Bought 4 movies from Hollywood Video for $17 total. One that I was looking for that I knew was cool(Tales From The Hood) and 3 new ones. I really enjoyed two of them.
Sinbad from Dreamworks was alright but nothing I really wanted to see again. The pirate movie from Disney(Treasure Planet) was the shit though.
He Got Game. I loved this movie. It went in places you wouldn't expect. A movie featuring hoops set in the ghetto without a heavy hiphop soundtrack. Shady characters that come across intelligently without stereotypical dialogue. The killer being the sympathetic character and the main character who comes off as unlikeable yet understandable. Plus it the ending while not happy isn't exactly a downer either. Plus the scenes where Denzel half-abuses Jesus while thinking he's helping him struck real familiar for me.
Deep Rising. I was waiting for a movie like this. People getting slaughtered in interesting greusome ways. Some scenes actually got me shivering. The monsters were cool as hell. And it was appropriately gory. It also gets plusses for being funny. Awesome. My favorite scenes were the lady getting sucked down the toilet. The guy trying to kill himself. And that ending was badass.
Speaking of the last one does anyone know any good monster movies where people get fucked up? I'm thinking Anocondas but it seems kind of tame, and I sure as FUCK aint paying 8 dollars for it.
