Anyone know how these eps are doing in the ratings so far? Nielsens are so ridiculous and out of date though, are networks also gauging streaming and DVR related data now?

I'm pretty sure "You forget I'm immortal" was a reference to
Clyde Bruckman telling Scully "you don't" after she asked him how she dies.

Written by Darin Morgan, too.

edit: Haha, I keep getting beaten to the punch tonight.

Btw this is how you insert an iconic line into the story.

Yeah, that's an all time favorite for me. The monster twist, Scully being super hot, great acting by the monster guy, lot of little references, and an ending that finally validated (in a fun child-like way) Mulder's beliefs.

It worked on a lot of levels.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Wow that was an excellent episode, really brought back the feelings from the show so many years ago.

I haven't seen the first two episodes but heard the premier episode wasn't great.

It's actually in a later season as well. Doesn't death pass her by? Can't remember the episode.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
What did Guy say to Mulder at the end? DVR kicked in and changed the channel between the like last minute before "Likewise" and "I want to believe."

Monster: "Even though this has been a trying time for me, I'm glad to have meet you."

Mulder: "Likewise."

Tithonus is the ep.

A guy was passed over by death and lived for over a hundred years until he became weary of life. He "tracked" death by following people he could sense were about to die.

In the end he watched for death to take Scully and took her place, so Scully missed death like he did, so death will not look for her again.

Yup. Just looked it up. Might give it another watch soon.

Yeah I burned through the entire show to brush up for season 10 and it was great. Really loved the funny twist on the tried and true man turns into a monster story.

I am honestly impressed how well everyone got back into these classic characters and we got a great episode on top of that.

Yep. People will want to let it sink in before making such a claim but as someone who recently watched all nine seasons, there is little doubt in my mind that it is up there.

The writing and dialogue was so damn amazing, and there was so much visual attention to detail.

The actor that played Guy was absolutely perfect for it as well.

edit: Does anyone have a screengrab of Guy sitting around lounging in the forest with a weed in his mouth before he got bit? I absolutely love that shot.

When I am president Darin Morgan will have to write and direct every episode of The X-Files and it shall run forever.

Vote for me.

That episode is probably in the Top 10 for the series.

Yeah. It's no Clyde Bruckman's but it's right around Jose Chung's, which puts it top 10 for me pretty comfortably.

Welllll Clyde Bruckman also told Scully she never dies and he saw how everyone dies. I'm sure it's more of a call back to that episode, because Darin wrote that one too.

Jack Hardy. The tombstone Guy Mann is standing in front of is for the late Jack Hardy, an assistant director on two Chris Carter series—Millennium and The Lone Gunmen. He held the same position on the second X-Files movie, I Want to Believe. Julie Ng, who is working on the behind-the-scenes features for the season ten X-Files blu-ray, told me that Hardy was an especially beloved member of the Vancouver film community.

It's definitely a reference to "Clyde" but we were talking about how it's also brought up/reinforced in "Tithonus".

I was laughing so hard when Mulder was looking through the peeping tom mask lol. There's no dialogue, it's just the visual touches have so much charm, like when Mulder peeps his way through the door to the main office of the hotel.

Or the shot where Guy was standing in a drive through between two cars ordering fast food.

I loved it when Guy said "That's when I did something irrational, I had no idea why I did it"

Mulder "You murdered someone and ate their flesh?"

Guy"No!! I got a puppy!!"

There's so much in this episode.

Forgive a guy busting in here and not getting fully caught up. I do it on the high of The X-Files being great television for the first time in 17 or so years (I bailed out during season 5 after Morgan and Wong left and for me the show took a real dive).

Darin did what Darin does tonight. When I heard both Morgans and Wong were writing for the new series, for the first time in ages I got excited. Carter's episode was his usual nonsense. Wong's was solid stuff, but tonight was the episode I was really looking forwards to, and it delivered on every cylinder.

I'm glad Carter recognizes that this group of writers were The X-Files. I hope if they do another mini series, that he holds onto them.

That shot of Mulder in the red speedo

And it's already had more great episodes than any season since 4. :p

Glen's episode looks promising even if it doesn't look like the straight sequel to Home I'd been hoping for.

Is it going to be more of a scary/supernatural episode? It kind of looks that way.

Who expected the return of the red speedo tonight? I didn't. It made me laugh a lot though.

It seems that way from the previews, but
in at least *one* shot there is something that my brain is telling me is one of the brothers from Home walking down a flight of stairs
, so I don't know. But I think my brain is just being overly optimistic.

this was so great

ONLY 3 LEFT, SHIT

don't know the situation concerning more seasons, but they have to be coming!

I guess we'll have to see how figures held up for tonight. Hopefully the buzz for this episode helped keep them strong. I want more.

Never thought I'd be saying that, but I do. If I have to get 3 new Chris Carter episodes on the side. Whatever. It doesn't change a thing. I want more.

Wow. What an amazing episode. I always liked how this series could have these really funny episodes and this was one of the best from a humor standpoint. The twist with the monster was extremely clever. I loved all the neat references from earlier moments in the series. I just absolutely loved this episode.

Awesome episode. So great. I'd love if they did the X-Files like those British series that film just a handful of episodes every year or two. I'd take six episodes a year of quality stuff like this gladly.

Yup. A limited run packed with good writing talent is what I want to see. Something to keep the actors interested as well. I would like to see it bumped to 8 though.

Make that a dozen so we get 8 MOTW episodes and you have a deal.

Seriously though who asked for more Aquarius? After tonight's episode I don't want Duchovny to leave for that.
