This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

Persona 4 Golden should hold me off until the holidays, then I'll prolly just get a 16GB card. No need for 32GB, really. Not a fan of jumping through games on a single session. Will prolly keep 2 digital vita games, one PSP game and the rest for music and stuff

Since when did this thread become the "Let's bitch about the Vita" thread?

Senran Kagura release isn't that far off. Three months. :/

I don't play JRPGs. I don't play console FPS games. I don't play fighting games on portables. I'm not a fan of Sony's PS3 brands that have been ported to Vita.

Gravity Rush is the only thing that's vaguely interesting, but it's not something I must own immediately.

It's nice, fancy hardware. I'm just annoyed that something which has worked in the past has been disabled through software updates and DRM nonsense.

Back to 1999! Damn you Sega!!!

Back to waiting for Senran Kagura. At least Vita is region free.

:lol Your own link says it doesn't work in NA so no, it never has. And if you didn't sell your 3 months of PSN+ then you would be playing gravity rush right now.... You seem to be trying to sabotage your own purchase.

I think that is something we can all agree on. I tried gaming on my phone and tablet just never clicked with me. Except a few games that were perfect for touch like plants vs zombies. Anything else it was just a disaster IMO and I gave up on it.

It is to bad you don't enjoy your Vita might be off better returning it than to regret keeping it like I did with the orginal PSP. I loved everything about the PSP except the horrible horrible analog nub.

I just need to sit tight.

Senran Kagura is on the horizon. Remember, "Tits are life, ass is hometown!"

Stupidly that's a franchise I've been hyped to play (the Ikkitousen beat'em ups were solid) ever since it debuted on the region locked jerkfaces 3DS, and now the Vita will allow me to get my hands on it.

Then PSO2.

I need to play God Eater on PSP before I worry about God Eater 2.

Stuff is coming out of Japan. It's just going to take a while to get to me.

I know right?

I sold off PSN+ because I'd rather buy Gravity Rush than lease it. That's just me.

It's worth it to own the games, as PSPo2 demonstrates. Meaning it got yanked off of PSN entirely, so if you don't own the UMD then you're SOL.

Sega hates money so much. :(

If PSO2 ever comes out in NA it might cause me to get divorsed LOL. I spend hundreds of hours on it for the game cube. So much mindless loot hunting fun.

Must be your first visit to a VITA thread then, they all get put there....

Mine finally came in! woot

Congrats I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Amazing piece of hardware just a shame sony made a few mistakes with it. It deserves much better. No matter what I get my money out of it just catching up on PSP games and a few Vita games.

You can fit a lot more than that on a 16 gig.

Aaaaand the 16 gig card I bought is now full.

Well, crap. Well, really the upgrade cost to 32 gig for me is now only $26 (from the $60 cost of the 16GB), considering Amazon has it for $86 now. It was $81 a few days ago, it's unfortunately gone up instead of down.

I may just bite the bullet and buy the 32 gigger sooner rather than later. I loathe to consider the backup/restore time it'll take for 16 GBs. A few hours?

Also, I need more PSN friends with Vitas. jvm is on my list, and one or two others I can't recall. So add me if you want a new Vita friend - "indigentia".

I was back and forth with the 16gb or 32gb thing and my justification was they're already both expensive so might as well get twice the storage for $25 more. Also "AZ Grifter" is me, feel free to add folks!

Started Gravity Rush last night and played it on the bus today, really, really liking it. Whole game has a sort of 'homey' feel to it between the characters, town, and the music. Looking forward to the bus ride home.

The music man, the music.

I finally got my bundle from Amazon yesterday, and after about 2 hours of play, I've got to say that I'm really impressed. I've always been a fan of the XMB, but the Vita OS is pretty slick. Also, with a baby at home, save states are already useful. As far as cases go, I've purchased 2 different ones, but I'm not digging either of them. Where can I find the PSP style sleeve that came in that first edition bundle? That's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere.

The Vita OS runs laps around the XMB in my opinion. I really like it.

Oof just watched some AssCreed "game play".

Man, whatever happened to dropping players in an area and leaving them to intuit what needs be done?

It's crazy that I watch these videos online and see "game play" and it's mostly talking, pointless cinematics, and 14 minutes of stuff that isn't play a game, and six minutes of playing a game.

Senran Kagura, take me away!

In the meantime Vita is charging. Will load PSPo2 on it tomorrow and copy over my save game from the Go.

I have played all AssCreeds but Liberation isn't clicking at all. Very boring so far.

I'm impressed with the device. It's really solid, but I'm not impressed with the gaming experience on it. The only games that I've enjoyed were Lumines and Zen Pinball, two games I can play elsewhere. I really dislike how gimmicky and plain Uncharted feels. I despise Liberation. So boring and the framerate is awful. Contemplating also returning it and just sticking my Wii U closer to where I typically play handhelds and playing on the gamepad. Like Jadedgamer, I don't see how it fits in my life since I have an iPad Mini. I'm now accustomed to pausing a game and browsing, checking email, tweeting, texting, some of which the Vita can do but not nearly as well.

This is me, love the machine but the experience is lacking.

One honest question to all the people comparing vita experience to ipad experience. I mean, it's obvious vita has a differentiated set of features perfectly documented before you bought it. You know, a software library, buttons, portability, a few apps and a great screen. What were you expecting really? An ipad? There are plenty of demos in the store. You should check them.

I expected it to at least have the same basic OS features as the PS3.

Honestly I don't get it, I don't see people comparing the 3DS to an ipad. The Vita is first and foremost made for playing games, if you had no interest in any of the games then why did they buy it?

So 3DS = Vita? I use my PS3 for more than games, expect the same from Vita.

This is a thread for new buyers seeing what the system can and cannot do. It is not a bitching thread but a discussion. Some people expect others to gloss over flaws but I like to discuss them. Nothing is perfect, that is why they put erasers on pencils.

Oh wait, why did nobody remind me Shinobido 2 was out here?! :O

This is a game I need to play!

No one reminded you because you don't seem to like anything :-P

But seriously, I just started playing shinobido as my first vita game and Im loving the shit out of it. The graphics don't really emphasize the power of the system, but the colors are amazingly vibrant and really make you appreciate the screen. I think there is a demo you can try before you buy it

Well it's not a franchise, so I'm playing that card. :P

I've wanted to play this series since they released the first one.

Acquire (the Tenchu guys) doing a more bonkers version of Tenchu? Yes!

I've got Persona 4, VLR, and Gravity Rush sitting on my desk, unopened. The temptation to just blow off law finals is immense.

I wonder when DJ Max Technika Tune is actually going to come out in the US...

Ah yeah, there's the Tenchu-like game.
It's a lot crazier though, haha.

There's a demo on the store as well.

Next week for DJ Max no?

You can pause your games on vita and browse on your ipad. Lumines Vita is the best Lumines. You cant play it elsewhere. Also i'm a huge pinball fan. Android version of zen came earlier than vita. I played 3 games and skipped it. On vita i have logged in 50 hours. If touch only games is good enough, there's not much the vita can do to please you.

I just bought got mine today, but I'm feeling a bit sad since it seems I can't redeem any of the codes since I don't have an american creditcard. Is there any way around this?

That's the important part.

I'm an avid Android gamer, but there is nothing on Android that compares to even the few hours I've gotten out of the Vita. That's not to say that touch gaming on iOS or Android doesn't have a place, it's just clearly inferior to actual gaming in almost every case.

My bundle showed up today, returned my other bundle to Target. Fast restore to the 32GB card. Time to get in some more P3P and get that finished so I can move to Persona 4

My bundle shipped two days ago via FedEx Smartpost with a delivery date of today. Mailman just came by with nothing for me.

Why am I paying for Prime again?

let amazon know. i had issues with my Vita and another shipment of black friday stuff too. They gave me an extra month of Prime for free and a $15 credit for my troubles

Looks like I am getting my package today!

Anyone still interested in a code for PS All Stars Battle Royale and 3 months of PSN+? $25 for ASBR and $10 for 3 months of PSN+. PM me if interested. Paypal only.

Has said "Out for Delivery" on Amazon since 8AM...saw the mailman but still no package at 3:30 PM. Man I really wanted to play it today.

You can see if someone is willing to buy a US gift card from a grocery store and then probably Paypal them the money. The issue is finding someone to do it for you. Not that it would be guaranteed.

Here's the thing: FedEx Smartpost is not real FedEx. FedEx basically takes the package then hands it off to the USPS near your home. The USPS then finishes the delivery.

They will, however, sometimes get the package to the USPS within two days and mark it as "delivered." They did that to me this week with Black Friday purchases. They marked the package as delivered on Saturday, then it showed up at my home on Tuesday.

Fedex smartpost is the worst. My vita has been sitting in denver for 3 days now.

It's in the USPS's hands now. If the tracker hasn't been updated to "delivered" yet, it won't be until the USPS finishes the job.

Both packages (Vita, and GT5XL) are "Out for Delivery" according to the USPS tracker. My regular postman came today, but the only package he said he had was GT5XL. So, my Vita will either come later today on another truck (It's happened before), or it was put on the wrong truck and won't be here until tomorrow (That's happened before too).

EDIT: Man, this GT5 install->update->Real Install process is taking a long time. Yep USPS, would've been more than enough time to set up my Vita and even play a bit of AC3L. @_@

Don't know if Zaraki is still reading this thread but I got

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007BK7J2Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20

In the mail today and put it on. It's a little cheap feeling initially but it fits on there pretty snug with a bit of work. It raises the surface just enough to practice everything but not as much to get in the way of the touchscreen or buttons. It unfortunately doesn't work with that shitty official case I got so I need to get a different pouch, lol.

You still need screen protectors though, of course.

I'm here! :D Cool, I'm assuming it doesn't conflict with hori screen protectors right? I don't think it would but I know some of those grip things for the vita it showed it making the screen protector come up but I think goes over the more and causes a problem that way. My protectors finally shipped today and should arrive friday, still deciding what to do for a case.

Hori screen protectors are the film right? Just apply the film on the front and back then put the plastic case on it. There's a blue version as well but from a different copy so I dno't know if it's great or not.

Ya, I can't find the pictures anymore so maybe I was delirious or something when I saw them. But ya, it wasn't a case like that it was one of the grips that make it feel more like a controller and it put pressure on the film at the top and made it bubble up and ruin the screen protector. I'm assuming this wouldn't do that but just wanted to check. I can't find the image anymore anyhow though so I guess it's moot anyhow. That sucks it won't fit in the other sony case though, is it too thick I guess?

It's because the case is designed in a stupid manner. It's held in the case with hooks that snap into place in the strap holes below the two PS button and the start/select ones. The plasticcase prevents that from snapping into place.

Additionally, one side of the case has a foam section that is raised so when you close it, it cushions the vita screen. The case adds a bit of thickness so it doesn't close properly.

It's basically a shit case, lol. I'll probably get a more traditional pouch later.

Anyone use a stylus on the Vita to help avoid getting fingerprints on the screen? I have one that I use sometimes on my iPhone and Kindle Fire and it works well on them.

Sounds like it, disappointing a sony case is that terrible. :/

This, along with the Bond 50 blu-ray set for $99.99, really made my Black Friday. I really wanted a Vita for myself and the Bond set for my dad, and both deals were too good to pass up!

I am also really happy to have a white one, and I can't wait to play Gravity Rush. I just need to buy a bigger memory card...

I've played every lumines game. Besides the awful iPhone game, the Vita version is my least favorite. Not enough modes, a lot of changes that didn't need to be made. Some of which essentially break the game. It's by no means a terrible game, but when I want pure Lumines, I'll play the PS3 or 360 versions. Each with about 100+ skins.

Woo! My Vita arrived today, even though the original estimated date of arrival was Dec. 10th since I am in Canada. I can't wait to play Persona 4 Golden.

Mine is at the local post office so I assume it will be delivered tomorrow.

HYPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Now to decide whether to sell my black vita or give it to someone for xmas/birthday.
