They really should do a sequel to Face/Off.

I rewatched Face/Off yesterday, which is something I hadnt done in a while

I really love this movie. Like, I get what's bad about it, and most of all I get the wasted potential of the concept of a cop having to wear the face of the madman who murdered his child and shit like that. The mirror visuals, the real simple but kinda deep? nature of the film's plot and concept is something so appealing to me for some weird reason

and then John Woo and Travolta and Cage what the fuck? this is amazing

we don't really see Castor Troy's body aftermath.

what's great about the idea of a sequel is not only that (like highlighted in the how did this get made ep) we could get to see how fucked up that kid that ends up in the Travolta family ends up being

BUT

this movie entertains the possibility that we can have ANY ACTOR PLAYING NIC CAGE

maybe Castor Troy was alive and got a new face

a new famous actor's face. who is playing their own version on Nic Cage

and of course, at some point he gets his fucking face back, or WHATEVER, and it's nic cage out-crazying the crazy portrayal some other new actor had of him

what? what is John Woo doing? the fuckin Crossing 2? fuck you

edit: im gonna edit in my pitch cause I believe in it

Face/Off 2

hear me out

Castor Troy went down as a legend in the underground crime world

nick cassavettes survived the bullet wound and is in possesion of nic cage's body

he gets a hold of that private company's face tech. he works with someone inside who wants money on the side

he offers through his sleazy underground channels an opportunity to wear the actual Castor Troy's face

villains and ex-cons from Erewhon prison love the legend of Castor Troy so much, one of them (new top actor dude) takes up Cassavettes offer when he's released from Erewhon, after hearing about the crazy outbreak and becoming fascinated with Troy

he gets Troy's face. BOOM nic cage is on the film

twist: Castor Troy was working with Cassavettes the whole time and was actually ALIVE, now he has NEW TOP ACTOR FACE and is free and un-wanted once more

twist2: he ends up wanting his face back and gets a cloned model of it. resulting in final fight being Cage vs Cage

John Travolta is an alcoholic failure now cause he couldnt save his marriage.

He realizes Nic Cage wearing his face did a better job as a father and husband than he ever did. Joan Allen leaves him, his daughter dies of a drug overdose, and he's alone. new kid with his mom

he's crazy and his house is a mess full of broken mirrors, pics of cage, booze bottles on the ground, cliched hit bottom guy stuff

he gets called by the bureau to help out with this "there's some guy wearing castor troy's face" since he knows a lot about him. he's the only one

but, nobody knows he's crazy. he keeps it cool

cause ultimately, he ends up getting his hands on another copy of Nic Cage's face. He's obssesed with him and how during the plot of the first movie he was a better man than he could ever be. He's in love with him, he wants to be him

he puts the face on (Face/On?), with the intention of killing the other 2 Cages and be the man he always wanted to be, the man he still has inside of him.

Cage vs Cage vs unexpected third Cage

edit:

movie is now called Cage/Off

It's been a while since I watched it but since they technically only switch faces, do their bodies still resemble the others? Or like when John Travolta takes Nick Cage's face does he also take his body build too?

I'd take it over whatever John Woo is doing these days, seriously the guy went back to China to make films and they aren't fun movies, they are over long and overwrought.

I just watched the movie for the first time on Saturday. I'm always down a movie with more crazy Nic Cage and literally everything in it being explosive somehow.

new tech: they can now even clone the face

otucome? final Face off is Cage vs Cage

uncaged

is anyone writing this down

dude is clearly up to the crazies again. look at the last ghost rider

Cage was better at pretending he was Travolta pretending to be Cage than Travolta was pretending he was Cage pretending to be Travolta.

Travolta needs replacing.

The movie has to slowly turn into the Malkovich scene from "Being John Malkovich"

Saw it twice when it came out in theaters. Still love it. Best American John Woo movie. Not sure a sequel would work.

Woah what a coincidence, I did the same thing yesterday too and I hadn't done so since many years ago. I was on a 90s action movie marathon, which included Bad Boys and Armageddon. After FaceOff I kinda wondered who was the better action movie director at the time, John Woo or Michael Bay.

Then I watched The Rock; no one could top Michael Bay in the 90s.

You aiming too low.

We meed two sequels to complete the first trilogy and three prequels.

I will let you sort out the details.

Dick/Off

A detective must go undercover in the seedy underbelly of the porn industry. In order to do so, he takes the identity of one of the most notorious porn stars in the business. A breakthrough in face/off technology has allowed the transfer of not only faces, but sexual organs as well. It's up to one man to penetrate the criminal enterprise, through any holes necessary.

I'm probably in the minority but really hate this movie. I mean how can anybody
believe that there's a super secret milti million US complex making super secret experiments with face transplants, without proper security or communication and it's wipe out by just 1 guy

And no, Nic Cage is not a valid answer

.. THAT'S your issue with this film's plausibility?

It was on Watch last night, I hadn't seen it in years. HDTGM had an episode about it last week, so I thought I may as well watch it again. Didn't enjoy it really, it's aged worse than Con Air and it certainly is no The Rock. Wouldn't be excited for a sequel.

OP, face it, your ideas are horrible.

THIS is how a Face/Off sequel should go down:

  1. The year is 2024, humanity as we know it is dead except for one man Sean Archer (John Travolta)
  2. After the beta of an experimental video-chat app went horrifically wrong, the world's population was assimilated into the internet via their webcams to serve as the FBI's RAM slaves
  3. Their physical bodies are still intact on Earth though, and thus so are all their faces
  4. Sean Archer was left behind and is trying to find a way into Cybearth to rescue his family and the human race
  5. The FBI finds out and declares him a traitor, and in the real world they digitally resurrect Castor Troy (The Cage) his greatest enemy via Coachella hologram technology
  6. These invincible projections of Castor Troy eventually hunt down Sean Archer and in a brutal, melodic piano-backed scene, they graft a test-tube culture of Castor Troy's face onto Sean Archer's face, thus he becomes Castor Troy again, but wrinkled and aged because the cultured skin aged inside the test-tube
  7. However, Castor Troy (The Cage) ((Sean Archer)) ((John Travolta))) discovers that his face has given him the necessary genes to biometrically hurt the FBI's projections
  8. The FBI panics and digitally possess all the bodies on Earth with Tron: Legacy-style uncanny valley Younger Cage faces, and they attack Castor Troy en masse
  9. Castor Troy destroys these infants with his 20-year-old gunkata, but behold, the FBI's final cyberbosses emerge from the Facetime portal for a final Face/Off with Castor Troy
  10. The Elite 4 assembled, Castor Troy fights the trinity of FBI cyberclones in a 4-way Face/Off:

    Castor Troy (the original)
    Castor Tron (Cage 2.0)
    Castron Tron (Punished Cage)
Tron TraVOLTRON (4th wall-breaking boss mecha piloted by Castron Tron)

the above arranged by level of uncanny valley Younger Cage likeness
  11. Just as they're about to gunkata to the death, credits roll; priming the franchise for 2 more sequels + annual merchandise

No working title yet.

Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman. I can't exactly say why, but it must be done.

Also make the sequel into True Detective S3.
