No, Gene hated what Meyer did with Star Trek. But by the time Meyer did Undiscovered Country he was dying so he couldn't fight it. After The Wrath of Khan (and the bombing of The Motion Picture) Gene didn't even have much control over the movies. Paramount put Harv Bennet in control of the series.
And his involvement with TNG wasn't as much as people really look back on. The first season and second seasons WERE a lot of Gene Roddenberry, simply because for the fist two seasons TNG was repurposing a lot of Star Trek Phase II stuff from the 70s. Riker & Troi were just repurposed versions of Decker and Ilia from The Motion Picture, who were characters from Phase II. The second season episode The Child was just a re-written script from Phase II. Hell, the TNG show bible (which I've read) said they'd never have Vulcans on the show; that went away real quick in Season 3 when they brought on Sarek and eventually Spock in Season 5. By the time of the third season of TNG, Gene's health was in such decline the real driving force of the series was Berman, Piller, and the writers like Ron Moore and Brannon Braga.
If Gene was around we NEVER would've had Deep Space Nine.
