I love Arthurian legend related conent, and this game looks fantastic. This along with Crimson Desert are two of my most anticipated games.

Looks cool, might be bad, guaranteed to crush the numbers of most AAA games just like the mediocre game fallen feathers did. It's a game about gameplay with cool designs and is probably goona cost 50$, or at the very most 60$. 100k CCU on steam guaranteed, mark my words.

Looks cool, though I wish everyone would just shut up during the fight.
The framerate looks a bit choppy at times, but I guess it's a work on progress.

Also I don't think this is a Souls-like. Between no stamina bar and things like air juggles this looks more like DMC style action game than a souls like. Sort of like Lost Soul Aside but with better presentation.

Reminded me a lot of a boss fight mihoyo did a couple months in one of their games, with all the mirror world stuff, though that one is still more unique with the split screen stuff that happens during it.

This whole fight feels a bit too scripted – the MC barely takes any damage, or the guy playing is just insanely good. :D It looks awesome and super flashy, but honestly, for me, there's a bit too much going on at once.

The gameplay they show on PS5 pro some months ago was much much smoother. I wonder what happened with the optimization now even a top PC can't move more than 20fps

Looks fricken amazing! Great character design, setting, and abilities.

This game could be a better version of Stellar Blade and that game was already great. Hope this one becomes a big success.

2026 is shaping to be the best in a long long time even without counting GTAVI and RE9.

There's literally nothing similar to Souls and yet we have the same nonsensical comparisons whenever an action game is announced. This is more Devil May Cry than anything, but with an invocation-based combat.

It looks great. The only minus is the atrocious trend of talking during combat. That's wrong and devs should realize it's detrimental.

I can't wait and I've been calling this Shadowheart's game since the reveal. Can't fucking wait mate.

When you have Jennifer English it's okay.

I bet you would hate to hear Kakarot train.

That's not like DMC. That's another Soulslike with aerial combat.
Everything I've seen, including the demo that was released, the pulled back camera, the combos, magic, etc. looks closest to Final Fantasy 16, which is an action game that had the combat director of Devil May Cry work on it.

What specific parts of this game's combat reflects a soulslike?

I see the same similarities as you. But on a fundamental level I see a Soulslike there. Yes they spiced it up a bit. It's got aerial combos, it's very flashy and kinda looks like DMC/FFXV/FFXVI at a glance. That just isn't enough for me to classify it as a DMClike.

I'm only talking about this one boss fight video btw. I haven't see any other gameplay.

FWIW the YouTube comments are debating the same thing so there are clearly two sides to this argument.

In the beginning cutscene the mouth moves a lot but the face has no emotion, which stood out like a sore thumb. It looked like one of those old edits where they superimpose talking mouth on a painting.

Then the rest of the footage was all style and no substance.

It's not for me, I'm afraid. I'm not impressed by a scene so frantically chaotic that I'd need to follow by watching a Michael Bay Transformers movie as a palate cleanser.

Here's footage of the demo they released, including the Jeanne/Vergil-esque boss fight:

Most impressions, including this video I linked, have called it a hack-and-slash with 'summon' systems and cinematics similar to FF16. She doesn't even have 'stamina drain' when running or performing slashes, the only thing that uses up that secondary bar is when she uses a summon.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to figure out what soulslike players are seeing in this that suddenly puts the game in an entirely different subgenre of action. The evidence is stacked against it being a soulslike, so if it's just one thing like an estus flask or moveable camera or something, that's simply not enough.

I swear some people start bitching about "souls like" as soon as game has a lock on mechanic. Even though lock on has been a thing for way longer than Souls games have been around.

Tides of Annihilation and Phantom Blade are going to be the biggest selling games of 2026, except for GTA 6. Chinese studios beginning to cook

I hope TID has more depth than BMW

Ok that gameplay video convinced me. I agree with you.

Don't know what some people are smoking, this looks lit as fuck, major FFXVI vibes, Souls is the last thing that comes to mind and I say that as an OG Souls fan. Get the framerate to a smooth 60 (it better be on my Pro) and we're in business, will remain cautiously optimistic as I was with Wukong which ultimately ended up exceeding my expectations and finished in my top 3 of 2024 👌

Man, this looks fucking amazing, like straight up dream-game material. That fight reminded me of some of the best parts of FFXVI. This is exactly the kind of scale I thought God of War Ragnarok was gonna have before it came out. I really hope Santa Monica is paying attention to stuff like this that's coming up.

And the female characters? Learn from this, Western devs, relearn how to make women in games.

It feels odd listening to "Maelle" in a similar role but older character. Even though it's closer to her real age, her voice sounds too young. Lune's VA would have been a better fit, IMO.

Anyway, I hate when characters talk in battles. It's immersion breaking, unless it's a party RPG like Final Fantasy or E33.

Then I have to ask you. What is a woman Soulslike?
Press up to healing flask while you dodge attack patterns you learned through repetition while epic choir music blasts

Have you seen this cool character action game btw. Reminds me of Ninja Gaiden!
