I don't know if we'll see NSMBMii because they want to sell NSMB2

Heck NSMB2 might have important features that showing NSMBMii at the same time might seem lacking (if it's just more of NSMBWii)

Here's what was said. "In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year's E3 Expo," the Nintendo representative told the site. "We'll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date."

So Miyamoto just said that a Super Mario Bros. game would be at E3, he didn't confirm anything else, so we'll see.

Something I couldn't do at the thread's creation because I was banned, so I'm doing it now.

Well, sweet. We just need stuff that will differentiate the 2 games then.

That's what I meant. Nintendo wouldn't have made a tablet if it didn't have worthwhile gameplay innovations. Then again, they did make the wii-mote.

...along with what ended up being the actual game of the generation, WiiSports. ;)

I think out of all the mysteries being discussed in these threads, the biggest and perhaps most important one is what the next attempt at a WiiSports-type of juggernaut will be from Nintendo. Iwata mentioned it ever so briefly during the investor's briefing, but it very well could be something that spurs on crazy 6+ hour long lines at E3 this year and gets the media buzzing in ways it hasn't since 2006. Nintendo has had a very long time to work on and perfect whatever this title ends up being, and even if it isn't something we think we want now, it could be something we'll end up wanting after we see/hear about it. Or it could totally suck and so forget I said anything.

Rayman Origins
Cave Story
Monster Hunter Tri
Sin and Punishment
Sonic Colors
NyxQuest
Warioland Shake It
Super Paper Mario
Kirby's Return to Dream Land

The Last Story will be here soon.

A LOT of good gamecube games you can play on the Wii as well.

Seriously, i remember the comparisons between Star Wars the movies new edition CGI and Rogue Squadron, and the catch-phrases like "it's prettier than the films !!!". It was so impressive back in the days, Bespin, the Endor/Death Star space battle with tons of ships rendered at the same time, etc.
I remember as well, talking about it with friends and going crazy about how impressive it looks. I was like a kid...

One of the things I want to see at this E3: something about the 2 Monolith games.

Best game last gen: Mount & Blade Warband (PC). Best experience, best RPG with Xenoblade, best action game too. Just with the solo endless campaign I spent hundred of hours into this game. It's a mid/low budget game, from a turqish studio and it remind me Sid Meier's Pirates in a medieval fictional realistic world, without fantasy. It combines a map session (simplified isometric 3D view), where you move from town to town, castles to castle, visiting different kingdoms, recruiting soldiers and NPCs for your party (you can recrute hundred of people), and realtime 3D action sessions with brutals, compelling, exciting battles. And it come with a solid and addictive online multiplayer. First time I experiment such a feeling in a game when charging an army while I'm leading my own one. I would kill to see the announced sequel ported to the Wii U.

A rep said NSMB, while Miyamoto only said a Mario game would be shown. I'm pretty confident that there won't be a NSMB game for Wii U shown at E3, and it definitely won't be a launch game.

Already own World of Goo iOS version, staying away from MK for now on, and might wait on smg/nsbw. Never know they'll get HD remakes. Everything else ill get, except for RE4 lol

Edit: the only GameCube game I want to play again is Gotcha Force<3

I think you're overthinking this.

Not sure why you're so confident. I could come up with at least 5 reasons why NSMB will be shown at E3 for Wii U.

1) Nintendo normally turns tech demos into real games. (Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wii Music, Steel Diver, etc)

2) New Super Mario Bros Wii is one of the best selling games for Wii. It's outsold every 3D Mario game.

3) It's a game that is faster to develop just in time for Wii U's launch than 3D Mario.

4) That's way too much effort put into a tech demo for it not to become a real game.

5) It's the perfect game to bridge gap between casuals and hardcore gamers.

Miyamoto said a Super Mario Bros. game, so basically that would mean a 2D Mario game, that's all that was confirmed. The new in front of the title Super Mario Bros. wasn't part of what he said, your right, he didn't mention NSMBWii, or NSMBMii, just SMB. If I was going to guess, I would say it's possible that what's shown won't be NSMBMii, I think it could be SMB(insert numer or another word here). I do think the next SMB, or NSMB game will be at launch though, because I think 3D Mario will come at the end of 2013.

I think you're overthinking this.

Why? I just don't think there's anything that points to it being there, the only reason people are so adamant that it'll be at E3 and release at launch is because a low level rep said that the demo from last year would be a game, and Miyamoto said there would be a Mario game for Wii U. But that's completely ignoring the fact that NSMB 2 is in development and coming out in August. I find it odd that people are so convinced by what a rep said.

The original article (the Spanish source) says a new Super Mario game, it doesn't say Mario Bros, therefore it could really be anything. I wouldn't be surprised if Miyamoto was talking about the next 3D Mario being shown for 2013.

Didnt they come out with a similar Keyboard for that Pokemon Typing 3DS game in Japan..?

yeah I remember that one

at least we won't have to wonder about typing in those types of games
still that has never gotten to the west has it?

I literally lol'd.

~30 million at worst, ~65 million at best.

We're in a gen where the lowest selling system is going to beat your "at best" number handily. For clarification, are you saying that the market will contract next gen or that Nintendo will do substantially worse than the average console next gen (that number is 10m less than the current gen's current average and likely about 20m less than it'll be by the end)?

Oh really? I wasn't aware he just said Super Mario. Yeah, just looked it up, the original source says Super Mario, but it's not a direct quote from him either, eurogamer points that out "However, Miyamoto was not directly quoted as saying this - rather it was the newspaper's own text doing so".

I'm making a guess based on nothing is what I'm doing.

I was just thinking of possible new 3d Mario's that could be made for the U and had an epiphany!

Does the idea of a 3d Yoshi's Island make anyone moist besides me? I think such a game could be amazing if done right. The art style of the snes in glorious HD 3d excites me to no end.

I bought the Logitech Wii Cordless Keyboard years ago (back when Animal Crossing: City Folk was released). I hope that keyboard will be compatible with the Wii U. Shame for that expensive thing to go to waste.

I want a Yoshi Wii U game really bad, if done well it could become a main selling franchise like DK, and get up around 5M I bet.

I would much rather prefer if they added Swype functionality to the touch screen. My Android phone has me spoiled in swype typing.

But it would be better if they put a good enough microphone into the controller to allow Speech to Text conversion.

My rule of thumb is.. if I can guess what the next 3D Mario game is... Nintendo is doing it wrong
