i actually dislike krusty in that episode. i think it's the last episode with happy/cheerful krusty. depictions afterward have him as jaded and soulless, which i always thought was funnier for the character since it felt like the years really weighed on him.

I've only said it a week ago, but I'll say it again. Harry Shearer's delivery of "Gentle Ben" is killer.

Oh man, I just got the meta gag that they were going on with that episode. Not only was that poking fun of the basis of the clip show (which the episode was), but that very bit shown was actually from a much older episode than what was presented in the kitchen.

Gentle is "gentil" in Spanish, but he's not called that, just plainly "Rulo the bear". Maybe it was some sort of reference I'm not aware of, or even an inside joke. They did that sometimes.
