I know it's a major part of the mythos, but I kinda wished that they'd left Cap in WWII for the sequel. The tone and story was just right for the piece, I have no idea how they'll do that in modern times.

Explore the fish out of water aspect of Cap's character, and introduce the Winter Soldier.

Anyone else notice Chris Evan's career hasn't exactly taken off since doing Captain America? Usually somebody wants to cast them to take advantage of their visibility but that hasn't happened with Chris.

Thor sucked I hope they get a better screenwriter next time. Kill off Portman's character and get someone who has chemistry with the guy as well. I felt absolutely nothing for this movie because the relationships felt completely dead. Anthony Hopkins did alright with what he was given but everything was so rushed and underdeveloped.

First half of Captain America was cool and I liked a lot but the 2nd half was like a completely different movie. The sequel needs to be more character driven and less pulp motorcycle Planet Terror explosion stuff.

Their relationship was so poorly developed it was laughable. Peggy and Steve in Capt America did a better job but it too suffered from not enough development. They have all this stuff going on and then try to build a genuine romantic relationship and it doesn't resonate. Hopefully they have more time to devote to characters instead of exposition and backstory.

The Great Lake Avengers will get knee deep into a crappy sequel before the JL will get one good movie.
That's fine. DC is hitting it out of the park with their animated movies.

He hasn't been too available. He has one movie coming out and the Avengers plus a steady stream of sequels.

I liked the movie quite a bit. I actually enjooyed the romance angle except for Thor falling for Portman toward the end. In the beginning, it was great because it echoed life. Girl fall for hot guy solely for him being hot & Thor knows he's hot too. They should just add Sif to the mix if romance is going to play a role (Which it will).

Primary problem with Thor is the initial actions scenes are better than the final ones. The director they picked do not impress me as much as if Branaugh had stayed on.

Do we know anything about the plot? The rumours I was hearing about Executioner and Enchantress don't sound anywhere near as exciting as just adapting Simonson's Beta Ray Bill stuff.

Surtur or bust for me.

Thor was already considered unworthy in the first one so it would be treading similar ground. I actually want Fafnir to make an appearance if they are making a trilogy. Otherwise Ragnarok woold be awesome.

It's only been out a few months and until last month he was filming The Avengers.

I really disagree, I thought Steve/Peggy was probably the best romantic relationship yet in a superhero movie (Stark/Pepper's non-romantic dynamic being the best one imo).

Totally different tone, though. What made Cap work for me was the movie-serial nature of it.
Yeah I liked how the different Marvel films were each exploring distinct genres pretty competently. Iron Man was the contemporary popcorn action flick. Captain America was a period piece and a tribute to 80s films. Thor was fantasy. The different flavors really worked. I'm hoping that they come up with something equally distinct and interesting for the next Captain America.

I leave Hulk out because it was easily the weakest film for me.

Captain America a period piece? It took place in the 40s but I don't think it really dealt with anything unique to the time. Even the war was just a backdrop to the real action. X-Men was more of a "period piece" than Captain America was for sure.
