I’ve been watching the entire series on Disney + with my 8 year old and I don’t feel guilty. She thinks it’s hilarious.

I would say it’s good for an 8 year old. Perhaps some of the Itchy and Scratchy stuff would be too much, but that depends on your parenting.

I got it free from Game Pass this month and started watching The Simpsons. I decided to see how far I could go before I lost interest in it. Apparently I originally made it through Season 12 on its original run. I started season 13 and fell off quick, same as before.

It depends on the kid. I think there's very few dumb kids who will think you can jump over a canyon on a skateboard and be ok for instance. Quite a lot of them will end up being lazy and disrespectful, like most characters in that show.

What? I was watching it at 5 years old when I was a kid and that was like 1990.

Kids these days are often exposed to far more "mature" content than The Simpsons. Nothing to worry about.

I absolutely adore The Simpsons (see avatar). I can watch seasons 1-9 on repeat and never get tired of it. Springfield is sort of my "happy place" I guess.

Ya I got my son hooked on it when he was about 9. I bought seasons 2-10 and rediscovered how much a masterpiece this show was. Loved watching through them with him. Some scenes put me to tears. Probably the best show of all time.

If anyone's a bad parent, it's me with a bullet. I just watched both seasons of Harley Quinn with my nine year old daughter, and I already let her watch all three seasons of the Spawn HBO show from the 90's. She's also recently finished the entire series of Dethklok Metalocalypse.

I might be Satan or something I don't know. Or, ya know.....media doesn't arbitrarily have negative effects on kids? Could be that, but who knows?

I was told I couldn’t watch it as a kid. Even though I took one of those portable TVs with the long antenna and watched it anyway. I watched all the well known episodes. I had a Simpsons game for SNES, so I don’t know what my parents were thinking.

It’s good, but small kids are very impressionable. I don’t exactly want to explain a lot of the topics they discuss or get called by my first name. I never called my mom or dad by their real name. It’s just a show, but kids and kids. My step kid watches it with her bio dad when she’s over there and she comes back doing all the voices. I tell her, “ok Bart” no matter what voice she does.
