Feeling like a human sonar is annoying, constantly pressing a button is more irritating than just holding in a trigger, the cooldown gets in the way of trying to find things in a hurry, and that system would simply not work with the "follow the footsteps" missions.

There's some kind of miscommunication here. In The Witcher 2 you never constantly hit a button, nor would you if this system was ported over. I've played through about 90% of the game and cannot think of a time in which the Witcher 2 system wouldn't work just fine. Even for those following footsteps parts, which are the absolute worst parts of the game (should be redesigned entirely). I really don't understand the complaints you've listed, they certainly don't apply to Witcher 2 where this system actually exists.

You could even have it where a tap sends out a ping and holding it stays as is.

Man leveling up is taking forever. Found some bandits with a merchant kidnapped and killed them all pretty easily (ignii + scaring them off their horse + insta death) but whichever one is supposed to have the key didn't have the key... lol.

Do quests, killing monsters nets you about 0 Exp. I'm doing random quests in Novigrad right now and levelled up more times in three hours than in the 15 hours before.

Also, I have to say: Anyone who would choose Yennefer over Triss is crazy. Y'all crazy!

it wouldn't work for following footsteps because in w2 it was the medalion doing thing, in w3 it's geralts own skill finding those tracks

also w2 iirc had you stop to do a stupid animation and had a CD, fuck that thing
w3>>>w2 as far as that goes imho

Why should I keep clicking the stick literally all the time to be able to see and pick up objects from the ground? What's the fucking point, other than apparently discouraging player to explore and find stuff? If you have to have a stupid radar ping highlight objects system in place, at the very least you could make it so the player just has to hold down a button or something and the game keeps pinging.

I quite literally had to take breaks from DA:I cause my thumb started hurting.

Do you use Witcher sense "literally all the time?" Why?

What's "the fucking point" of the filter and the zoom?

Why are you ignoring The Witcher 2 and focusing so intently on DA:I, an entirely different game?

I don't know or care about DA:I at all. I brought it up because people seemed to intently focus on discussing that game and not The Witcher 2 - an entirely different game made by a different team that used a similar system (I guess) far better.

Well, both are just video game abstractions of the same idea. Neither actually makes sense; Geralt should be seeing the world with this level of focus all the time.

If you can adapt to it, I highly recommend playing with the minimap off. The game does a good enough job dotting iconic landmarks around and the landscape flows naturally (I can't think of another game that's so geographically authentic) that you can navigate perfectly well without it.

I realised I was spending far too much time just staring into the corner when exploring so I got rid of the minimap and now I can't go back. I do hope they add a compass option though.

I didnt even bother to verify since CDPR confirmed the bug. I've just decided to stop playing until it's fixed.

Will do the same now. Just finished another main quest and didn't get anything :( Should've gotten 800XP. Glad I made a few backup saves.

What is wrong with the tracking missions? He is hunting down a monster, so it makes sense, and it is interesting to hear Geralt piece what happened/what it is as he goes along.

She is just my type. Long black hair, light eyes and kind of a bitch.

A little confused by the notice boards. What's the point of some of these new notices that pop up that you can take but don't seem to open up New quests?

I do all the quests I come across, guess I'm just not doing enough lol.

Just had a really weird glitch or something. I was doing a quest where I was supposed to clear some formerly wealthy woman's manor of monsters. On the way I found a treasure quest and made that my active quest. When I completed that, the game automatically made one of the main story missions my active quest, which always happens. This time though the other quest seems to have vanished, when I want to make it my active quest again I couldn't find it. It's not even in completed or failed quests, it's just gone.

Oh its a good idea. But as is the game just becomes "hold a button and follow the line." There's no challenge or thought.

Idea is great, implementation not so much.

I think everyone and their dog knows that in this game you will have to choose between
Triss
and
Yennifer
as your love interest. Can someone help explain which one I should choose and what the benefits are? Is it purely whatever your preference is? I haven't played the previous games or read the books so I kind of don't care about either of them, but
Triss
seems to be more fun and pleasant, while
Yennifer
seems to not have any chemistry with Geralt and seems to have an attitude.

Does she make BDSM jokes with Geralt just before entering the lion's den? Triss is a real bro. She's also a redhead, so she wins by default <3

I have a question about Geralt. I'm at Velen, and I didn't find any answers to my question for now : In the
Keira Metz
quest I decided to stay faithful, but do you think Geralt is in love with Yennefer at the beginning of the game ?

I've said this earlier in the thread, but most people would probably be like Yen and be standoffish and have an attitude if your significant other (Geralt) slept with one of your best friends (Triss). I don't think it's that hard to sympathize with her. Triss comes across as the bubbly and fun one, but it's not like she's without her darker and more manipulative side.

Cause I'm talking about DA:I, it's what I've been talking about the whole time and YOU asked how it worked? What the fuck lmao. I never said a word about TW2, I never compared the two systems.

Don't take that condescending tone with me when you don't even seem to understand what I'm saying.

Glad I made a few backup saves.

I actually screwed myself. I was playing the DRM free version of the game, but thought I would switch to the GOG Galaxy version to get some achievements.

I uninstalled the DRM free version, and wasn't paying much attention and clicked a few boxes. Realized afterwards that one of the boxes I clicked was was to delete my save games. LOL, I am such a dumbass.

It's not just pressing down the button, it's also having Geralt stop in his tracks and perform a little animation every time you ping, killing any momentum. Even DAI didn't have that bullshit. Granted, this was only an issue if you cared about collecting plants in W2, but it would be a huge problem in W3 where you're often examining the environment. Plus the cooldown was pointless and annoying.

I find the Yennifer/Geralt scenes are some of the most honest portrayals of two bullheaded people in love I've ever seen. I'm very happy CDPR didn't take the easy route, shaving off Yennifer's rough edges and tanking the integrity of the dynamic to make her more immediately likeable.

Not to dismiss the Triss scenes either. If you play it cannon to the books, everyone's been on one side or the other of that kind of relationship. Its really refreshing to see it played out so emotionally true in a game. Can't comment on the non-book route but I'm confident its equally good.

Well, in the books Geralt merried Yennefer, also Triss is kinda a bitch. I mean, in the book there's not this "love story" between Geralt and Triss like in the games, they only made sex once, and later Triss kinda betrayed Geralt and Yennefer.

Damn, now I feel bad for
cheating on Yen with Keira. I hope that doesn't come back to bite me :( .
Based off what you guys said I'm going to try and romance Yen.

OK, fair enough on the third, my mistake.

Can you answer the first two question?

How is this any different to following tracks in real life?

Irrelevant, I'm interested in what makes a good game. there should be some element of gameplay in these segments. As it stands they might as well be scripted walking sections. It'd be fun if they had decoy tracks or more instances of monsters taking flight, moving over rocks, or otherwise disguising their footprints. Something that puts the player in Geralt's head-space.

Yeah credit where credit's due, they make the choice really tough and both of their sidequests are great. Except for the binary dialog stupidity at the end of Now or Never.

It won't. You can even have sex with both LI, the only thing that matters is that you don't say "I love you" to the both of them.

That's not really an argument. This is a videogame and its mechanics need to be compelling, not realistic.

I agree that the detective parts are a little lackluster and simplistic, since all you do is walk around until you see the red glow, but I can forgive them as they're mostly there to add some sort of flavor and isn't a very major mechanic.

I'm kinda mad that wasn't an actual quest.

OOOOOOOOODRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNN

I love that it made it into this game. I remembered very little of the story of the Witcher 2, but every time someone asked me about the game I'd respond with "Odrin, here boy, Ooooodriiiiiin!"

Can't wait to replay it.
