Rugby Union?! :lol

Do you know the origins of these sports?

Rugby Union was played exclusively only by elitist English universities, the logic was if someone got injured it wouldn’t matter because they can just “hit the books”.

Rugby league was then formed by working class men who couldn’t afford to get injured (the game stops when someone is tackled).

You know... as a replacement for bloodsports and battlefield melee of millenia past, modern day sports is a piss poor.

At least from a televised spectator point of view.

Cricket's crap. I do have some fond memories of it at school though. The annoyance on the teacher's face as I'd walk up to the crease, rise the bat and let that ball smack right into stumps....ah, good times.

How would you know if you never took the time to play it properly.

Who says I never took the time to play it properly? I try with all sports at first, and most can capture my interest to some degree, but cricket never managed it. I just didn't have any choice at school often.

I also find watching it even worst than playing. Baseball might be the only (major) sport I hate to watch more, but that one could well be just because I don't understand the rules.

The fuck! we're still only in the 27th over of the second innings, here in Perth. Damn, why does ch.9 always delay the cricket with both the news and ACA?

Well... I know the scores now, I guess I can actually watch Arrested Development tonight.

I love cricket though I do much prefer one-dayers over Test matches and I only ever watch it if Australia is involved. The pyjama game I love, 'cause it's the form of the game the Aussies are somewhat vulnerable at. Not that I want to see them lose or anything, but as the current one-day series against the Kiwi's have shown, there's a lot of twists and turns -- changes in momentum -- and I love the vibe, tension and excitement when the game goes right down to the last few overs (especially when you've actually attended the game).

BTW, whilst on the topic, anyone else looking for to the Australia vs. The Rest of the World series. Should be a cracker if the RotW selectors can get the commiment of the best players at the time.

PS: Beach cricket rocks!

Wheely bin, street cricket >>> backyard cricket >>> beach cricket >>> going down to the local nets for hit >>>> normal cricket imho. :D

Loved playing "wheely bin" cricket as a kid also - especially when I used to live in a court. Mind you, the council hadn't introduced the wheely bins back then. We had the old aluminnium ones. ;)

Not the biggest fan of cricket but I have a few Indian and Pakistani friends who have introduced me to the game. Does Australia still dominate the sport? I figured their best would have slowed down by now.

As with soccer, the only time I really get into cricket is during the world cup. Always interesting to see nations competing against each other.

Cricket is the sport of kings (baseball is a simplistic child's sport). You Aussies were lucky to get away with that second game with Harris injured, but hopefully we will rightfully embarrass you in the final.

Allow me to introduce you to Mixed Martial Arts, my friend.
