The nice thing about solar is that if you slope your roof correctly you can pretty much calculate the energy yield for the entire year. Wind can be a lot more erratic and harder to capture in an urban/suburban environment and at a smaller scale.
I'd like to see entire developments and building codes aimed at making all new construction in high yield solar areas take advantage of solar. Have every roof a big south facing slope instead of the swoopy curvy road/home layouts many suburbs have now that put many homes at a solar collection disadvantage. Every mall, sports center, office park, arena, amusement park parking lot should be full of solar trees. IT's literally free energy getting wasted at this point.
