Man, I'd punch anyone who had posters like that in his room. Apple Kult-think + predictable classic celebrity choices = ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES DRINKY A DULL CROW

Holy fucking shit.

My teacher has like 8 of those.

Fuck expensive total.

Holy shit. And they're just pinned right up there on the wall. That's insane.

Apple Employee Fired For Thinking Differently
The Onion said:
CUPERTINO, CA—Brent Barlow, 27, a software analyst and beta-tester at Apple Computer headquarters in Cupertino, was fired Monday for "thinking a little too different."

...

"It's okay to think outside the box," said Avie Tevanian, Apple senior vice-president of software engineering. "In fact, we very much encourage that sort of thing here at Apple. But in Mr. Barlow's case, he went just a bit too far."

Barlow was first written up in September 1996, when he was cited for "unprofessional and inappropriate personal modifications to his workspace." In addition to taped-up pictures of Mahatma Gandhi, Albert Einstein and R. Buckminster Fuller, Barlow painted a large red question mark on the side of his monitor, scanned and displayed a non-approved desktop screen image of Jim Henson, and replaced his computer's trademarked Apple system beep with a snippet of the John Lennon song "Imagine."

What they are "worth" and what some Apple nerds are willing to pay for them are 2 totally different things IMO ;)
What some Apple nerds are willing to pay determines their worth.

In 20-40 years, these posters will be like retro and cool. Just imagine the prices nostalgic retirees or not-even-born-yet rich kids would pay for these. And I like some of the pictures. :(

btw, anyone else mildly amused seeing the rainbow apple again?

I’m all for "thinking different" but having the logo of a huge corporate entity slapped over the top of it as if to say "we're just like them and you can be too*!" ruins the effect :/

*"if you buy our overpriced products!"

Wait, how the hell does Ghandi relate to Western commercialism? Didn't he reject that or what not? And did Hitchcock edit Psycho with a Mac or something? Jesus, people who are inpsired by these dumbass comparisons are tools.

Somebody did think different, they made their software for nonpropietary hardware and cornered the market with their OS, thus shoving Apple out of market dominance. Jesus I hate the worship of Jobs.

you are actually praising gates? I mean come on.. sure jobs has tunnelvision at times and has definitely had his missteps.. but PRAISING gates who's sheer number of illegal and anti-competitive practices are too numerous to mention?

hopefully you have a better contrasting figure than that.

Pretty much. "Don't think like those others... think like WE tell you to think!"

Like it or not, Gates did what Jobs hasn't been able to. As much as he's an asshole, he's also one of the most successful people... ever. As much as Linux/Apple fanbois would like to argue about it, the bottom line is that Gates leads an incredibly powerful company and has amassed a vast amount of wealth. After all, you can't strong-arm other companies unless you have a strong arm.

I'm not arguing for Gates' ethics here but he gets respect from me for building the Microsoft juggernaut.

IMO, credit is due to Gates for making "thinking different" possible. Computing today would be not be what it is if not for Apple Computer, Inc. v. Microsoft Corp. in the 1980's. If Steve Jobs had his way, Apple would own all intellectual property rights over the GUI itself; no other alternative would exist.

well okay, lets not argue Hitler's ethics either and instead admire the influence and power he commanded in the day.

yeah... :P

Well, you see, Hitler killed Jews. Six million of them. Bill Gates makes computers. So I know it's very subtle, but there IS a difference there. ;)

you don't know what Gates does in his spare time

Did Jim Henson ever use a Mac? I somewhat doubt it...

If most of Apple's little poster-people were alive today and had a choice, how many would choose a Mac? Why would they? Even if they did, what possible connection could you draw between the choice of a computer and one's creativity/intelligence/etc.?

Rush Limbaugh uses a Mac, and I don't see Apple trumpeting that all over the place.

(Side note: Anyone else find the weird love that teachers have for Apple stuff just a bit scary? I mean, I'm a teacher, and at some schools I feel like the Apple Gestapo is patrolling the corridors.)
