This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

I made the mistake of getting the Sony screen ptotectors, and messed them both up. Are screen protectors absolutely necessary, or can I get by without one?

you can get by without, but if you like to be extra safe like me grab the hori protectors...it comes with front and back and extremely easy to apply

Does this make media streaming or remote play work? I guess I want it for a lot of things besides games. I'm not down on the hardware. Its impressive. Just trying to find where Vita fits in my life along with all my other devices.

Play FFX HD?

Persona 4?

Not interested in JRPGs.

I found an easy way to clear off 3.1 gig - I deleted Uncharted. Blech. Weak story, weak characters, and an over-reliance on using every single gimmick built into the system. If I need an Uncharted fix, I'll just pop UC2 into the PS3. I'm finding that what I enjoy the most on the Vita so far are actual handheld games - Lumines, Zen Pinball 2, Stardust, and Rayman, which I think is a much better handheld game than it was console game.

No, Uncharted is awesome so far.

So uh, any way to start things up or return from suspend without using the touch screen? I found an option for button control to move among the bubbles but would like a non fingerprint inducing method of starting things up.

Is there anyone else aside from me that hasn't received the codes?

I'm starting to think my sister actually deleted them. lol

I use her prime account (and paid the $40 student rate) so it gets sent to her school email.

It obviously wasn't for you, so why did you get it? I really don't get people that feel they have to force themselves to try and like something. It does games, thats the driving point. The apps is a bonus not an ipad killer, its the games. If you aren't interested in the games, especially RPG's which was a big driving factor for PSP then why bother?

Well, the Vita's dedicated gaming hardware. Odd that you'd buy gaming hardware expecting iPad-like functionality out of it.

I try everyone once. As my mother always said... how do you not know you don't like it until you try it? I loved my PSP and didn't own a single RPG. I'm still messing around with it but it just hasn't wow'd me so far. I don't want an iPad killer, I want a game machine that does extra stuff a high end portable should.

The lack of media streaming is a huge downer I have to admit. Next to games this is a very important feature. Second to that is remote play. I want to play Journey on my Vita from my PS3. I guess people talked up the machine being able to do more than it really can. The machine can't download in the background while playing games either. I have 30 days to mess around with it so who knows.

Btw, I only ended up paying $155 for the bundle so it was worth trying out.

Why doesn't she just add you as a family member?

So can I just go with a 16GB card and be fine?

$80 for a 32GB card is just disrespectful, IMO. I can afford the 32GB easily, but it's the principle of the matter. 32GB microSD cards are only $20, you know? I just can't do it and not feel like I've been robbed.

Ha.

Sadly I caved and kept mine. DERP! I'm so fucking stupid.

Senran Kagura hits in three months. I can work on commissions to pay this off in the meantime.

God damn I'm stupid. :|

I'll keep mine for 30 days and return it or sell it used if I don't end up keeping it. I got it so cheap I actually will make a profit on it if I sell it. Still on the fence though, I don't give up easily.

Sadly I don't think it's really the Vita's fault I'm not overly hyped for the library. My interest in gaming has been in a nose dive since this generation kicked off. Fewer and fewer games I want to play coming out.

So it's pretty much a given that no matter what console I buy, there will only be like 3-5 games that really get my interest.

I hope to hell Vita picks up steam though. The PSP was an oasis of Japanese gaming goodness during the reign of the PS3 desert.

Is God Eater 2 getting the full treatment, or is it just a PSP up-port? Last I looked I could have sworn God Eater 2 was just a PSP up-port.

Who was talking up this machine as doing so much more than play games?
Downloads will continue in the background if the game doesn't disable the network features.

If I download the playstation plus games (uncharted, etc...), do I lose them if I let my playstation plus membership lapse? Does it require some sort of internet verification to play?

My guess is when you download it, there is an encrypted date stamp when you download the game. That date stamp ends when your subscription ends as it currently is. When you renew, you get a new date stamp. That's how I would do it, at least.

Does PS3 or anything download in the background while playing? I'm pretty sure they stop too incase the game needs an internet connection so it doesn't make it choppy.

You got it.
You can even check the expiration date looking at the Information option in the "bubble" icon.

You can as long as you're not playing online. (Like multiplayer games I mean)

It's perfectly okay to conclude that it's not for you. It's what most have concluded without even having tried the system; at least you gave it a shot.

Personally, the Vita will never leave my home. There is literally no situation where I will feel compelled to take it with me. I have a legit gaming PC and a PS3 at home, and yet I can rationalize this purchase because there will be times I'll want to play something portable just for something different without necessarily forgoing complexity. Having said that, I recognize that I'm in the minority and that most people have too many options nowadays to have room for a dedicated "portable" gaming device, even if the hardware is capable.

This vita is sexy, still haven't even tried a vita game on it. Psone and PSP games look great. Just a slick machine, really hope it gets more support.

It's not the same for vita? I forget if it's my 360 or my PS3 but I remember it saying download paused when a game start but I guess it resumes on it's own later if you play single player only.

It is the same. Unless you're playing one of those games that disables network connections.

No, there is a bug that allows some games to sign you off the network disabling all features. Uncharted had this bug but Sony Bend patched in a fix. AssCreed Lib has the bug as well. On PS3 and 360 you stay stop the downloads if you play multiplayer but you are still logged into the network. Single player games keep your downloads going. This is a flaw in the current OS of the Vita that allows games to do this. It isn't just downloads that stop, you are straight disconnected.

Exactly. It is a cool piece of hardware, I'm just overloaded with devices and seeing where it fits. We'll see. Like I said I don't give up easily. It took about a month for me to find a place for my iPad.

I know you like being picky, so I'll be picky here, but you said downloads don't work while playing games. Not just the ones that obviously disable the network.

It's not a bug either, I'm not sure where you got that.
It's a design decision to take battery life into consideration. One I greatly disagree with as I'd rather have the option to control it myself and was happy Bend changed that as it allowed me to party chat while grinding for trophies.

I was downloading Shin Mora demo and loaded AssCreed and the demo stopped downloading while I was playing. It is the only game I have right now.

It has nothing to do with battery life because it still does it when I have the Vita plugged into the wall outlet. It should have been against TRCs to sign you out. The best thing would to ask the user if they wanted to log out or not.

The game just doesn't care if you're plugged in or not, it will disable the network.
It's dumb.

I got chance to play my Vita even more and still love it. Sleep mode is the greatest thing ever. The wife wants me to do something or I get a phone call no problem put it to sleep then resume almost instantly. Liking mutant blob game more than I thought I would silly fun platformer. On the fence about GTA Chinatown wars. I am liking uncharted a lot so far still tweaking the sensitivity. I bought a PSP launch day and it just collected a lot of dust because of the analog nubs. The sticks are so much better just wish they had more throw to them. Now to decide what other games to buy for it.

First business in the morning after the gym is to get that microfiber cloth screen getting dirty.
