Going from maxed out PC Assassin's Creed III to ACIII Liberation is pretty rough, but then I remember that this is a portable device and become impressed again. The other demos I've tried so far are also quite graphically impressive. Is Sony taking a loss on this thing even at $250? It's such a well designed and slick device with what seems like very powerful hardware inside. I kind of feel bad for ignoring it up until now.

This is not stealth bragging, only to paint a picture of how excited I am. I have a monster computer with a 120hz screen that I just finished building this month. I am more excited for laying on my couch playing P4G than anything else out there. And Super Stardust.

Way to go Sony and Amazon for putting out such an irresistible deal.

personally I think the 3ds was a huge factor in this. A lot of people I know were on board to buy a vita day one until the 3ds dropped in price so fast, and then they became worried that the vita would drop so fast and that they should just wait. While I think a price drop would help sales a ton, I don't mind seeing sony stick to their price, not go into panic mode, and not devalue their future releases as when the ps4 comes out people will just have to look back to the vita and realize if they want one the price most likely won't drop in the first 6 months outside of a sale like this (which happened what 9 months in)



no it shouldn't be that way... but if sony thought lets drop it to $200 and include a big name game in the bundle (god of war, GTA, GT, type 0, ect) they likely wouldn't do bad

Anecdotal, but I didn't bite earlier because the UMD passport program was cancelled. Was going to buy day 1 until that news broke. When is Sony going to realize that backwards compatibility matters? And it mattered MORE this time because it meant a chance to abandon the craptastic load times of the UMD.

Maybe it's better for software sales, but it sure does piss off the brand loyalists like me.

Is it possible to turn that stuff off completely? The whole point of Vita was bringing the console control scheme to portables. That's why we cried out for a 2nd stick for half a decade.

People always tell me mouse and keyboard and wiimote aiming is far better yet my accuracy is at least 10% lower with them than a pad. But it's nice to know you can avoid it in this Uncharted. I'm far more comfortable with normal controls.

If I can put up with uncharted 1-3's somewhat crappy aiming then I can put up with anything.

I was skeptical too, but trust me it's much better with Gyro. Try it yourself first and then decide what you like. I'm replaying Uncharted for the 3rd time now and I wouldn't be able to get through it without using Gyro. Sniping is so much better with Gyro, even regular aiming. Use the right stick to get close the enemy, and then use Gyro to aim for the head.

It's a good deal if it works and is in good shape. At least it can only be 9 months old at the most. Just make sure it isn't broken and has no dead pixels before you pay anything.

I used a Vita in Best Buy the other day that had been there for quite some time and despite the physical abuse to the outside, it still performed and ran like a champ. I was surprised the sticks, buttons, and dpad all had survived so well. The Vita appears to be a pint sized tank.

a store had the 16gb on sale for $30 on black friday (B&M only so I couldn't get it) so there is a little hope for cyber monday for a sale, currently I think the 80 on amazon is the best price for the 32gb

16GB should be fine for most people. That will get you about 6 Vita games on it. Or take one Vita game off and put on a few PSP/PSN titles.

If you have the cash go with the 32GB so you don't have to rebuy one down the road.

Lumines digital price is steep but I'm confident most people (that are into action puzzle games) will get their moneys worth. It puts you into a trance very quickly that can last hours.

Sound Shapes is great too (I actually ended up enjoying the platforming aspect of it the most, music editing is great too and still have to do beat school). Really wish it had locally saving levels like LBP Vita..looking forward to the upcoming dlc for it.

im glad they came as 3 one month codes... now to decide if I am gonna add them to my sub and push it into 2014 or try to sell them for $6 each (1/3rd the price of a 3 month sub) to people who would like to have plus just to play though gravity rush/ uncharted or some ps3 games but don't care enough to continue plus.

No. Definitely not region free for digital stuff. Physical retail games are region free, but that's about it. Even the dlc for those region free games are region locked.

after the whole psn hack thing I ended up getting a free month of the EU PS+ and was able to download and play the games they had that the US didn't (including a ps1 game that wasn't even on the NA PSN) on my US account just fine on the ps3. You have to keep in mind though that dlc from other regions won't work with your game, and saves from other regions won't work with your games if you decide to get the game in your region later. I would imagine it would work the same for the vita, but I believe you have to have something like multiple memory cards to have multiple accounts on the ps vita... I am not sure on the details, I plan to just stick with a NA account so I haven't bothered to look the details up.

at the very least I know the ps+ redemption codes aren't very friendly to other regions as they require you to add a credit card to your account to activate.

I see, well I know every free code that has come out in the last month has required a credit card (the free EU ps plus codes and the ign free NA ps plus codes)

i am guessing that you used a 3 or 12 month code, those might not carry a CC requirement but the one month codes I have had do.
