I’ll be honest with you I barely remember if they were even described that way. I’d love it if you can point me to a specific book and page it is in. Like I have all the books a meter away from me right now.
The most I remember are people describing Geralt as weird looking as he is an Albino due to the modified trial he did. Not to mention all the sorceress that had all the hots for him. I doubt he is ugly.

I didn't have an issue with the redesign... probably because it's been so long since The Witcher 3 and this feels like it's kind of a reboot of sorts.
What I'm more concerned about is whether or not they fixed the gameplay, frankly.

Not about ugly for me, i played and loved Papa Nier so i can love any character, i just hate when they change original character design to something not similar, you saw here how can an ai make a better mature Ciri (awesome character and trailer was very good), they went with a model of an actress instead of making it believable, to me this is barely the same character... when i saw the trailer i didn't even realised it's Ciri.. only the ashen hair looked the same, i really hope they will adjust her model to be more like the first games Ciri.

I wanted to create my own character but it seems CDPR has a plan in mind, i trust their vision, they are one of the best writers in the industry.
Looking forward for the W4 DLC.
I expect great art direction, atmosphere, quests and this time combat as well.
However i dont think it will have as good of cast as Witcher 3 did or as good of a dialogue, but they will 1000% improve the combat a lot since that is the main criticism people have.
You can tell that Ciri will feature a hybrid between magic and witcher abilities which will make combat better.
If they failed with combat then its going to be embarrassing, in 2011-2015 there wasn't a lot of mainstream games with good action combat, but now with Souls becoming mainstream, God of War, Wukong and various other ARPG, Witcher 4 should have top tier combat system.

I think the new ciri looked great and just looked different cause she's older and more mature. I also didn't mind the voice change at all and by the time the game comes out i doubt anyone will notice or care about the change too much.

The very fact of replacing an actress puzzles me. This happens in the film industry too, when for some reason an actor can no longer act in a role and they replace him, and even there no one likes it because everyone has already gotten used to this actor. In the gaming industry, this situation is even more stupid, because you have no connection to the actor, you scanned the actor, you have a model, you can use it, you do not need a model to be constantly present on set. And everyone has gotten used to the character's code appearance over the years, and here the appearance changes for some unknown reason. For what reason? So that after the first trailer, everyone who does not have cataracts in their eyes will immediately see that the face is not the same? Well, yes, we noticed, great.

Jo Wyatt while great at voice acting is now 54 years old, vs someone young who can do motion capture, and has a lower tone to their voice to play an older Ciri despite being younger.

Sure. As others have stated, maybe she wasn’t able to play the role due to her aging vocal cords. Doesn’t happen to every actress, but why else swap her out? People liked how she played the role, no?

If we're going to bring Lisa Simpson's VA into the conversation, it's worth noting that her VA doesn't need to do mocap, whereas Ciri's new VA will. Lisa Simpson's VA can also get away with her age, because Lisa doesn't sound like an 8 year old to begin with. Which is fine because it's a cartoon.
I love Jo Wyatt's voice actress too, but people aren't being reasonable with their complaints about her getting replaced. This is a new trilogy that will likely take 15-20 years to complete, when you consider the length of game development. It'll likely be too demanding for Jo, especially at her age, to continue voicing a young woman and do all the required mocap performances, all between the age of 54 - 74. Not to mention she'll probably be asking for way more money than Ciara.

i'm just so happy we get to play as ciri and not some character nobody cares about or one that CDPR made up themselves. Cir is the main character of the books alongside Geralt. If you've only played the games then her not being in 2 of them would make you think she isn't that important. There is no witcher story without ciri.

they aren't using her likeness and this is a CGI trailer. geralt looked quite different in game vs in the CGI trailers.

I remember JJ Abrams saying how good Daisey Ridley was before TFA, and how easy she was to work with. Not sure if Abrams is literally blind and deaf but she was absolutely horrid in those films.
