it sticks with me no more than the last 30 solid minutes of T2.

Sarah attempting to take matters into her own hands...M16 and all after dreaming of the apocalypse = holy shit.

Going to get the chip = holy shit.

Arnold with a minigun = holy shit.

What's his name holding that detnoator until his last breath = holy shit.

Highway chase into the steel plant = holy shit.

Sarah putting a dozen rounds into T-1000's chest = daaaayum.

The final sacrifice = emotional.

damn, i remembered that the final scene is the only scene in a movie that still makes me want to shed a tear. as a kid i ended up crying.

Damnit, I love older American movies. Especially Terminator movies and movies with Arnold in it. The best action hero there ever was and will be. Fuck Vin Diesel and all the other nooby non charismatic nerds!

T1 is a better horror/sci-fi movie than T2.
T2 is a better popcorn/action movie than T1.

I think T2 is the most entertaining out of the two.

I imagine most people have noticed, but in case you haven't, watch this scene again carefully. The Terminator actually gets his shot off, but a fraction of a second after getting hit by Reese's shotgun blast, and you can see it goes right to the side of her head.

Inches, man. Missed by inches.

Have you noticed how the Terminators have become more and more human? The T-800 was mostly robotic. The T-1000 had better imitating capabilities. The fembot was both hot and deadly. And the final one was so human that it didn't even know it was a Terminator until Skynet told it.

The setting is post-judgement day. The humans are winning against Skynet, but they have new intelligence about Skynet's temporal research. Of course, John Connor knows what's about to happen so they mount the final assault.

A few amazing set pieces later, John Connor and Kyle Reese infiltrate Skynet's temporal lab. Kyle is sent back to 1984. Connor uses his hacking skills on a spare T-800 and sends it back to 1991. But he notices another entry in Skynet's log, labeled "A&E." He pulls up information on the computer and sees A&E is still being held in a second temporal lab.

John races to the lab. There are two tanks here, each with a humanoid shape in them. One appears to be male, the other female. There's all sorts of weird-looking sci-fi shit hooked up to the tanks. John reads the nameplates: "ADAM" and "EVE". Suddenly, alarms go off as the temporal system activates. John bolts back to the main room and begins trying to hack the computer system, trying to shut down the time warp. He fails, but he is able to see the destination time period: 10,000 B.C.

Cut to a calm looking pasture/garden. We get the standard electrical storm effects typical of Terminator teleport, and ADAM and EVE are left laying in the field. We then cut to first-person view showing the Terminator boot sequence, culminating in the message: Commence operation: REPRODUCTION. The blinking stops, the HUD disappears. Cut to a close-up, and we see the tell-tale red eyes fade to a completely human face. Adam and Eve look at each other and smile innocently. Credits.

You see, the machines ultimately win, because we are the machines.

“No! I must kill the robots” he shouted The radio said “No, John. You are the robots” And then John was a robot.

*ahem*
that ledge gets me every time, otherwise T2 was a flawless action epic. T1 was a non-stop thriller/sci-fi/chase that was flawless in its own regard as well. I felt the T1 pacing was more straight forward and cohesive, but did it with virtually nothing compared to T2.

Hard to say, but it just really depends on how you individually look at each movie being totally different.
If you think that's bad, watch the truck window in the same scene.

Was gonna post this too.

DVD/Blu-ray slow mo kicks ass.

I think in Terminator 2 the T-1000 gets a shot off too just as he gets a buckshot in him (it)

I don't really enjoy comparing T1 to T2 cause honestly they feel like 2 completely separate genres. T1 is one of the best thrillers EVER. Where as T2 is pretty much the best action movie EVER. Apples and oranges.
And it's funny how similar this argument is to Alien vs Aliens.

They're all great. Even if he had fewer compromises in later films, I doubt Cameron thinks his sequels are automatically better. That would be the opinion of a talentless hack.

Aliens loses by default because of the sucky Stan Winston fragile looking alien queen.

I guess I watched T1 too late in my life. I can't stand the stop-motion animation :(

But it has a really epic script, gotta admit.

But T2 is one of my all times favorite. Amazing in every single aspect. Hell, I love The Terminator so much that I enjoyed every movie so far, hahah

T1 > T2 and Alien > Aliens.

Why? Because in T1 And Alien at no point do you ever think they are going to get out of that shit alive no matter how many times you've seen the movies.

... is that Bill Paxton?

How have I never noticed that before
Yeah, Paxton. Other guy is the hunter/assassin guy from x-files and Shao Khan from Mortal Kombat lol

Such a goddamn badass movie. My dad and I will sit through and watch this together all the time. I want to see the same future war movie as you too, not this near future beginning of the war (I still thought the Bale movie was decent though).

ya this movie did give me nightmares when I was a kid

Fun fact, the computer code overlaid on that 'first person POV' shot is 6502 Assembler. So the Terminator is a modified Commodore 64 :)

I respect what he did with T1, but T2 stands up much better. The effects in that still look good to this day. T2 is just a better movie, period. Though T1 is still awesome. T2>T1>>>>T3.

What's this Terminator 3? And Salvation? What?

I never knew those existed.

You're probably better off. Terminator 3 wasn't horrible, I honestly haven't seen Salvation yet as I heard too many comments that it was just horrible.

I've loved this movie since I was just a little boy.

Recently I actually really enjoyed the Sarah Connor Chronicles on Netflix. It's not that bad, especially compared to T3 & Salvation.

Oh I saw them, they just don't exist.

I still can't get over the storm drain chase in T2. I watched it in HD recently and only noticed the bluescreen when 'Arnie' grabs 'John' and puts him on his bike. I've watched this film so many times since I was a kid. Mind officially blown.

I also didn't know Michael J Fox was a stuntman, either.

Awesome films (T1, T2) anyway...

Great movies, only saw them in the past few years or so but I love the gritty 80s feel of T1 in particular. I probably prefer the first one, although I don't know if I'd argue it's the better movie.

I'd also argue T3 isn't a bad standalone sci-film, it's just not a good Terminator sequel due to the cheap way it cuts off what T2 stood for. It has some great moments though (and some pretty dodgy ones admittedly)

Always liked T1 better. T2 was great when I was a kid, but watching it now just isn't the same. Furlong gets on my nerves. And James Cameron is shit whenever he tries to inject a message into his movies.

T2 did the same shit for T1.

It's funny how each one rewrites it's self.
T1, It's nothing more than events which are meant to happen being played out.
T2, Suddenly! We can stop the future and alter events!
T3, Bullshit! You can only delay future events!

T1 is the only good Terminator film. I'd still argue the Police Station shoot out was far better than anything in each of it's successors. They went bigger, but none of them were nearly as badass as Arnold wrecking up the place in 1.

ahahah yes. The dummy T-1000 sitting emotionless. That whole sequence was fucking badass.

I just re-watched the motorcycle/truck chase scene in T1. Holy fuck was that still awesome today.

One of my 5 favorite movies of all time, and a tremendous OP as well. Honestly, my favorite thing about the whole movie are the scenes depicting the future. Its just such a dark, depressing, grimy view. The best part is the one with Kyle coming back from patrol, making his way through the underground, then having the infiltrator unit come blasting in. Man would I love to see a post judgment day Terminator movie done right.
