I have still not received my Allstars and PS+ codes either. I opened a ticket with Amazon last night about it but they are making me jump a lot of hoops. Vita came yesterday.

Wrong. From experience I can inform you that it is always a bitch to put a screen protector on. Try the advice of people earlier in this thread: apparently if you run the shower for a few minutes before you put the screen on in the bathroom that will disperse the dust in the air.

They're always a bitch but trying to get smudges and such off so it's as clean as when you first take it out of the box is hard and I think I've gotten the knack for screen protectors now. You just have to take your time. There will always be a bubble or two, as long as it's not in the playing area it's fine.

Ya, it's snowing pretty good by me so I didn't want to drive like 40 mins for screen protectors. I'll leave the order for another day or so and then probably go get it. Why are the hori protectors better? Any reason? I think it'll be a bitch to use those that cover by the sticks too than just a regular screen protector like the one sony makes.

Hori Protectors are a lot easier to put on. They try to make the process fairly fool-proof.

Just use a microfiber cloth. I've had mine since launch and it still doesn't have a scratch. I don't use a protector because the screen is on the same level as the rest of the front (not indented) so it would look sort of ugly.

What do they do that's different? Like I said it's the edges and how it sort of circles around the sticks which makes it look like an absolute mess to put on.

Dunno, I'm pretty anal about my electronics and I don't think it would bother me except for the fact it's a touchscreen so I have to touch it. If it didn't have touch like the PSP then I wouldn't care.
 
So my brand new Vita has a glorious dead pixel! And I've already sold Ass Creed, and redeemed All-Stars. Not really sure what to do here. Will Sony replace? Wait til if/when Amazon gets any new stock?

I haven't actually put the game in the post yet, so I can cancel that, but I don't really want to because if I ever do get a replacement the value will have plummeted.

edit: Just off the phone with Sony. Going to send me a coffin. Not bad. I was afraid they were going to make me meet a threshold dead pixel requirement first. And obviously Amazon has no copies to swap out one for me.

Not sure what the policy is on dead pixels. However, assuming Amazon will swap it out then Amazon should just send you a new console when they get stock. Just send back everything that comes in the new box apart from the Vita which you swap for your own.

I had a row of pixels go bright white after about 3 weeks and nothing I could do would stop it. I called Amazon, they got a replacement to me in 24 hours and then I had up to 30 days to send the busted one back. Was great as I didn't lose any game time.
 
What would you guys say is the better deal: Wifi Vita + Little Big Planet for 147€ or 3G Vita + Little Big Planet + 4GB memory card for 199€? I ordered both from Amazon and don't know which one to cancel.
 
I caved and opened it. It's charging now and I'll play it for a day or two without a protector for now and then hopefully clean it. :(

It looks really gorgeous, the detail on it is nice and looks really well made.

Yeah, I cancelled the 3G one, 4GB is tiny considering I mainly want a Vita for PS1 games. But man, those memory card prices are insane. I'm actually having second thoughts now, 80 bucks for 32GB is such a rip-off :/.

Can I redownload games I bought on PS3 PSN on the Vita? I have a bunch of PS1 classics on my PS3, which I never played, so that would at least give me something to play on that crazy expensive memory card..

My brother says that the Amazon page said 100% reserved when he clicked on it right at 17:30 :/
 
I found an easy way to clear off 3.1 gig - I deleted Uncharted. Blech. Weak story, weak characters, and an over-reliance on using every single gimmick built into the system. If I need an Uncharted fix, I'll just pop UC2 into the PS3. I'm finding that what I enjoy the most on the Vita so far are actual handheld games - Lumines, Zen Pinball 2, Stardust, and Rayman, which I think is a much better handheld game than it was console game.
 
Just opened up my vita and set it up. Wow is this one premium device that screen damn. The build quality is just off the charts awesome. The set up was very simple. My only complaint is hooking up to PS3 was not wireless and long copy times. I played a few minutes of uncharted and china town wars. I fit 3 games on the 4gig card and have like 30 meg to spare lol after the uncharted update. I will have to get used to the sticks but damn is uncharted good looking. I kind of like the touch to platform to be honest no missed or wrong direction jumps which drove me nuts on the PS3. I will have to tweak the setting some but wow.

God is this going to be a long wait till Xmas to open it. I might be able to sneak in some game time till the wife wraps it up.

I skipped the screen protector I love the feel of the screen. I just need to get a case, microfiber cloths and grips. I will check out target as someone suggested here.

If anyone wants to add me it is dirtgnap I have a almost empty friends list lol.

If you are missing codes check your junk folder that is where mine were.

It was in the old MM flyer, apparently that's not available any more. It was a WiFi PSV with PSABR, no memory card though. Amazon's deal is better, PSABR is only ~30 EUR if you want that as well.

Don't worry about it. I've had mine since launch, no screen protector, and not a single scratch. As long as you're careful, you'll be fine.
 
Mine came today! Everything looks cool, though sadly I was not able to connect to any of the wireless networks at my workplace. What's the deal with 2011/2012 devices not supporting all the typical wireless protocols? Looks like the Vita only supports two security types, the most advanced of which is WPA2. It's the same thing with the 3DS.
 
I went to the store to get a screen protector to put on my new toy. I put it on the first time, and it sat perfectly flat with no bubbles or dust, then i noticed that i had put it on at a slight angle and the top left corner was bare, there was no plastic over it. i started playing uncharted, and seeing that bare corner was bothering me to the point where i had to stop what i was doing and go sit down at my desk again to try and reapply the protector. (it was like a dead pixel, i couldnt unsee it)

knowing that this never works out for me, i went in with surgeon like precision to remove the cover. i placed it back down again and this time nailed it. all the corners are covered, there is no dust under the protector and there are no bubbles.

you have no idea how much this made my night.
 
I wish I can just get this instead of all the additional stuff that comes in with this package.

Looks like I might be getting my vita a lot sooner than December 10. Checked the tracker and its already in Windsor, Ontario, 4 hours away from my place. Hopefully I can get it by tomorrow afternoon.
 
Man, I don't remember it being this light lol

White looks really awesome though, luckily Sony thought ahead and made the whole thing glossy, so it does not become yellow over time.

Use the number it has at the USPS website. It is possible it was dropped off for delivery already. Also possible it wasn't, but the final delivery for smartpost is made by your local post office, and the tracking stops updating through Amazon.
