Between Microsoft and ubisoft.
Microsoft has the cash to make things worse for everyone, luckily phil was at the helm.
Ubisoft just makes shitty games with shitty monetization, a single player game does not need microtransactions.

Nope... I dont... 4 good games in a 5 year gen is ridiculous from a publisher I considered to be the best in the two previous gens. And of this 4 games only Astrobot for me is like a 9-10 game. Demons souls is a remake, GT7 is a crossgen sequel good but nothing we didn't had before, Rise of the Ronin is a fun 7-8 game with very low production values, Helldivers 2 I cant comment, never played since MP is not my thing, but its success is undeniable. The rest ? A stream of subpar sequels, nobody asked for remasters/remakes, wokeness and failed gaas projects and decisions.

So Sony is the worst publisher this gen ? Definitely not... but its the most disappointing by a freaking mile.

Imo of course.

Edir: I forgot about returnal, its fun for like 4 hours.
They've developed some truly great games, I have no issues with them from that perspective.

But as a publisher they're annoying to me. They've started doing PC ports, which is great, but there is no consistency in how long you have to wait for PC versions. Sometimes it's a year, sometimes 5 years, sometimes you might have to wait til the end of time, I guess. And sometimes the port sucks so you feel like you should've played it on PS instead 5 years earlier… Which I often end up doing and end up paying twice for the games. 😤

Capcom being in this list is braindead.

Most of the others are on the same level, but WB takes it I think.
Didn't give Gotham knights the post launch support it needed.
Didn't give hogwarts legacy the post launch support it deserved for an easy slam dunk, instead going with some stupid quidditch game
Horrible post launch support for suicide squad, instead of pivoting sharply they dug their heels in because of the delusion of live service money
Launched multiversus, killed it, brought it back as a game that was somehow worse, killed it again, killed the studio, killed monolith too for some reason.
Mortal Kombat getting worse with every new entry.
Launching mobile games that are banned in some countries because of lootbox/gambling laws
That goddamn nemesis system patent.

Ubisoft. Just because they don't have a single redeemable title right now. If any it would be Crew Motorsport. But even that title has its own controversy with "pro government-regulation gamers".

EA at least has WRC and F1. Dead Space Remake is decent, and the Star Wars Souls game isn't offensive. Sony comes closer than I would have expected tbh. Just looking at PS5-only generation. For them it's more of a missed potential strike rather than an evil or sheer retardation strike. Now the fact that EA ended WRC and signaled the end of similar titles, it's a bad look. Ubi is just already there and executing the moves that EA is signaling. At least there are good current gen EA games. Ubi doesn't even have that.

Ubisoft by a long distance, The CEO is an out of touch dinosaur who is killing the company his latest comments are genuinely ridiculous, Blaming everything and everyone for why their games flopped instead of accepting they're shit and need to improve steadfast.

Standards have slipped into disaster territory and they haven't released a good game in years. I'm amazed they still exist.

Anyone understand AI in the tech industry understand why MS behaved the way they did. How did Schedule 1 get a free pass using AI and benefit from it in the most possible way in uneven competition with corporate giants like MS and Sony who are supposed to understand tech better than most people and know how to counter AI several steps ahead in the industry?

Warner Bros. > Microsoft > Ubisoft > EA > Capcom > Square Enix > Nintendo > Sega > Konami > BNE > SIE

sorry, not sorry

The generation isn't over yet.
Sometimes in football you know the champion in like february even though the season lasts till may. It's just no longer mathematically possible for others to catch up. Same thing here. Ubisoft is so far ahead that no one can cstch up before the gen ends.

Microsoft, WB, and Ubi are the unholy trinity of shittiness

Ubi at least had that awesome Prince of Persia game last year, I don't remember the last new game from WB that I cared for, and while MS does put out a lot of good games due to the number of studios and IPs it owns, the company's practices with everything else makes them an easy winner for the most disappointing worst publisher of the generation.

Capcom and Sony have been mild disappointments, because last generation both were my favourites, and this generation both have struggled to capitalize on their wins as much.

Konami and Square Enix are my most improved publishers, because both have become very good over the last few years after a near decade of declining relevance.

Nintendo and Sega continue to remain at the top of my list of beloved publishers for the second generation running.

I'm torn between Ubisoft, Sony, and MS.

I'm was leaning to Sony for how few games they have published so far but the ones they did were pretty solid quality.

Ubisoft has pushed out lots of games in all honesty but were all the same damn game and had some … odd choices in the

MS on the other hand had loads of studios get messed up but started publishing on different platforms which is great.

Decisions decisions…

I'd actually put this competition between Ubisoft, EA, and 2K games. EA and 2K have basically ruined all sports titles with unbelievable amounts of MTX, shutting servers down on games only two years old, etc.... Ubisoft just keep pumping out shittier and shittier games.

Close run thing this vote. I could make a case for all of these and I never thought I would be able to put Nintendo in the shit publisher bracket, but 80/game is just terrible.

Sony have been a shadow of last gen, blame it on pandemic etc but they haven't been able to publish enough and the gaas push has been awful for a single player gamer like me.

Ubi are always a strong contender every year.

But for me MS edges out all of them for the sheer number of awful things they've foisted onto the industry.

Congratulations MS you deserve the award.

I voted Warner Bros.

Ubisoft at least releases games and they tend to be fun enough if you turn your brain off.. and I enjoyed Assassins Creed Shadows.

Warner Bros have actually no idea what they're doing and what they want to do

Indie developers are not microsoft developers so people should not expect to get their games for free, this is an idiotic excuse.

Microsoft players probably also have a second console so they have familiarity with paying for games and even saying this is absolutely idiotic, are microsoft clients 4 years old that can distinguish between gamepass offer and external games they have to pay for? This is like that politician talking about black kids and computers...xboys are fucking retarded apparently and can't distinguish elementary stuff :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

No offense, but this sound stupid to me.

We can criticize microsoft for everything but gamepas fucking up third parties because their clients have zero brain is beyond hilarious.
I dont think is that simple .... when you have a ample catalog of games and you know that every game has a chance of popping up on the service its very very easy to just play what they give you and wait for the rest.. sure eventually something will appear that you will have to buy because FOMO but usually this us going to be huge third party games likes Baldurs Gate 3 or like I said AssCreed... imo idiotic is thinking that streaming dosent affect buying habits... its like saying NETFLIX and Co. Dosent have an impact on the movie Theater business. Anyway we can agree to disagree on this matter.

I understand your point but i still not agree with being completely M fault because their clients have some bullshit expectations...

I have netflix, it doesn't mean that i'm not gonna buy a month of crunchyroll or a blueray to watch a new anime or movie.

I guess it depends on how much of an hardcore gamer you are, for me, waiting for an hyped game that i followed for years to be available on gamepass is absurd to even say out loud.

I love the ufc, i could buy their package where you get a couple of months old fights, but i still want to pay for some cards because i want to watch the match NOW, not in a couple of months.

1. EA (by a country mile; any company voted the worst to work for in the US deserves this, this was across ALL sectors btw, not just gaming. Also they basically invented loot boxes, scaled MTXs across the industry, pioneered the brain damaged publisher strategy of systematically ruining AAA single-player game studios by forcing them to pivot to work on GaaS slop *cough* Anthem etc etc)

2. WB (inept, followed EAs playbook of games mismanagement, fucked their Golden Goose (Arkham) and basically ignored their new one (Hogwarts) because they have no respect for how to cultivate and support talent to grow success)

3. Microsoft (fucked their entire console platform, bought up half the industry's studios and either mismanaged them into releasing shite, cancelling their projects or just closing them down when they achieve major successes. The epitome of utter incompetence)

4. and then Ubisoft (shitty inept publisher, dirty nepotist practices, fucked up games with serious potential (Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar, Assassin's Creed (nearly… Shadows just about scraped in an OK game) etc), wasted millions on BS blockchain shite lead by cronyist and nepotist interests fundamentally… oh and nearly bankrupted the company, requiring a Tencent cash injection + new entity structure to try to keep the whole thing from imploding.
