I'll be up in scotland at the end of next month, passing through these two cities. I was thinking of doing some sight seeing there, but not really sure what there is to see.

Would I be able to see most of the things in both of the cities in one day without a car?

Anyone know of some cool places to stay? Budget isnt really an issue.

In Edinburgh, look around the old town, it's glorious. There's a ton off tourist attractions there, the castle obviously but also things like the National Museum of Scotland which is free and MASSIVE. Has information about every period in Scotland's history.

Glasgow is far less touristy, but has really nice parks like Kelvingrove in the west end, which also has a really great museum. If you're going there I'd just recommend looking around the city centre and west end for a day. You can travel between the 2 areas on the subway really easily.

Go to the solid rock cafe in glasgow, its a fucking great bar.

thanks. yeah it looks like ediburgh is more interesting.

im thinking about taking the night train from euston. anyone ever taken it? flying is just such a pain in the ass. the night train leaves at 11pm and gets to edinburgh at 8am. that sounds perfect. ill be staying with friends with in walking distance of euston, so getting up super early and going out to one of the london airports sounds crappy. Anyone have anything against the night train other than price?

Strangely enough I will be in Glasgow around the same time for a wedding. Staying at 1 Devonshire place... Is this near there? Not planning to rent a car so hopefully there is some good stuff in walking distance.
