As long as you don't consider E3 something to go completely ballistic over, I believe it shouldn't be too difficult to toggle a "seriousness mode" whenever it could be useful. Just use proper language, don't post arbitrary images and don't dive into any troll pits, and you should be fine. I'm more afraid of how long I'm going to stay up. As I live in Sweden, E3 doesn't start for me until the evening and with Sony's press conference taking place 06:00 PM PST, it means I have to stay up all night. Well, I don't have to stay up or anything as I no longer work with video games, but with little else to do I can at least provide some interesting remarks in whatever threads may pop up.
Not really, but most are speculating that it will likely be a either a new IP, or an older franchise brought back, and geared toward the western audience. People seem to expect Retro to do something more grand, and done kind of like an adventure game, not something small that plays in "corridors".

I would like to point out that I doubt Retro is going to completely abandon DK (considering how well it sold). I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a DK for the 3DS at E3, but is Retro big enough to be working on two games at the same time?
Funny thing about gaf during E3. I wasn't following gaf during last E3, but because everyone talks about how crazy it gets a month or so ago I went and took a look at last year's Nintendo E3 confrence thread. I can tell you that was a pretty hilarious experience, just pure chaos and insanity, I totally understand how people get banned during E3.

But I'm thankful for these threads, as they are usually the best place for Nintendo-related conversation.. assuming we're not overrun by trolls.
Like I said above, after reading last year's dedicated Nintendo E3 thread, I'm sure you'll pretty much need the Master Sword to get past the amount of trolls coming this way.

Why does Nintendo stick to this style?
DS, ok it was nice and all. Wii was bad enough, but Wii U version just makes it look like a Dolphin emulation.
Oh and 3DS version using the same style and not being sprite based annoyed the hell out of me, I was hoping for some crisp 2D Mario World like sprites...

I only said that it was possible, and I realized my mistake soon after.
Last year gifs were nothing against the 2010 ones. I don't like Kinect but it was like fuel for the gif generator.
It could have very well undergone a nice enhancement for all we know. Better textures, animations. It'll be pretty good.

If you pay attention enough, you already got one.
Most people seem to agree. Good gameplay, but bad art syle. I'm hoping they are planning to show a 2D Mario game that's a bit prettier, whether they change the art stlye or not, it should look a lot better then what they showed last E3, that was pretty much Wii assets they used.

Nintendo 2008 was quite a gif fabric too. Riker GIF from that year is one of my favs of all time

As awesomely crazy as the conference threads always are, I hate them, because they are just too hard to follow. If you try to read every post, you will quickly fall pages behind. Best you can do is skim around and look for something that catches your eye. And realize that if you post something, nobody will ever respond to it, and if they do you most likely won't see the response.

It's cheap and it'll sell 20 million copies even if it looks like a Fisher-Price Mario playset.

Metroid Prime would undoubtedly be the better game (than Resident Evil 4) in my mind. Even though i may have enjoyed RE4 more and have replayed it about six times while i only replayed MP once. It's like comparing a movie like Alien to Zombieland. But i played a lot of gems on the Gamecube and Dreamcast.
This gen my vote would go to Xenoblade. The only game that really "had" me.

Same. Waiting to hear about their launch. Buying launch games, digital, and wii games I missed out on, will hurt my wallet
Just Pikimin 3, and a Mario based off of NSMB have been mentioned by Nintendo, and yes the next NSMB game will be retail, because they sell big.
