The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - E3 2014 Trailer - The Sword Of Destiny

Quite a popular one, too, it seems.
She's (among other things) the only female Witcher in existence.

I like her already.

But I can imagine there will be a lot of controversy if they switch to a female protagonist in this particular series. Geralt fits the mainstream audience perfectly, but a strong sword-wielding woman that perhaps share the same passion for sex and drama as Geralt? Oh the faces on some players. I can't wait. :)

Its good to know that nothing at E3 is gonna top this.

Visually it will be topped, actually after looking at the HD Gamersyde trailer it did not WOW me as much.

Game still looks stunning and is open world and so vast an expansive it will be amazing, but on a visual tricks and WOW factor I say The Order 1886 already beats it (closed linear I know but it we are talking JUST GFX) and Uncharted 4 WILL best it and most likely be the Game (Graphics) of the show.

Coming from someone who hated The Witcher 2, this trailer wowed me. I had goosebumps. That's how good the trailer was.

I hope the game isn't as arduous as Witcher 2, and if the combat is vastly improved, I may get it.

Or I'll probably wait a couple of years until the inevitable Steam sales hit.

I only played the Witcher 2 and read up a bit on the Witcher... But am I right in saying that Ciri is
a witcher, she was trained by Geralt but never had any of the genetic mutations?

I read that up ages ago but as I never played the first Witcher game the plot confuses me a little!
Yep, this is true.

Oh, I didn't know it was a known character. This makes me happy. :)

It should, she is absolutely badass in the books.

Was Ciri in the first Witcher game?

Why is she popular, besides as above mentioned that she's a Witcher

Ciri was Arya Stark before Arya Stark was Arya Stark

Absolutely right. Although she has other powers as well. She was trained by Geralt at first and later by Yennefer.

BTW: In the german books she calls herself a "Hexerin", with the word Hexer meaning Witcher, but the female form would be Hexe (witch) and not Hexerin, which would translate to something like Witcheress. As I never read the english versions, how does she call herself there? Just Witcher?

If we are talking asset quality or character models, maybe, but the sheer amount of effects at play here will ensure that no console game will touch this in the next few years.

you cannot be witcher without receiving mutation

If you want full backgroup on Ciri then only way is reading saga :)

Is the guy on the throne voiced by Tywin Lannister?

Great voice acting overall!

Yep, and he's glorious.

I'll have to play this game in English. I played the first one in French first and then Polish, and I only played the second one in Polish... But the voice acting in that trailer convinced me. All the characters that talk do a great job. And Charles Dance is awesome.

Am I the only one who really started to long for a Witcher game with a female protagonist when this character showed up in the trailer?

I wonder if we get to collect ploughing cards with men in witcher 4.
or maybe they'll make her bi, if she isnt already in the books.

I implore ANYBODY interested in this game to check out the GOG deal

- you get discounts for owning Witcher 1 + 2
- you get Neverwinter Nights
- artbooks
- soundtrack
- CREDIT FOR AUSTRALIAN OVERPRICING

I don't own a lot of GOG games but if this is the way they do games, I'm going to start shopping there more often.

Probably a dumb question but do you also get a STEAM key when you order from GOG? I will order from there anyway because the bonuses are bananas but just curious.

I hope CD Project Red makes a round-up for the 2 first games in the series. Just like Bioware did with Mass Effect 2 on the Playstation 3.

I really feel I'm missing out on the whole story and makes me skeptical to get into Wild hunt and the trilogy conclusion.

Do any of you know if they will implement something similar to the folks who wasn't able to play the first to games?

Signs? She straight up was in a relationship with a girl

More discussions about Ciri sexuality in the books (I can't believe I just wrote that lol).
But indeed she also has feelings for men, thats for sure. The funny thing is that like she is portrayed in the books, she is a very complex character and at least bisexual.

"playing" dumb? unpossible

See above. Right-click the game in your library -> View CD key -> Copy key to clipboard. Note that the "View CD key" option won't show up if the game isn't downloading/installed.

Can the GOG version of TW3 be used on steam, or would it just be linked to your library and not fully integrated? I want to support the devs directly, but I also like having everything done through steam in terms of DLC, mods, achievements, etc.

This game looks beautiful, I had to watch the trailer three times.

Such a shame my PC is too archaic to play TW and TW2. Is there a chance a collection of the two for consoles may be announced or is dev on 3 so vast the very idea is insane and unlikely?

Ok, I feel dirty now. Talking about the sexuality of an underage girl is ... weird. But you are right of course.

There is a compendium included with the standard edition of the game, and there's likely to be some material included in the game's journal.

Ciri is underage?
I know she was a kid in the books (I read The Last Wish long time ago) but she looks like an adult in that trailer at least.

If I recall correctly she is 17 at the end of the books, so she should be around 22 in this game
but yes, the talk before was dirty ;b
.

I'm immensely hyped for this game, almost all the major characters from the books are in, and the main theme of fighting against the Wild Hunt.. hells yeah!!

Glad to hear it. Playing Witcher 1 & 2 is, sadly, not an option for me. I hope someone in the fan community will make a comprehensive "everything you need to know" video for newcomers prior to the release.

Can we just say TW3 won E3 right now? There couldn't possibly be anything megaton worthy after that, unless it's like more footage of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

So you're a "Glass half empty" kind of guy, huh? Don't get me wrong, the trailer was indeed amazing, but I prefer to believe/hope E3 brings something better.

The latter. If you want Steamworks integration (assuming there's to be any) you'll need the Steam version.

Watch a "let's play" in youtube :p
You could just skip to the cutscenes anyway. But then again there are so many ways the story can go depending on your choices that it would suck to watch someone else make those decisions for you.

I'm imagining an ending where Geralt, Triss, Yennifer, your witcher bros and basically every other major character in the game have a last stand against the wild hunt to save Ciri.
