This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

All of you guys that are going to play Uncharted make sure to get the sensitivity of the Gyro aiming down. Experiment till you get it just right. Trust me it makes a world of difference for the gunplay mechanics.

I had to have it all the way up. But it was excellent.

Is it possible to turn that stuff off completely? The whole point of Vita was bringing the console control scheme to portables. That's why we cried out for a 2nd stick for half a decade.

People always tell me mouse and keyboard and wiimote aiming is far better yet my accuracy is at least 10% lower with them than a pad. But it's nice to know you can avoid it in this Uncharted. I'm far more comfortable with normal controls.

As others said you can turn it off, but it's really intuitive and makes life much easier on the Vita.

Like any new control scheme it takes some getting used to, I can;t play shooters on consoles as I just can't get my thumbs working properly. Yet with a mouse and KB I can hold my own much easier.

Gyro Aiming in my opinion, should be an option in every game with any shooting mechanic. It made gunplay on a console fun for me where before it was a necessary evil of playing PS3 Uncharted games.

Go complain to CS

I did, twice. First time I just got a no no don't worry it'll be there by today. Second time I got a well were sorry but hopefully it'll be there by Monday, and that was it.

Amazon CS has continuously been dropping the ball lately for me. About 2 months ago I ordered a large book from them, first copy came ripped, battered and basically destroyed, mostly because it was put in the thinnest cardboard they had and no protection. Call CS and they send out a replacement, packaged exactly the same and just as destroyed. Call CS and they send out a 3rd, same exact thing. Call CS a 4th time and ask for one that's packaged right, and they tell me they can't guarantee anything, no sorry, nothing, just a well I guess we'll refund your money since you don't want to try again.

Try playing with a controller in Counterstrike against mouse+keyboard players, you will be slaughtered. :)

There's a reason I don't usually play MP games on PC. I have my preferences but I'm not stupid.

I did go through a period of playing BC2 with friends on PC and while I was still effective thanks to the game's reliance on teamwork and points rather than kill/death ratio, my accuracy and kd/r was much much lower than 360 because of how much worse I am with mouse and keyboard. A 360 pad is like a 3rd hand for me.

I personally always get terrible customer service from Amazon. I must be the minority though. I don't have the energy or the desire to get shitty with anyone or a few bucks, but I just stop doing as much business there. I get great service with Best Buy and even Gamestop in store these days. Not worth dealing with Amazon as long as that continues.

So, is the 4 gb card that comes with this good for anything? Should I just plan on buying a bigger one?

I'm in the same boat as you, but after looking at the ridiculous prices of those cards, I'll stick with the 4GB. I don't plan to buy retail Vita games digitally because I'd rather have physical collections. Maybe once in a while there will be a good Vita downloadable game to get, but I can't imagine that happening often. Save games don't seem to take up much space (I think/hope?). And, I can always pick up a card months down the road.

just my thoughts.

Its really just a thing you have to stick with if you're not used to the setup. Use a keyboard and mouse primarily for a few months and you'll be way better at aiming vs a controller.

Yeah I get that, it's all about experience and practice. I've played countless hours with mouse and keyboard for many years so of course it feels fine for me.

I found this handy price tracking site that should help you decide whether the current memory card prices are good or not.
8GB
16GB
32GB

Looks like the 32GB is still on the lowish-mid level, while the 16GB and 8GB prices are on the high level.

I cashed in on some of my PowerUp Rewards points and got a $10 off coupon. I ended up getting a 16gb refurbished memory card for $34.99 (just for those who don't know, the refurbished memory cards are basically the just memory cards that GS require the stores to send in so they can properly erase the data).

Well, fuck. I don't know when I am going to get my package now. They tried this morning, but I was asleep. Signature required. They don't ship on Sundays, and I work from 7:30AM until 8PM on Monday nights and pretty much all week. Damn UPS.

This happens to me a lot. Print out a nice simple letter to UPS/Fedex using MS word (or whatever you use) and include the tracking number, your name printed and sign it. They will take the note and leave the package.

Sign up for MyUps and have it held at a nearby facility/re-direct to a store for pick-up

That's what I did. Gave customer service a call and asked them to leave at the facility. It works for the best because I have a shit ton of grading I need to do.

The problem with having it left is my door is that I am in a gated community and I don't believe the front office signs for packages or does any of that mess.

Any chance of a rerun of this on Cyber Monday?

Doubtful. I think this was a special co-sponsored deal with Sony while the $200 bundles were the normal bundles available everywhere but only for yesterday and today. They'd have to make a new deal with Sony and get new stock by Monday which seems unlikely.

Dumb question, but why would I need a larger memory card?

Is it only a concern for people with lots of downloaded games? :X

PS Plus games if you want to get them all as opposed to one at a time and having to back em up on your PC or something.

That is about it. Also if you just want a lot of downloadable games or classic games from PSOne and stuff.

it would be for downloads yes, in general Playstation + users will likely want a bigger memory card just so they can play their "free" games.

Though I am a ps+ user and am totally going to just get by with a 4gb because I don't want to pay for a bigger memory card and it's possible although tedious to just use a 4gb lol.

also maybe you want a lot of music/ videos on your vita, that could require a bigger memory card as well.

The Vita has quite a strong showing already as far as PSN only titles. I would recommend at least a 16GB for anyone who wants to enjoy those games. If you're just going to be casual with retail titles- the 4GB will be fine.

As much as I want to get Most Wanted for Vita, I am going to try an experiment. I already have over a year of PS+ from my PS3. This bundle will net me another 3 (possibly 4 if there's a trial in the box).

I am going to do nothing but play the games provided via PS+ for the better part of the year, avoiding a backlog like I manage to do every time I get a new system.

At this point I already have like a 7 game backlog with this bundle ... no need to add to the madness.

Has Sony said what their plans are for putting new games out for the Vita's instant game library? Can we expect 1 game to get switched out per month?

It's easy to be "casual" when your interest in games is so focused. Senran Kagura is the only Vita exclusive I'm really excited for, everything else is a PS3/PC port.

Still hoping Vita development picks up, real PSP style.

You would think that in this era of the Dudebro shooter Pursuit Force would be a more established franchise.

Come on Sony.

Give Pursuit Force one more shot with a proper budget and some faith.

The EU blog hinted towards 2 games changing per month for the vita, but I am not sure if they clearly said what was going to happen. I figure we will get at least 1 game switched. if it's two it will be at best one bigger game (retail though I assume we will only get a new retail game every few months) and a psp, digital only or ps1 game.

Yeah. The gyro aiming was fantastic.
Aim with sticks to the enemy, and fine tune with gyro for the headshot.

I haven't even played Uncharted Vita and I'm jealous of this. Motion controls are just stunning when done intuitively like this. Well, and done right, not just tacked on as "the next big thing! Do MORE gimmick!"

Well, if anybody at Sony doubts price is a factor, they need to look at this thread.

I don't think much confidence should be put into a deal selling well that was $20 cheaper than what the first price drop will probably be, along with a free game and ton of other goodies. I don't think they should take from that "huh, so if we just go to $199.99, all will be well."

personally I think the 3ds was a huge factor in this. A lot of people I know were on board to buy a vita day one until the 3ds dropped in price so fast, and then they became worried that the vita would drop so fast and that they should just wait. While I think a price drop would help sales a ton, I don't mind seeing sony stick to their price, not go into panic mode, and not devalue their future releases as when the ps4 comes out people will just have to look back to the vita and realize if they want one the price most likely won't drop in the first 6 months outside of a sale like this (which happened what 9 months in)

no it shouldn't be that way... but if sony thought lets drop it to $200 and include a big name game in the bundle (god of war, GTA, GT, type 0, ect) they likely wouldn't do bad :P

This is not stealth bragging, only to paint a picture of how excited I am. I have a monster computer with a 120hz screen that I just finished building this month. I am more excited for laying on my couch playing P4G than anything else out there. And Super Stardust.

Way to go Sony and Amazon for putting out such an irresistible deal.

I would have assumed it was some crazy deal with Ubisoft since it came with the AC3 coupon for both 360 and PS3 versions.

They may have been in on it too since I'm sure they get a cut from Sony for each bundle sold. I just remember someone on here saying Sony was sponsoring BF with Amazon which is why we were getting a brand new game for free and a ton of PS+ time.

FWIW, the deal was being heavily marketed by Sony, and was plastered all over their webpage.

You and your builds! Now you have a white Vita to complement it.
