And no one remembers the class president subplot.
Made you a couple different ones:

Even Homerpalooza? All those episodes were good compared to most TV shows and the modern Simpsons though.
Then we have ones like "Three eyes on every fish", where I think it still has one of the best Marge moments in the entire show. "Lisa, always believe in your mother". Yeah, I forgot the exact quote, but it works.
"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins."
"Homer Simpson. Smiling politely".
I love Homerpalooza. So so much.
Lisa: Wearing a Jamaican hat makes a bold statement about your connection to reggae music.
Homer: Well, excuuuuuse me!
(sticks a sticker on his hat that says "Too cool for this planet")
I wouldn't say the overall quality is better per se... although I will say that outside of the two Tim Long-Zooey Deschanel-Mary Spuckler episodes this season has been more consistent in quality than any since at least Season 20.I have been slacking off on watching The Simpsons this season, I'm about ten episodes behind or so now, but I just started catching up. Am I crazy, or is the quality this season a bit improved from the past number of seasons? It's certainly not what it once was, but it seems more focused in on plot and truer to what the show used to be than it has lately. I just got to the episode from December about Homer's dog and I thought that was one of the best episodes of the last decade. It actually had a great deal of heart, unlike most any Simpsons episodes lately. I even really enjoyed the one right after it, the one about the preppers and all of that.

"Guess who likes you"

I like Sonic Youth and Smashing Pumpkins, but episodes where celebrities play themselves just rub me the wrong way. That episode had lot of good lines though.
I thought Tom Jones was hilarious in Marge Gets a Job. Granted, that's more of a musical artist as opposed to a band.I think the only band-playing-themselves episode I truly liked was Flaming Moe's, and I don't even like the Chili Peppers.
Wasn't Flaming Moe's Aerosmith? RHCP were in Krusty Gets Kancelled.I think the only band-playing-themselves episode I truly liked was Flaming Moe's, and I don't even like the Chili Peppers.

Wiggum: Put out an APB on a Uosdwis R. Dewoh. Uh, better start with Greektown.
Friday: That's "Homer J. Simpson", Chief. You're reading it upside down.
Wiggum: Uh, cancel that APB. But, uh, bring back some of them, uh, giros.
Friday: Uh, Chief? You're talking into your wallet.
Isn't it because of the extremely loud, reverberant guitar chord, precedingly? I am just trying to remember the scene off the top of my head here...Übermatik;55313364 said:Does anyone know why Homer kinda stutters onto this scene, right before he meets the SP? I'll try find a clip, but he kinda hops forwards on his heels. Reference? Or just a quirk?
IIRC it's because a band starts playing very loud so I assume the shockwave or whatever is the reason.Übermatik;55313364 said:Does anyone know why Homer kinda stutters onto this scene, right before he meets the SP? Although don't discount the title's double meaning: that Mr Bergstrom is a substitute for Lisa's father (which is the whole point of the episode I suppose), not just teacher.Mr. Bergstrom replaces Ms. Hoover teaching the class. Lisa's Substitute is one of their most literal titles, which ironically does make it harder to remember.
Mind blown. Had no idea it could be interpreted that way as well.Although don't discount the title's double meaning: that Mr Bergstrom is a substitute for Lisa's father (which is the whole point of the episode I suppose), not just teacher.
