap, I can't even count! (BTW, Rose is a fine haXX0r/script kiddy, but far far from a good host material)

Leo was a good host, knowledgable and had good intentions, but his lecherous dirty old man habits got really creepy towards the end. I get a feeling that this was why he and Tech TV departed ways.

Patrick was a fine co-host. Also very knowledgable and amiable. A bit too smiley is the worst I can say about him.

The year or two before the talke over, there were a few pretty girls with no geeky brain to speak of that came and went. Corbin I think was one of them. Didn't know shit from elbows. Got Leo horny and in troble and that was about it. One of them came over to G4's SS as a co-host. Still useless, and not all that pretty too boot.

Ironically, I think Kevin P is the one of the current show's few bright spots left. Rose and the useless girl duo was about to do the show in for good in my eyes and then Kevin P entered the picture and made things a bit interesting. It's still headed for a slide, but at least Kevin P is making it somewhat interesting and watchable while it's slides to it's inevitable doom.

And the doom is in sight. 28th is the new show. Screen Savers will be gone for good. Maybe the new show, having shed completly of it's old Screen Savers costume will morph into a fine watchable show on it's own right. Chances of that are slim if Rose and his useless girlfriend is still in tow, IMO.

I'm sorry, but I hate the number of reruns that show has up here. Why would they run over ANIME UNLEASHED? ;_;

Apparently the CDRC (Canadian broadcasting regulator) thinks we're not mature enough to decide what we want to watch. Plus I think there are also some liscencing issues involved as well (but don't quote me on that, not even 80% sure about that one).
