Performs as well as a 3GHz Pentium 4, and mine is a whole 1GHz slower than that. Not to mention my FSB is only at 333MHz as well, while the P4's FSB runs at 800MHz.

AMD > Intel.


In terms of raw CPU performance, it doesn't lag far behind a P4 with 1MB of L2 and a Pentium M with 2MB of L2:

It's between XP 2700+ and XP 2800+ in terms of performance, but it does have more L2 cache than both of them though. Think it has 512k vs 256. So in raw performance it equals the CPU's I mentioned. And my brother got one yesterday after burning his 2500+ CPU.

It is better, but not much better. The XP series are rare, but if you can find one then buy those. XP 3000+ is clocked at 2.16GHz vs Sempron 3000+ at 2.0GHz. Otherwise they are the same, i.e. same FSB(333MHz) and cache(512K).

How are the Athlons based on the Venice Cores?

Im looking to update and will choose between A64 4000+ normal or 3800 Venice Core.

Does SSE3 really matter that much for games nowadays?
