He regained licensing-rights for the strip and that is why there is NO merchandise (t-shirts, coffe mugs, etc.) for Calvin and Hobbes, unless illegally made.
He also hated how newspaper comics got smaller over time and the pressure from having to create new scripts on a daily basis - all the more reason why I wish he would do something on the internet.
