Analysis - PS5 Pro/PSSR Appears to Provide Better Image Reconstruction than DLSS Running on a 4090 GPU

I was curious and went looking back on DF comparisons of PS5 resolution/fidelity modes with a 4090 DLAA max settings, and preliminary comparison suggests to me that PSSR is potentially a vastly superior solution. I gathered the limited samples from today's Cerny tech talk where base PS5 fidelity...

I watched my son play parts of the leaked version last year on his RX 7600 using FSR upscaled to 1440p on a big 65" TV and I could still tell that despite it being a poor image quality the visual engine itself was quite excellent. A noticeable upgrade from the first ones. Not my type of game though.

Crazy talk .. the graphics are excellent and extremely needed specifically for that beautiful mary jane face model scenes and feeling the emotions while helping gay guys get their boyfriends ... awsome.

Even with the current PC issues, you can clearly see it's miles apart from Spider-Man remastered. The RT reflections PC upgrade is even better than I expected which makes these comments literally unbelievable.

Oh yeah, I used to call him Cheap Dada because he used to gaslight so hard about this game being some kind of gold standard for graphics,.lol. He used to simp for some other Sony games too. What sad existence. Hopefully he's in some Chinese concentration camp paying for his heresy.

RT reflections quality upgrade don't change fact that game has almost PS3 level lighting quality in places and looks sterile as fuck. AC Unity looks better and it's 2014 PS4 game.
 
The game looks the way it looks. None of you contributed anything towards the graphics. So, none of us had any influence over that. The game was designed with a specific visual look and gameplay. If you liked the first, you should like the second, minus any story issues you might have. Could they have designed the game to look better than does? Sure. Could they have prioritized other features where the graphics were worse than how they released? Sure.

In short, this is no big deal. The game still looks pretty good. Consoles are fixed system and even PC has specific configurations that devs target.

The intro is the worst aspect of the game in terms of visual fidelity. I'm on record saying this, but people don't want to remember that.

That is kind of the point. Everyone acts like they have some ownership over their favorite game for their favorite box when in reality the games are essentially designed the way that they are. They certainly could have focused more on graphic fidelity but something else might have suffered instead. Maybe they could have found the perfect balance but they are also going for a specific look for certain games. Unless the game just plain looks bad, which I don't think is the case with Spidey 2, it shouldn't matter that much. Specially nowadays. Most games visually look good, even the crappy ones.

Yup, that's definitely CGI quality. Check out how the wizards upscale each and every single polygon on the waste bins in the reflection. We should of never doubted ChiefDada.

not a dramatic difference either way that's going to make me say "damn, I wish I had moved over to PC" because of it. especially given the state of bugs/stutters on seemingly every release these days. thank god I just play the game and it works

You can use better settings on RTX gpus (and AMD) with enough raw power and VRAM, you don't need 4090/5090 to do that.
