The Verge: Xcloud Updates (Direct To Cloud Controller, Improved Visual Quality (Higher Bitrate)) Coming Soon

I have recently been using xcloud on my Q3, and the input response has been excellent. It may just be a form of placebo, but I wonder if there has been some behind the scenes improvement in this area. I was able to play Sifu and Fortnite and legit forgot I was streaming.

Edit: it's also plausible that they recently spun up a datacenter that is closer to me

Perhaps i'll give it another try. The last time i tried it it wasn't a very good experience with my 50MB internet.

Meh all sounds good but the part about coming soon makes me wonder what soon means it's been a few years and we have barely gotten any updates.

They need a super clean 1080p/60 format at the very minimum. I'd prefer a 1440p/120 as a great start! GeForce now has been such a blessing, but they don't have the games Microsoft can offer especially if they add in the ability to stream any game I buy from Microsoft.

I find Xcloud useful for trying out games to see if you like it. I wouldnt play a full game on it though as the image quality can break up a lot, and i have 1TB Fibre.
I couldnt imagine playing something like COD on it.

It's amazing for doing daily game pass tasks and check out new games added to the service before committing to download.

With the added thing of being able to play your owned games, should be nice for progress when out-of-city as well.

I'm all in for this, but they need to end that stupid exclusivity deal with Samsung TVs. If you want Xbox on every screen, you have to bring Xbox to every screen… Also, annoying that I can't read the article - not paying for Verge content.

Can anyone summarise? Thanks!

I use it Xbox Cloud Gaming a couple of times a week, either when I'm away from the TV and on my Steam Deck, or when I want to play something on my Xbox that has a large download (like Flight Simulator). I've always had a great experience with it and it is one of the main reasons why I subscribe to Ultimate. I am happy to hear this news as streaming as every little bit helps.

It's been like half a year since I streamed from Gamepass Cloud. It was pretty bad with the artifacting. Geforce Now though, 4k 60fps pristine and consistent performance. The other pain point to me for GamePass were the queue times. They went and made that available on PC, mobile, and everything and so many people to make it a pretty bad premium experience compared to other paid tier services
