God, this episode was so good. I actually prefer the serious ones to the goofy ones, but holy hell was this great. xD
I am also really interested in the ratings, especially since Chris Carter already said that the whole season will end on a cliffhanger. D:

I think Fox is going to open up the coffers on this.

Duchovny was quoted from EW saying "I would be open to doing another cycle. I don't know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don't know that Gillian could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn't bring it back with the idea of ending it."

And let's be honest, Fox NEEDS this right now. All of their other original programming doesn't put up near the numbers X-Files can. Gotham is struggling, New Girl is struggling, with numbers far below half of what the 2nd episode of this X-Files has done domestically. American Idol is ending, they're in a bind right now for programming.

I don't think they will do a 20 episode season next, but I do think it will be somewhere around 12-15.
A 10 or 12 episode run ala 24: Live Another Day would be wonderful.

Catching up on this now.

Episode 1: Literally started bursting out laughing during that huge exposition dump between Mulder and O'Malley. One of the silliest scenes I've seen in a TV show in awhile. Scully's reaction is how I imagine a lot of the audience felt about that moment. Didn't help that it was sandwiched between the poorly acted argument between Mulder & Scully and the car explosion. Best part of the episode was the original opening.

Episode 2: Now THIS is what I was expecting. Hits the ground running with and dialogue and pacing is pitch perfect for this series. Exactly what you would expect from an X-Files revival. Kacey Rohl as the young girl at the hospital was a nice surprise. Always loved her work on Hannibal, and literally just saw her on The Magicians right before watching these episodes. Haha

Episode 3: Loved it. Definitely one you can comfortably call a future fan favorite. Mulder being cynical and skeptical about the case had me rolling. And running around with his cellphone taking pictures...Classic.

I knew Duchovny would actually act in this episode. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to do the show just for this one episode. It was that good.

Damn Gillian!

Did the tombstone beside Kim Manners' have any significance, or was it just a manufactured name? They showed it prominently.

Jack Hardy. The tombstone Guy Mann is standing in front of is for the late Jack Hardy, an assistant director on two Chris Carter series—Millennium and The Lone Gunmen. He held the same position on the second X-Files movie, I Want to Believe. Julie Ng, who is working on the behind-the-scenes features for the season ten X-Files blu-ray, told me that Hardy was an especially beloved member of the Vancouver film community.

It really felt like David Duchovny was starting to find the character again in this episode. If they get another season after this he'll be on fine form.

I'd say Founder's Mutation felt like Duchovny was starting to find the character again, and this new episode was him nailing the character completely.

Which one would argue makes no sense because Founder's Mutation was made after, but I guess that's what great writing can do to an actor's performance.

was bit underwhelmed after all the praise it got, up until the twist. but that twist made this episode, a bit too goofy and clumsy at times, but definitely very good and recommendable.
Rhys Darby was excellent, too. I just wanted to mention that.

Do I need to watch the first episodes, to watch the most recent one? The negative impressions are turning me off.

Fuck the first episode. You don't need it. Watch episode 2 though, I liked it. Honestly episode 1 told you nothing you needed to know

Mulder and Scully back at the FBI for reasons. Saved you 45minutes.

Good episode, but a little bit too goofy/out there at times. I would have prefered the comedy to be a little more sublte.

I guess it's no big deal but season 10 has way too vibrant colors compared the the original run.

Do you guys think he really was a lizard man or just crazy/midlife crisis?

I get this episode is working on a few levels about getting older, being an adult, being depressed etc. Just enjoy reading how others interpret stuff

Didn't really like this one, much prefer the serious tone ones. I did snicker a couple of times, but the last episode was better to me than this one.

He was. Mulder saw him transform.

It definitely achieve everything it sets out to do in your spoiler as well.
