I'm getting stuttering like crazy. Anyone know of a fix?
That sucks, I guess I was lucky that the section worked fine for me, since you're the second one to report it. You might want to make a community thread about it or whatever so that the developers can see it. They did a last-minute patch before the game so I imagine they're willing to fix things if they can reproduce them. No, no letters or notes anywhere and the gates still open. Well that's an annoying bug.
AMD card or nVidia? GTX 770 was fine for me aside from occasionally loading new areas.I'm getting stuttering like crazy. Anyone know of a fix?

I don't know if the game will consider you having finished that section so you can complete it or not. If you can complete the game without that section, and you're curious, I can screenshot the letters you missed so you can read them.

Where does it manifest/how often/ what is happening when it happens?
Part of me wants to say "that is UE3 for you," but we need to know more about your Rig and in game settings to say what to do.
What is your VRAM usage like, what is your framerate?
That's weird, my system is definitely worse than yours but ran fine. Do you have any software or utilities running in the background, by any chance? Or any 3D settings force-overridden in something like D3DOverrider?It's happening almost 80% of the game. I've play UE3 games just fine before.
i7 920 - oc to 3.4
12 gb ram
stock 780 - latest drivers
framerates seems to be fine, at least on fraps. with afterburner it just gives me a shit ton of numbers.
didn't pay attention to the ram usage but i don't think it was out of the ordinary.
I everything on full except - 2x msaa and AF to 4x

Good point. I was running Windows 7 64-bit, and probably not recent drivers.Latest drivers. Windows 8.1 64 bit.
Ok, so stuck now.
i got to the burned out house and woke Ethan up. Now there is a painting on the wall but it won't open fully. Two items are crossed out in red. A doorway and a bulls head. Now the doorway I think is the first house over the dam, and I did that so why is it crossed out? Don't know what the Bulls head is though
That puzzle in the house
Answers:
The bull's head is on top of a big hill somewhere. When you get there it should trigger a sequence where the screen goes black and white and a witch starts talking. You'll end up finding a little tent.
The house one might be the house with all the blue doors. Did you find the hideout room in the house with all the candles, books, skull, and so forth?

Weird. I'm glad you were able to finish it at least! No, it didn't count as me doing it so I went all the way back after restarting the game and noticed the puzzle had been reset. So, I completed it again and it happened a second time BUTVery weird.I managed to pick up the note first so the zombie attacked me while I was reading it and that triggered the completion. When I closed the note the gate had shut and I had 2 more notes to read.
Comments about spoiler text:Did both of those. The. And the other one is pretty unmissablehideout room is the one with the moonshine kit in, right?
Can you open theother end of the caves? The gate with the chain on that leads to a path round to the dam? And what's this about a blooming spaceman??
Yes, you'll want to go there after you've finished everything in the game. You will be able to find an (ENDING SPOILER)Lastly, is there any point tothe area through the generating house? You can walk across when the water is turned off, but doesn't seem to be anything there
OK I'm stuck sorry if mentioned before butI'm going in circles in the underground portion with all the candles, finding the dead ghouls. So far I have five of their ghosts on the platform in front of the Stargate looking wheel. I've been running in circles forever trying to find the last one, are there six total? Maybe someone could give me a screen cap of the right symbol sequence? Assuming it isn't randomized and you don't need all the ghosts to solve it. Any help appreciated at my wits end over here.
This is what I did.If you have what you have, then you don't need the last one.each ghost has a symbol around it - star, diamond etc - which shows which ring to move. The symbol they are standing on is what you rotate the ring to show. If you have 5/6 then just spin the other one until it opens

haven't read through the thread so this might be old, but I found the micro stutter fix!!!
sweet mother of buttery 60fps.

I got lucky with guesses and only had 3 hints on that one. I'm glad since I didn't want to go look for more, lol. This is what I did.
I suspect the new area hitching thing is just Unreal Engine 3 streaming data in, it's been doing that since the days of Mirror's Edge. It doesn't seem to do it too often at least.YES! This fixed the issue. Now I'm just getting the annoying stutter when loading a new area. Any fix on that?

Yeah I think the hideout had the moonshine kit. The other investigation near there on the map is in the cave. You can get into the cave through the broken door -- there's one thing to do with a minecar, some ghosts etc., and then there is also a spiral passage going down to a big underground section. You'll know it if you get to a gate with a warning note.
About the spaceman, go check the area marked on the map. I think it was in the woods not too far after the traincar at the start. There should be a metal post with lights on it that looks out of place. If you solve a puzzle involving the post, a very cool sequence happens.
Yes, you'll want to go there after you've finished everything in the game. You will be able to find an (ENDING SPOILER)burned house there, along with some cool scenery along the way.
Sorry, I meant the other building. The onewhere you turn the tap to slow the water flow. If you go out the other side there doesn't seem anything to do
And does thespaceman ever end, or do I have to reload a save game?
There areUhm.. I do a lot of running in this game, understandable being open world, but I feel as if I've missed important things or gone too far ahead, I always look back thinking I shouldn't have gone this far.
anyone running this game on a 760?

I wonder if we will get achievements once the game comes out on PS4 and they have to come up with a trophy list just like Outlast did?

Will wait until tomorrow now to see if the patch helps. Definitely need it to recognise sections I've completed
spaceman section never ends for me. I just float in the capsule for ever. Tried it twice now and left it for ten minutes floating...floating....
any chance the loading stutter/hiccup will be fixed or at least toned down? really noticeable and annoying when running/backtracking.

Yup. Looks great, runs fine.anyone running this game on a 760?
I should probably drop the AF down a tad but not sure what other 770 users are having the gfx settings at. Apologies if I'm actually pushing my card too much, I don't game on my PC a fat lot until very recently
Right just want to compare performance with other users with similar setup. Feel like I should be getting better fps even though the game does look stunning.
What resolution?
Dropping AF won't improve your performance.
Dropping AA will.

Running an overclocked GTX 770
i7 3770K OC'd to 4.4ghz
16GB RAM
Got everything on max with 4x MSAA with x16 AF. Getting 35-40 fps in wooded areas and 60fps looking over the landscape. I'm not sure if that's good for my card or if 770 users are hitting 60fps max everywhere. If that's the case then something is up with my PC.. lol.

Answers:Looking for a bit of direction guys:
just completed the investigation with the altar and the crows, it's the second one I've came across. After that looked through the abandoned family house, and the investigation told me that Ethan went to the mines through the tunnel near the locked gate. But I can't find any tunnel?
Where do I go from here and have I missed anything?
