Klink gets props for the monocle, but Wilhelm's got the HAT:

Attention junior members: no force in the world is stopping you from making your own forum on your own webspace, where you can make yourself a admin/mod, give yourself your own funky and unique tag, then ban junior members from making new threads, and in the process, banning yourself from your own forum. Then the circle is complete.

You know, for some reason I thought you had more posts than that. I seem to see your name in almost every thread I go into. Sorry. :)

He does, however the admins keep altering his post count to make him look like a junior member :p

There weren't any consequences to that until now, however.

Hey that's 2 Junior Member's that were able to make new threads. I thought they were locked out and not just warned from making them?

It probably makes sense to say junior members aren't allowed to make threads, and then promptly ban all those that do.

I agree with this news, but maybe the threshold should be reduced to 50 posts and not 100. It's the ones with <25 posts that are the major offenders.

Alright, piss on the real Junior Members and I honestly couldn't care...but why the hell am I being limited when I'm not actually one? I'm not one to ask much, and I'm not one to make many threads either...but being limited like this is really annoying.
Did I mention that it can be done manually too? Enjoy posting threads.

Perhaps. But it wouldn't have anywhere near the Drama that GAF has :p

I don't think the amount of posts needed to become a normal member should be revealed.

100

You are not special, Lemurs. Quit acting as so. You were once a junior member, and just like at that point not too long you're still posting shitty variations of "OMG WHOS THE BEST GUITARIST EVEAH?????" multiple times a month.

I hope you trip and fall off the runway.

Damn the mods are really throwing down the law! I'm surpise Bishoptl hasn't joined in the fray. His banned posts use to rock. (not for the banee of course!) My favorite used to be the pic he used to post with the 'tally ho! tis the banstick for you!' or the one with denzel washington as the crooked cop lighting a cig.

Hey mods when a person joins the forum can't you send them a email that explains all this as well serve as the acceptance?

I've been sending my picture to all the new female members to see if they want to, you know, make friends with a mod.

Why was the number of posts needed to reach member status raised to 100? I've been on GA for over 4 years, but i don't post that much and i lose posts every time the board resets. It's going to take a long time for me to lose the junior member tag this time.

Along those lines, it'd be an interesting idea of getting an email when you're banned, though. I would have liked one for the three times it happened to me

Or at least (gasp, another thing that SA does right) a leper's colony type deal where you can see reason/length/name.

Not that Opa-Ages doesn't sort of already fill that void, of course.

SA is on the ball with their banning system. The only problem is that sometimes the mods just randomly ban. Or is that a problem?

I dunno, eh.

I've always been a fan of URL-has-been-posted checker and ban tracking, though. Makes everything a little easier to figure out sometimes.

I think pretty much everyone at SA is worth banning.

Whoa, wait, this isn't a neo-nazi forum?

Shit. I just shaved my head (my hair was getting too long anyway) and I already poured the gas on the crosses and everything.

Why do people always associate neo-nazis with the Klan?

....Oh wait. Yeah.

Should have mailed a mod. Can't speak for everyone else, but I'm a fan of transparency in the process, and will normally let people know how long they're banned for and why unless there's a particular reason not to.

I was lost one day in the GAF building when I tripped and fell into a secret passageway to a secret Nazi control room. Mike Works was typing a message to the Fuhrer on an enigma machine when he saw me and yelled, "Töten Sie den Ungläubigen!"

Mike Works speaks German?! Is there anything that man can't do?

No arguments from me here. I personally want to punch each and every goon who feels the need to derail a good thread to bicker about someone misspelling one word.

But I also like how their system works, although I think they sometimes they ban people for nothing (or what would considered "nothing" at another big board)

As I'm sure many have noticed by now, I try to model a lot of my admin stuff on SA. The banning of stupid catchphrases, the implementation of posting a link to the original thread if someone reposts instead of just posting OLD, a fistfull of SA smilies, the logistics on who to and who not to ban when it comes to trolling/parody, etc. I want to keep GA a completely seperate entity from SA, because both forums have unique properties that draw me in, and I'd rather have 2 large forums that offer me different aspects than 2 that offer the same thing.

That being said, there's a lot that SA does that GAF should mimic, and vice versa.

Yeah, damn those assholes who discriminate against people who drink deer fluids ;)

Yeah, we had to learn German and Japanese during the second world war. Just made things easier.

Don't take that line with me, please.. it's upsetting when your friends have had their websites brought down by SA script kiddies. That site is no good.

So everyone on SA is a script kiddy?

sonarrat said:
That's your bad logic, not mine.
<sonarrat> Everyone on SA sucks!
<Mike> Why's that?
<sonarrat> I hold that opinion because script kiddies from that forum took down my furry friend's sites!
<Mike> Everyone on SA did that?

I said that everyone on SA probably deserves to be banned. You suggested that I hated them because they hate Furries. I do, of course, hate them for that, and for the fact that this minority which hates us enough to pull stupid script-kiddie stunts gets such broad support for little reason other than that it's apparently cool. But I could hardly be dumb enough to think that the 40,000 SA members all even hate Furries, much less are actively involved in lame 'persecutions.'

In other words, that's not why I would say that everyone on SA probably deserves to be banned. At the risk of being called a backpedaler, I didn't mean that literally. I just can't stand the forum.
