"Mom I said I wanted an Xbox for Christmas"
"Don't worry sweetie, the store clerk assured me that this too is an Xbox"

300 IQ by Phil. It's already too late, they've entered your life and you're in their eco system.

I walked by one of these ads pasted on a wall yesterday. A quite large one. It looks so fucking goofy irl. The cat box panel, in particular. It really draws the eye and even the cat looks confused.

Even the slogan itself is kinda clunky. Well maybe it's for my non-native ear, but it's like... doesn't sound, and these things should be catchy.

Since you wouldn't be interested, and downloading a Xbox app would be your choice, Why would it matter? But also, MS is a 3rd party dev anyway. So technically PS5 and Switch are Xboxes considering Xbox has games on them.

Since when does a third party publishing a game on a device make that device something else?

The copywriting for this campaign is atrocious. I get what they're going for but it's clumsy and uninspired.
Clumsy is the word. Might have nodded off stumbling through the whole jumble if it wasn't for clonking my head on the angular wordiness of it all. It's awful.

I think that's a smart move for the brand considering they probably stop making hardware at some point. But i'm not surprised people here hate it.

Again, why does it matter? Complaining only draws attention to the campaign, so it's working.

Only works for those who are willing to blindly buy into the gaslighting. I don't think the folks who are mocking this campaign (what you call "complaining") are among those.

Why does it matter? Do you get the exact same games, experience, etc. on those devices that you get with an actual Xbox console? No, you do not. It matters because it is a false equivalence.

After having read many posts on this enthusiast forum, it's clear to me that many are unfortunately not capable to grasp the difference between an ecosystem/service and a mere box of plastic.

This information campaign is obviously sorely needed.

Oh, and btw, my PC is also a Playstation :D

Folks are fully "capable" of understanding the analogy that is being presented with this marketing campaign and thinking it is stupid at the same time.

"La XBOX está en todas partes. Está a nuestro alrededor. Incluso ahora, en esta misma habitación"

"Lo que sabes no lo puedes explicar, pero lo sientes. Lo has sentido toda tu vida"

Tal vez no vemos lo que vemos, no somos lo que somos, tal vez vivimos en Xbox y la percepción de lo que vemos no es real. Si el exterior es una ilusión, ¿quién soy yo?

At this point I think the next Xbox will merely be a little box to stream digital games/Game Pass.
I'm not expecting a typical console from them.

Xbox should thank their stars that Jaguar is a lock for the worst ad of the year prize by a landslide, or they'd be mocked by more than just the gaming community

It is what it is. Its the best route for them. Ms and Valve are entering ecosystems, that are also made by 3rd party devices like Asus,Dell, etc etc.
PC's, Handheld hybrids and console hyrbids made by 3rd party, and also some by themselves (Steamdeck, and Xbox)
This takes pressure off them having to have sale numbers for consoles and handhelds like the previous Xbox's, Steammachine etc

I wonder if Xbox will do a 1st party only version of gamepass, like EAplay and Ubisoft,Take2 etc? So they can release it on Steam, Playstation, Nintendo and other platforms. It wouldn effect 3rd party publishers that are on those platforms.

As Xbox begins to ride off into the sunset and begin to do weird shit like this, we must now take this time to ponder and reflect. Is this supposed to fool people or something?

I don't think they're trying to fool people at all. This is just another step in their plan to make video games a software service you subscribe to instead of a device you buy. Personally I think it's too early to be going this way, which is why they're doing so poorly at it.

I wonder if they'll do rediculous and stupid commercials like "what are you doing daugter!?" "i'm just playing xbox mom!" *turns on samsung tablet*
