The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone |OT| Heroes of Gwent

Yep. He's more than meets the eye, apparently

Had a suspicion that he might a play a major in one of the expansions. Turns out, I was right. :D

Interesting, he seemed to know a lot about Geralt, I'm still deciding if just continue playing NG+ until I reach the expansion or just play the expansion with an old save.

Can't wait. At level 25 on my third playthrough so will spend the next few hrs getting to level 30. God i love this game.

Q: I've heard that you are automatically level up to 30 once you install the expansion. Is it true?

A: False. In case you don't have an existing save of Geralt at level 30 (NG)/level 60 (NG+), you can create a level 32 Geralt (And spend your own skill points) with only the base's game side-quests and the expansions quests enabled (Main story's quests are disabled)

How does this work?

I lost my save unfortunately.

You get an option to create a level 32 Geralt with decent gear and bunch of skill points to make your build.

Keep in mind that this option disables you from doing the main quests and allows you only to pursue the vanilla game's side-quests and the expansion's quests themselves

I have started a fresh game for this and am only like level 6, but I will get there soon enough. I am enjoying the hell out of playing the core game again anyway.

That's fine since I finished the game and just want to see the expansion.

Hopefully he has a nice gwent deck though!

Once more unto the breach!

I look forward to spending many hours on this game again. I was a bit sad when I finished the story that there was just side-stuff left.

I conveniently reached level 30 yesterday so this is just a load of extra content perfectly slotted into my game. The story is sort of reaching a crescendo for me so it'll be a little jarring to break from it but so be it.

I was gonna start NG+, but since Shani won't piss off Yen and I still have like 180 undiscovered locations and 30 unfinished contracts, I think I'm just gonna continue where I left off. Too much else to play right now anyway.

i might try shani's romance since i read it doesn't influence both yen or triss..(and also i already finished the game anyway)

Small correction to the OP - Game are selling the physical pack for £19.99, which is closer to 30 USD than 20, and that's before international shipping.

They seem to be out of the PC copy, but I might snap up the PS4 one and see if anyone bites for the code...

So, once this unlocks, a quest will appear in our quest logs, right?

Not sure. All I've heard that you start the quest by taking a look at one of the noticeboards.

If anyone finds how to start the expansion, you let me know

Can I play this even if I don't have level 60 in NG+?

Yes, provided you have a level 30+ with a pre-NG+ save.

If not, just create a level 32 Geralt which allows you to play the expansion with the base game's side-quests (But not the main quests, obviously)

I made an F.A.Q for a good reason, you know

Is the content actually locked if you're not lvl 30? If so that's pretty weird.

IIRC, you can start at the expansion at any time after you leave White Orchard, though it wouldn't be recommended since you'll get wrecked by level 30+ enemies in no time.

lol why is the dialogue blurred out in the pictures?

To avoid spoilers, obviously

Its getting late for me, so I'll answer your other questions later on when I'm awake. ;)

I'm ready to add another 10 hours to my 150. GOTY.

Dear North American gamers, as you might have heard, we prepared a special boxed edition of Hearts of Stone that was supposed to be sold in GameStop stores all over America.

However, it has come to our attention that, due to logistical problems, customers will be unable to obtain the physical edition of the game for several days after launch. We are working with GameStop to fix this situation as soon as possible and deeply apologize for the inconvenience.

If you don’t want to wait, you can still order the game in digital format and purchase your cards separately on www.redeemgwent.com.

Damn. I'm not sure if I'll wait for it.

Its unlocked now in EU. You get a big notice when you go to the menu screen saying thank you for purchasing the expansion when it activates. You get a quest in your quest log called Evil's Soft First Touches automatically when you come in the game that says Check the notice board outside the Seven Cats Inn.

Having the ability to play just the DLC with a pre-set character seems like a pretty neat idea actually. I wonder if you can continue playing the rest of the game (and if that scales) if you choose to go with that option.

I wouldn't be totally surprised to see some of this DLC go standalone if it's structured the right way to be honest.

I've got the Expansion Pass registered on my GOG account, but I never got a prompt to download the DLC. I'm from EU, too. Any ideas how to get to that DLC?

If I've read correctly, a pre-defined Geralt for Hearts of Stone means that you won't be able to do the main storyline quests (Outside of the expansion's quests, you'll be able to do the base game's side-quests).

So I'm level 30 now and haven't completed the main quest. Should I do the entire DLC before completing the main story? Or will that make me too high level once I get back to the main quest?

Am I locked out of the main story if I start the DLC?

Like said in the F.A.Q, you can play the expansion at any time. Not sure if you gonna be locked out from the main quests if you start the expansion, so I can't answer that, sorry

EDIT: I'm apologize for the confusion to some of the questions. The F.A.Q were made with most things I know so far about the expansion.

If there's any more important info to add into the OP for the F.A.Q, please let me know. For now, I'm off.

Yes! YES!! It's almost time.

The "Expansion Only" start is a really clever idea. It gives players the best of both worlds--a fully integrated chunk of content, and the ability to start it no matter your savestate. I'm honestly surprised this is the first open world game to do something like this. (For seamlessly integrated content.)

I started my NG+ last week but only made it to level 43 so far. I still have a while to go to get the expansion content but I knew what I was getting myself into when I started.

The main quest, once you reach a certain point, gives you tooons of xp, it's almost a cheat done by the designers to be sure every player would have a certain level once they reach some areas, to be sure they can finish the game. Imo, you should do the expansion before.

Are the enemies in the add on going to be leveled to your level, I worry the add on will be to easy if you are around level 36?

5 New Skills?!

Metabolism Boost - Adrenaline points are now used to reduce toxicity of drinked potions by 33% for each Adrenaline bar. Does not work on decoctions.
Trick Shot - You can shoot 2 times with crossbow without needing to reload.
Battle Frenzy - Adrenaline instead of increasing damage, now increase critical hit chance by 8% per bar
Strong Back - Increased maximimum Geralt's load by 60 units.
Advenced Pyrotechnics - Explosions (bombs) now generate 0.1 adrenaline per each blast.
