So I'll start one,

Just picked up Interpol - Antics and by JOVE it's good.

Next exit
EVIL
Narc
and slow hands are awesome tracks, and that's my initial impression. That's basically half the cd anyway.

Also had a wee 'preview' of the new QOTSA album. sounds good!

EDIT: Best vocalist thread doesn't count :p

I just heard The Shins Chutes Too Narrow for the first time. I'm typically not into their flavour of rock-pop, but I really love that album. <3

Well, for what it's worth, here's the listening-to-at-work list:

Ulrich Schnauss, A Strangely Isolated Place (fucking top-shelf awesome)
M83, Before The Dawn Heals Us (mediocre except for 2-3 tracks)
The Album Leaf, In A Safe Place (good stuff...liking it more every time)
Eels, Souljacker (double-album coming SOON, baby)
Lemon Jelly, '64-'95 (good stuff, somewhat uneven but growing on me)

I LIKES MUSIC. HERE'S WHAT I'M LISTENING TO:

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower - Love in the Facist Brothel
Tori Amos - The Beekeeper
Bright Eyes - Fevers and Mirrors and everything else, basically...
Xiu Xiu - Knife Play
Hot Snakes - Audit in Progress
LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem
Sunn O))) - Flight of the Behemoth
Of Montreal - The Sunlandic Twins

And just because it's so good, and everyone needs to listen to it, I'm going to actually discuss why you should listen to this next record:

Jennifer Gentle - Valende

Woah holy shit. I was told "Listen to this, Zack, you will love it." And, oh, love it I do. Jennifer Gentle is a psychedelic folk/pop/anything else band from Italy. This is their third record, and it was recently released on Sub Pop, so it shouldn't be all that hard to find. The album is a cacaphony of sounds, noises, great hooks, recorders (!!!) and all around awesomeness. The first couple tracks are super fun whimsy pop tracks, and then from there it just kind of grows. It gets way more dense and big and less reliant on verse-chorus-verse songwriting. Listening to the middle stretch of tracks reminded me a lot of the Books. The end of the album is just killer, the last minute of the last track made me sit there slack jawed. Seriously, dudes. Most of you don't buy records anyway, listen to it at the very least. It's like $12, go buy it. Or better yet, they're touring the US (with Dead Meadow) in the near future-- go see them live.

Here's a sample track: http://www.subpop.com/scripts/main/download.php?url=/downloads/free/I_Do_Dream_You288.mp3&mid=288

It's one of my favorite tracks, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Listen to it, crave more, and check out the record.

It definitely gets my stamp of approval.
