Thinking About Getting An Evercade Console

Darkmakaimura

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I love old retro games and Evercade looks really good with a large selection of games. I was hoping to get Namco Museum Collection 2 (mainly for Splatterhouse 2 and 3) but it's out of print and being sold for outrageous prices.

I'm also looking at the Legacy of Kain collection.

Does anyone have the console and what do you think about it? Is it a decent buy?

Avoid, the most recent one is a faulty piece of shit. I had to return mine because the battery wouldn't hold a charge. It is a known issue and they have done nothing to address it. The company that makes it is also super shady.

EDIT: Oh you're talking about the actual console, I only bought the handheld

I've got first version and like it.
Finished many titles and recently have bought Activision Collection with River Raid and Pitfall.
Each title allow us save whenever we want, which is great.
Game boxes have cart and coloured manual.

I have the OG Evercade handheld and the console. It's a fun platform to collect for. Some great games too. I have about 3/4 of the entire catalog. Stopped collecting about a year ago. I do have that Namco museum 2 still sealed. Didn't realize some of the cartridges went up in value so much.

It is a fun little console. If you can get the first model of the VS, you can use EverSD on it.

One annoying thing about the console is that the carts get rare fast. The Neo Geo cart 2 is a bitch to get in the USA.

You can order on Amazon, but the order just sits there. That might have changed.

It looks like it is not even listed now.

I've only got a Superpocket from the same company, but yeah, wouldn't buy it again. I was planning to use it to play on the toilet, but I got bored of it really quickly (doesn't help you only get a small number of games per cartridge). Not to mention I've read many people complaining about the quality of the cartridges and how they can be dead right out of the box or die on their own after enough time has passed. I assume that manufacturing them is very costly, so they are probably cutting costs on materials. Same with the screens of the handheld models - my device has some minor light bleed, but again in some cases it's already dead when you plug it in.

It's REALLY hard to compete with Anbernic devices and their vast library of free/pirated emulated games and superior performance for less money. I admit I only bought Superpocket out of nostalgia to have some favorite classics (like Team 17 Amiga games) in a boxed version to put on a shelf.

What's also shitty is that some games are "exclusives" because of licensing reasons. So for instance you can only play Capcom games which are pre-installed on certain devices or you can't play Namco games on a stationary model. The company is also limiting production of many collections and it's a huge problem if you're late to the party. For instance it's probably impossible to get a Dizzy collection right now (at least not from the scalpers).

Yeah. The carts don't seem too reliable. That is why the EverSD is great for a backup.

You can also flash a cart using the EverSD software.

I would recommend getting an arcade1up machine and modding it. You can easily soft mod the simpsons (4 player, 2 button) or SF II (2 player, 6 button) to play anything that works with those controls.

I completely gutted mine and put in a miniPC that runs MAME and FinalBurn Neo with 1200+ games

If I may ask, can you elaborate on what you're saying here? What do you mean by saying the carts are not to reliable?

Edit - oh I see what you mean by the post above now.

As someone who is a collector I don't like the sound of that.

It seems like that carts are like SD cards and can wear out or get corrupted.
