Ok, so looks like the round table is still not going to be live streamed.
Interesting.
Interesting.
PS3 to PSP
Could've sworn PSP was a handheld and not a controller.

Just downloaded?Hey!!! That was just downloaded!!! Not fair
The principle is the same, the game is being rendered at one system, then it is being streamed through another device, where it is being controlled. But i was mostly just joking. The biggest different is that this streaming is standard on WiiU, and it is most likely more responsive.Could've sworn PSP was a handheld and not a controller.
Not at all. I was just joking a bit around that the tech of streaming games have been done before. But this doesnt really matter in my opinion. To me it doesnt really matter much who was first or not, what is most important is that someone gives a good experience. What he is really saying is that the Wii U is a yet-to-be-released last gen system

The Software Showcase is pleasingly late in the week. I wonder if it will uphold Nintendo's tradition of spreading the surprises across the week. Fingers crossed.
Hehe, yeah, i thought so I just wanted to mention it anyway in general to remove any potential doubt that i wasnt mostly joking.Yeah, I was just joshing with you. Keeping it light hearted
*hides knife behind back*
Software showcase likely won't be anything new.
Demos from the floor and developer interviews.
The discussion with Eguchi, however, should have a new game announcement.
Given his history, I'd put money on a racing game (Wave Race?)
Then there's also Miyamoto's Roundtable. There will be new tidbits and maybe an announcement.
It could be a revival of Wave race and I would love it.
But his work with Wii U is that he is the hardware producer of it.
And he has a discussion there with developers about the Wii U hardware.
So I doubt that there will be a game announcement.
CELL and Xenon are based on POWER4, which was introduced in 2001. Does that make PS3 and 360 '01 tech?Oh cool, I was under the impression they were using '09 tech.
According to Shikamaru, there will be.
Also note that he is the man behind Animal Crossing and Wii Sport.
It won't be the latter (Iwata already said as much), but it could still be some kind of proof of concept game.
CELL and Xenon are based on POWER4, which was introduced in 2001. Does that make PS3 and 360 '01 tech?
Depends on how you look at it. I'd suggest "Introduction to the Cell multiprocessor", IBM Journal of Research and Development, July 2005.Both Xenon and the PPE in Cell use the Power PC 603 architecture which is a stone age design from the mid 90s. The Power 4 runs circles around the Xenon and Cell. Clock for clock and core for core the Power PC 750 in the Gamecube and Wii is much more powerfull than the Xenon and PPE in the Cell. Next time do some reading.
I have fond memories of staying up all night reading liveblogs and waiting for something to happen. Good times. The Software Showcase is pleasingly late in the week. I wonder if it will uphold Nintendo's tradition of spreading the surprises across the week. Fingers crossed.
CELL and Xenon are based on POWER4, which was introduced in 2001. Does that make PS3 and 360 '01 tech?
PPE and its twin sibling Xenon are POWER5-based. In contrast, 603 is a non-SMT, super-scalar (dual-issue) in-order, amazingly-short-pipeline, 32bit design. Both Xenon and the PPE in Cell use the Power PC 603 architecture which is a stone age design from the mid 90s. The Power 4 runs circles around the Xenon and Cell. Clock for clock and core for core the Power PC 750 in the Gamecube and Wii is much more powerfull than the Xenon and PPE in the Cell. Which in turn is just an improved POWER4.PPE and its twin sibling Xenon are POWER5-based.
No. POWER6 is an improved POWER5. Original POWER5 (in-order, SMT, high-clock targets) was a radical departure from POWER4 (aggressively-out-of-order, non-SMT, medium-clock targets). Only much later with POWER7 did IBM return to POWER4 philosophy, of course with the few tricks they learned from the POWER5/6 'diversion'.Which in turn is just an improved POWER4.
It's okay. Wii Music was only bad because they had nothing else to show that year
Wii Music was only bad if you don't understand harmonies, jazz, or rhythm.
It's no secret that the rise of Nintendo fan blogs like that site comes directly as a result of disillusionment from the big players, IGN for their seeming unwillingness to do their jobs and gamespot for their elitist, nitpicky scoring system and their penchant for accepting bribes for reviews as was the case in the Kane and Lynch fiasco, calling into question whether they were harshly critical because they felt that way or because the check didn't clear. According to Alexa, a lot of the big media sites have been losing traffic since early 2010, and I'd say it's a pretty reasonable conclusion that it's because they ran off 90 million potential readers.
Now some of these fanblogs do have an echo chamber effect where criticisms of Nintendo, even when valid, are viewed with skepticism. But that's a direct reaction to how the big sites behaved when they made clear that they just didn't seem interested in Nintendo and would rather do something else. IF you had to pick between a brown-nosing yes-man or a nitpicking jerk who slammed you for every move, right or wrong, which would you choose?
Back from a few pages, but I wanted to friggin' cheer this post. I've long thought that the successes of sites like Go Nintendo and NWR are no mere coincidence. Does the reader want to go where they're being insulted or marginalized on a regular basis, or where there's a bit of a sympathetic tilt to the news? Hmm. I doubt that there are many folks left who go to the majors' podcasts any more looking for decent Nintendo coverage; you're more likely to get an hour-long sneek peak at the new weapons in the next installment of Halo.
And though these Nintendo sites may have the reputation of being party stalwarts, anyone who listens regularly knows that there's no shortage or criticism and griping directed at Nintendo. And it's often the same laundry list of complaints that we get from the majors. The big difference? The complaints/gripes/problems/anoyances are clearly and passionately stated, yes, but here's the real friggin' kicker: they don't allow these points to permeate the rest of their coverage and commentary to the point where you sigh and hold your breath for a moment before clicking on the next article. Remarkable! What an idea!
In contrast, the majors seemed to let their beefs with Nintendo seep-into so many elements of their coverage to the point where it seemed relentless. So many of us, noticing the difference, walked. And here we are today. Majors losing traffic, fan-run sites doing well. I've always thought it folly to drive-off such a potentially large, rabid audience, but what do I know?

Good God. They look so goddamn like the same person. I would say to them "You want ice cream cone?" both of them say yes.
I don't say it wasn't heavily modified, but even IBM states that it's directly based on POWER4. Also, both the POWER4 and the POWER5 are OoO. POWER6 was the "diversion". See section 12.1, second paragraph: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...BSPdbl&sig=AHIEtbRV5Z65qnGEQGwW_gtS2_t8Vf232gNo. POWER6 is an improved POWER5. Communities cultivated by fan blogs are, in my opinion, from experience, just as unappealing as communities cultivated by biased websites. The former might be a product of the later, but they're just as bad as each other.
Yes, I had already edited my original reply. My original point was, PPE is a much closer relative to the 'diversion' than to either of previous POWER iterations or the current POWER7.I don't say it wasn't heavily modified, but even IBM states that it's directly based on POWER4. And even IBM calls POWER5 an "extension" of POWER4: http://www.cs.utexas.edu/~cart/arch/fall03/KallaSlides.pdf
- Wii U supports DirectX 11 and is already running Unreal Engine 4
- Wii U will support to touch-screen controllers
- The console has 2GB of RAM, 560MB dedicated to the OS
- The launch date will be 23 November
- Launch price hasn't been decided but will be between $350 - $450 (£220 - £285)
- Rayman Legends, The Avengers, Assassin's Creed 3, Just Dance 4 are all on Ubisoft's Wii U schedule, with Killer Freaks from Outer Space set to arrive weeks after launch.
- There are currently multiple versions of the console with developers
- Graphics are powered by the Radeon HD 6770 chipset
- Assassin's Creed 3 will run at 60fps at 1080p, compared to 720p on PS3 and Xbox 360
- Wii U will come with pre-installed software
- Crytek, EA and Valve are all working on Wii U
- Valve are working on a digital distribution platform and Portal ports
- Wii U will support achievements
- Wii U's UI will be customisable
- The new button has some link to the Wii Vitality Sensor
- The trigger buttons won't be analogue
Bear in mind, all of the above is pure speculation - some of which we've heard before - and details could have been lost in translation.
Just from the perspective of someone who joins neither "community", its still preferable to read news from a site that doesn't go off on unrelated tangents every time a game comes out for a system they dont like.
Didn't see this discussed here yet.

Take with a grain of salt, this is claiming a new leak that says the GPU is based on a 6770, ACIII will run at 1080p and 60fps, that the release date is November 23rd, price is 350 - 450, and that it'll support UE4. Ohh and that Valve is on board. It claims to be bringing Steam to it. I would assume that would mean similar to how the PS3 has "Steam".
Forgot to add, also claiming 2 gigs of ram, and 560 being used for OS. I'm thinking that's probably supposed to be 512.
So yeah take with large grains of salt.

This rumour has been posted several times already, with small modifications.
I wonder how many castles it can render now?I hear Nintendo ON is real.
This thread moves too god damn fast. I went back like 3 or 4 pages and didn't see it. Fucking hell.
Its because from like the end of last week so in the other thread, and believe...even a thread made for it as well.

Found the source, and more claims from them. Based on their claim that the new "button" has connections to the vitality sensor, makes me now feel this is all just bullshit.

hehe, Wii Music is one of the rare exceptions of a Nintendo first-party game that I have never considered buying ... after watching your video now I am tempted!
Here is a leaked pic that confirms it.I hear Nintendo ON is real.
That was my original point, actually. A being based on B doesn't make them the same. In fact, they can be extremely different. Which means that even if the Wii U hardware is based on some 2009 designs, after more than 30 months of customization, there's quite possibly very little left of whatever they started with - the result isn't really "2009 tech" anymore.Yes, I had already edited my original reply. My original point was, PPE is a much closer relative to the 'diversion' than to either of previous POWER iterations or the current POWER7.
