Is there some reason Igni seems to only work about 30% of the time?
I mean the enemy just shakes it off like nothing happened, and they take no damage. Like sometimes they ignite and burn, other times they just smoke a little and take no damage at all
Sinner-Will said:Burning - Any time an enemy gets "burning" applied to it (excluding certain foes and foes that are heavily resistant -yet still capable of burning-), it halts their actions (movement, attack animations, etc...) for the duration of the burn. However, if you attack an enemy that is burning, you will cancel out the remaining panic effect that results from a burn (and possibly all subsequent DoT damage that would've continued to damage it as well). Basically, having a rune to ignite foes on your sword can be a life-saver, particularly against multiple enemies that aren't immune since it can save you from taking hits and even act like a mild form of CC if you understand to switch targets after igniting a foe, but... if you're just spamming sword attacks on a single-target, you'll tend to cancel out your burn effect quite often via successive attacks following burn procs. Burning TENDS to have the shortest duration of all 3 DoT's, however, against foes that are highly vulnerable to it, it can have a significant duration (often-times leaving a foe crippled in agony until it dies).
Yeah, that was a great battle. Brutal on Deathmarch.Just completed the Jenny O the Woods contract.
Fuck me, I think this is the quest that tests whether you have a grasp of the combat or not and use the options at your disposal. This is the quest where the game says fuck you, use your brain and get gud.
"Bad combat" my arse.
I've read that attacking enemies while they're on fire can cause the effect to be canceled, which is one thing I now keep in mind.

And what Philtastic mentioned. When you're low level signs have less intensity, and some enemies are fire-resistant.
I got the Axii upgrade that mind controls, so i use it on someone and he turns green and then nothing, just sits there moving around but doesn't attack the enemy. Am I missing something?
You need to upgrade it to the second tier.
Hold the button down instead of just pressing it.I am using the alternate form already. It says "enemy becomes an ally and deals 20% more damage ". And when i use it, he does change colors (name turns green). But he still doesn't attack enemies.

Having the upgrade isn't enough, you need to actually assign that upgrade to one of the spare slots.I got the Axii upgrade that mind controls, so i use it on someone and he turns green and then nothing, just sits there moving around but doesn't attack the enemy. Am I missing something?

Yea was doing that too. I figured it out, it was just a weird quirk in the AI where it wasn't working for that particular enemy. It's been working fine ever since.
Yeah, it can be either.Skellige King's Gambit side quest spoilers below.
DoesCerys always become queen? Or is this based on the choice of who you help after the berserkers massacre the guests at the feast?

In heart of stone, how do i beat the olifieri mage? He teleports whenever i get near him
GHG said:Guys where's the best place to sell stuff like armour and weapons in the game these days?
I have a shit load of stuff in my stash that I will likely never use and want to get rid of for some coin but most merchants I come across will only give me shit money for my stuff.
Be aggressive and he will try to take you on in melee.
Also, you can run away from the fight.
Anyone guys?:
I prefer to beat him.
What do you mean be be aggressive? How do i make him attack me in melee?
Not sure if there is a best place to sell, I usually sell to the armorer and blacksmith at Castle on Ard Skellige, since they are right next to a fast travel point.
Always sell weapons to a blacksmith and armor to an armorer to get the best price for your loot.
Finally finished the botchling story quest in Velen on Death March. God damn what a horribly designed quest.
I originally tried this at level 5 when I first got there. Got absolutely decimated on the first pack of wraiths, 2 hours later and I hadn't even beaten the first batch. To make matters worse there is 0 maneuverability in the area, and you have to sit through 1 minute of loading screen and 2 minutes of bullshit leadup to the fight. So you get like 30 seconds of fighting for every 3 minutes of waiting. Complete shit. I would have kept trying but then I read there is no checkpoint after you beat them, and the next pack is twice as hard.
So I went and did basically everything else in Velen and then some of Novigrad. Got to level 11, full Griffin gear + Griffin silver sword, farmed up materials for a Reliever's Decoction, made Enhanced Specter Oil, and completely melted them.
From what I've read this is one of the hardest fights in the game on Death March, so hopefully I'm in the clear from now on.
Definitely feels good to have that over with though.

Bought the strategy guide today thinking it would tell me where to find various items, have merchant inventories, etc. What a complete pile of shit. Useless guide. Big ass list of weapons, and absolutely no information whatsoever about where to obtain them. Literally the only reason I even wanted the thing
This is one of the big reasons I'm a firm believer that typical RPG elements should have been left out of this game. Leveling and inventory/equipment are the absolute worst aspects of this game where the former arbitrarily limits what quests you can do (leading to your frustrating situation. Also makes things you out-level too easy) and the latter is just annoying to manage given how many items there are in the game. This game really should have played more like a character action game, especially since Geralt is a legendary witcher, while retaining a customizable ability tree for different play styles. The Witcher 3 doesn't need a leveling system because the story and quests are compelling enough reasons to progress through the game.
On the topic of this wraith fight, I had actually recorded this in May last year when the game came out but didn't post it because it's a huge spoiler. Now that the game has been out for so long, here's a video of me beating them at level 5 on Death March on my 4th attempt. The quest design is fine, especially since this is an optional branch of the quest. You may not be as good at the game as you think you are. Keys to the fight were Yrden to slow them down as well as timing dodges and rolls for when they teleported behind and doing so toward unobstructed directions. Potion use helped keep Yrden up and my health high. It is a difficult series of fights, and you can hear my relief at the end

Half the fun is exploring (and trying not to get killed) and finding treasure.
Most of the Witcher sets I found were because I randomly happened upon them while exploring. I wouldn't trade that sensation for anything.
Aren't alchemy formulas (at least advanced ones) RNG based?I found most of them myself as well, but i was looking for a specific relic weapon and alchemy formula to prepare for a fight. Anyway what good is a list of items with no clue how to obtain? Just makes no sense

Decided to do Hearts of Stone right now, instead of waiting for Blood & Wine to come out and doing them one after the other. How much content am I looking at, here? 5-10 hours of quests? Are there any new side quests (well, I suppose HoS is a bunch of side quests in itself, but you know what I mean) and if yes, does it say somewhere they're HoS quests?

At the very least you should be allowed to save between fights or have a checkpoint. 3 minutes of waiting for ecery 30 seconds of playing is just bad design
Unrelated question: After i beat the game, can i use my same character to begin HoS in the same world with all the choices ive made and it just picks up where the story left off? Or is it different?
You can manually save any time you want when not in active combat. Also you can set the auto save time to a lower number so it saves more often.
Yes you can use the same character. Decisions from the main game don't affect HoS.
There are main quests and secondary quests and a whole bunch of ?...if you devour all of these things in total, and explore, it'll last you more than 10 hours easily.
They will all be marked blue in quest list
There are a few secondary quests but the bulk of the content are the main quests. Also every new quest is shown in blue in your journal.
It took me around 18 hours to complete. I'm a slow player though.
You explicitly cannot save between the two wraith fights, it's blocked even though there's no active combat
What's the best way to level up quickly? I'm level 27 and I almost have all of the side quests and contracts done but I'm still so far from the dlc level requirement of 32. I realize I can access the quests but the enemies are way too hard even if I drop the difficulty. I haven't finished the game yet because I wanted to do the dlc first since apparently the game is "over" after you beat it and you can't just keep going to finish any sidequests or dlc you didn't do.
Play crucible, and do crucible bounties.
Do the strike playlist, and you can replay all the story missions if you want, though they won't give out a lot of xp.
Bounties will reset in 8 hours, so you can pick them up again from the tower.
You can do Hearts of Stone after you finish the main game - that's when I did it. After you finish the main game you're dropped back in the world. Any quests tied to characters are probably voided (due to the chain of events triggered by the ending) but other stuff should still be available to do (most side quests, contracts, etc.).What's the best way to level up quickly? What.....? Are we talking Destiny or the Witcher? What is the crucible?
