This topic is sort of a spinoff of Current Videogame Advertisement Topics.

Video Game Artwork can be a complete pain in the arse to get a hold of. Places like IGN and Gamespot have been posting a lot more artwork lately, but their images are covered in horrible watermarks, leaving them pretty useless for websites. Since I've seen a few people here post some more recent artwork without watermarks, some of you clearly have access to media channels. So, instead of looking through countless topics on artwork, why not just make a topic for people to post the latest Nintendo / Xbox / PS2 / etc artwork?

This topic can also be used as a request topic. I've got tons of old magazines, and artwork from pre-1998 is just a damn pain to find in any useful size, so we should put in an effort to post older game artwork if people request it :)

To start this topic off, I went through some of the older magazines and found some artwork which I thought would be at an interest to the people here at GA.

As for the Secret of Mana, I have an advert which I found that I was going to put in Wario64's section. It's 4 pages long, but this is the part with any graphics on it:



if you could get rid of the small staple marks, you'd be set :)
 
Great idea! Maybe it's also a good idea to post some good websites with clean/big/high-quality art. A very good one is Naimoka. They have a mostly art from (SE) RPG's. I scanned this from the FFTA strategy guide:

Great website too. I'm not that big on Square-Enix games myself, but some of the art is just awesome. Particulary like the Brownie Brown stuff.

kazuma kaneko is, as far as i'm concerned, the best artist working in games today. anyone who's played SMT nocturne knows how immensely talented and imaginitive he is. his body of work at this point is huge. and he's just released a new artbook, which is purportedly the first in a series of ten, which gets my insides all squrimy in a pleasent way.

here's a tiny, miniscule taste:

other game artists i'd nominate for being truly exceptional:

akihiko yoshida (already mentioned above)
yoji shinkawa (ditto)
fumi ishikawa (suikoden II, III)
ayami kojima (castlevania SOTN onward)

amano isn't consistent enough for my tastes. some stunning stuff, lots of utter filler and silly pants. satoshi urushihara (growlanser) does some beautiful stuff but it can get a bit silly. noboteru yuki (chrono cross) does fantastic work but mostly outside of games. i don't think CC is his best by a long shot. valkrie profile has excellent art -- i don't know the name of the artist -- and it's a real shame that as yet tri-ace hasn't reused that artist. it's wonderful not just for being so vastly different from the typical anime look, but for being immensely well done. sensitive. it adds a lot to that game's charm.

i'm clearly forgetting some, and i'm semi-derailing the thread by actually discussing the topic, i suppose. especially as my art contribution has a signature on it which is functionally similar to a watermark, i guess. sorry!

I really don't know... but doesn't the Collector's Edition have any?

Well, I searched through all of my archive CDs to find some Donkey Konga 2 artworks, and only found 2 of them. The rest is drawings and material from the first episode (Donkey, Diddy, Cranky and so on), but it still has the same style (no lines, just mixes of colours).



I won't be able to help you more :s

EDIT : and as for the World of Warcraft, can anyone confirm if there is something worthy on the collector's edition as Apple Jax said ?

Well, I don't have that much PC game artwork :s So I'll just post some War3 ones and wait for the others to come again.

Anyone know where i can get Neogeo animated spties? The Site that used to have nearly all of them closed a few years ago.
 
does anyone have any Hi-Res Paper Mario 1 or 2 images? Specifically I'm looking for ones that don't have a websites logo cockstamped right on it.
