The Sega Neptune (Genesis/32X combo) now exists and you can have one

Which is wild considering Sega never released the Neptune and only like two prototypes are known to exist

so Cosam the Great, the modder that is recreating a fully functional SNES CD, recreated the entire Neptune PCB using all Sega parts and now the files for the PCB are public and ready to use. Plus a case for the Neptune that looks every bit as "Neptune" as Sega's official product

Gotta be pretty proficient with a soldering iron but the Sega Neptune finally sees a release just almost three decades late

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I'd buy one if like... Analogue put it out in a nicely-built piece of kit. I'm not enthusiastic about having to Frankenstein one of these things together on my own.

Oh man, that's awesome!

On a related note, I totally fell for EGM's 2001 April Fools joke about Sega Neptune systems being found in a warehouse/available for sale:

I begged my mom to let me order one as a birthday gift but when I went to the website it was just a page that said 'APRIL FOOLS!' with a counter showing how many people had fallen for the joke.
I was pissed but at least my mom got a good laugh out of it! lol

The most recent main title I played was VII, what's the newest one? I think it's Sister vs Sister, is it any good?

edit: was supposed to be quoting PSFan PSFan

I still think the 32X was Sega's dumbest moment as a hardware manufacture. Nothing else comes close. The 32x really helped destroy the Saturn in the NA market, retailers were thrown off by the announcement of the early release of the Saturn. Which caused the 32x to be dumped and sold at fire sale prices. I never owned a 32x back in the day, despite owning a Game Gear, Genesis, Sega CD, and Dreamcast. I still can't justify owning one in a retro collector sense.

I guess this was going to replace the MegaDrive by offering a more integrated/cheaper solution. I can see why they canned it, since it would have caused confusion with the Saturn, plus the last thing Sega needed was another console SKU/Revision. Shame because it looks rather sleek and might have worked better if it was branded as the Model 3 MegaDrive (before the TecToy version came out)
