The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

Not watched either video yet, but have we seen anything that shows if us PS4 folk get the nice fog effect that was seen in one of the PC videos.

That looked sweet and would be nice if us console peasents get that too.

I saw fog rolling in from the river on the PS4 footage, and as far as I know the Witcher 3 isn't using Nvidia's fog tech like Batman is.

That last thread was a general thread. And Console people had to wait for whatever reason for some official Console footage.

PC gamers coming in this thread, bragging about their graphics cards and pcs is more annoying to me than people asking for some official console footage.

Dude, get over yourself. There are quite a few people with their feet in both camps and want to know which platform to buy it on. If someone is excited to play on whatever new GPU they have, let them express it. It's no different than people asking where the Xbone footage is in this thread. Get over it.

The quality of the videos and gifs are bad. But if water movement is negligible. I commented on the previous page

This gif is better

Damn the water looks incredible!
The PS4 version is definitely missing some of the awesome visuals effects, and I noticed a lot of shadow/geometry pop-in on the PS4 version as well :/

The combat looks way,way better than anything the first two games offered.

After seeing this version of the game, its really astounding how much work CDPR really put into this.

Despite naysayers left and right, the game really topples what most "AAA" developers offer.

This is difficult decision for me.

I wonder, how my pc can handle it. 770 GTX 2GB, Core i7 4770K. I'm afraid my video card is bottleneck if I'm trying to get high detail 1080p.

On the other hand PS4-version looks very good.

Help me GAF, please?

It should look better on your PC.

not too much better, as the game looks more GPU orientated.

If even the PC version has noticeable pop in, i'd think the PS4 having even more so would be a matter of course.

Even so, looks great for the PS4 build. Glad to see my worries were put to rest. Now to get DF to look at it for the FPS count and load times

I'd say just wait a day after release. If I had to guess though, especially with the 4770k, you'll get much better performance from a PC copy, that coupled with CDPR's history as a PC-centric developer I think you'd be better off. That said, in your case, you really can't go wrong in either choice, but you'll definitely have more future options(mods) with the PC copy, and I'm willing to bet this game will garner a ton of new fans and we'll see some great mods from them sooner than later.

You will be close to 60fps at PS4-like settings. I wouldn't stress it out.

Only thing that seems to be standing out to me is his hair. Like it looks awesome but it seems like it doesn't move based on the direction of the wind like some of the earlier PC videos.

Also because compression is so bad I can't really tell but it also looks like the water shader was pared down a good amount for the console.

Only thing I probably won't see until the game comes out is the actual cloth physics, which I hope the ps4 is able to do some what close to the PC version.

Either way I'm pretty happy with the results. Only 12 more days.

Just as awesome as I expected it to be. I am not expecting some of the advanced water, particle and cloth physics but this looks like it might be one of the best looking free roaming games on the PS4 when it releases.

Glad it looks good. My GeForce GTX 645 and i5-4430 wouldn't handle this game at all (can't even max Witcher 2, can Witcher 1 but even that I don't get 60fps when I do) so console is my only choice.

I have Witcher1/2 on Steam that I bought ages ago.

Do I have to play them to play Witcher 3? I'd like to pick this up for either PS4 or my XBone which hasn't seen much action lately, but I have never played 1 or 2.

You don't have to play the first two. CDPR says that first-time players will be given a decent recap of the important events that preceded Wild Hunt. And while the consequences of the choices made in the first two games will be pretty negligible, you'll be given the opportunity early on in the game to address some of them without importing a save through a special, optional dialogue early on in the game.

I'm personally going through the first two just to get a better impression of how certain aspects of the gameplay have advanced before diving into Wild Hunt.

Yes. At the beginning of the The Witcher 3 you will be prompted to a test asking questions about the previous games. If you fail you won't be able to start the game. I highly recommend playing both games and reading all story books about the Witcher's world.
(I am kidding my friend there will be a summary of the previous games at the begging of the story so don't worry about missing out!)

They have an in-game way of explaining the Witcher 1 + 2 story lines and a way for you to engage the important choices that happened in them should you have played them and want similar choices

Can someone tell me if my Laptop will run this better than my XBOX1?

ASUS Laptop G53SX-DH71

Intel Core i7 2670QM (2.20GHz)
12GB Memory
750GB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

I would not even try it with this thing.

it would run well (low - med settings) in 1366x768 (1360 x 768 variant) according to the benchmarks on that card.....but the xbox one version runs at a higher resolution.....so I'm going to say probably not.

Mobile cards are just not great, plus the driver support for mobile is trash

Ha, thanks for the answers. Think I may have to pick this up, it looks great.

Take Skyrim, add in a bunch of mature content, go third person and remove loading times, take away character customization. BAM! Witcher 3.

Damn you Amazon for delivering my CE on the 20th... less than 2 weeks and then I can finally play and peruse Ebay for the damned cloth map that's exclusive to the Xbone CE.

Im in a similar boat with a 3570k and a 7950 3GB video card. Hoping for a solid 1080p performance.

Then add next gen animation where enemies actually react to being hit and look natural instead of looking like super janky edited mocap,
CVfNw0.gif

and hair physics and cloth physics, add PBR for materials and skin, add a plot where your decisions actually matter, fill that plot with characters who aren't just mannequins awkwardly staying at you, add cutscenes, add in an incredibly dense but open world, and maybe you have the witcher 3.
