Tides of Annihilation: Extended Gameplay Walkthrough

Everything minus the writing and voice-acting are exquisite.

But good lord I’m shaking from PTSD hearing the sidekick VA. It’s Lily from Stellar Blade all over again.

lol that's overreacting.
You should've played Stellar blade in Korean

That’s unfortunate.
I’m bilingual with Russian and each time I’ve played games with the original voice cast (or those that speak in the same native language as the development team), it’s vastly superior to the English version. Granted that might be unique to Russian-English adaptations.

Eve I eventually learned to stomach and it fell into place as the game progressed. But Lily was so painfully British that my American sympathies immediately kicked in and I threw out all the tea packets in my kitchen drawer.

In SB at least companions are silent most of the time. I hope it's the same here, especially if she doesn't say anything relevant while exploring.

Chinese devs are so good at animations, effects, poses and stances, character designs, that they literally make all western games look dated now. They’ve really pulled ahead. There is a coolness of it all that just isn’t there in the west.

I bet many of us would assume it was made by some Japanese developer had no one mention about the Chinese studio.

Yeah definitely asian but China is really good at this modern stylized and appealing design. And nobody would look at this and guess a western studio that’s for sure.

World design and combat look extremely cool/stylish.

As great as the world looks, the dialogue is very vapid, the lines in this trailer are painfully cliche. Also contradictory. Likes there's a part where they're like "ahhh! the scarlet waters! run! run!" and then a minute later a character says "remember, knights don't fear the sarlet (sic) waters." The spelling of "scarlet" can be easily fixed later but the anti-logical dialogue fail of running in terror from whatever scarlet waters are, then a little later saying they're nothing to fear, I just get the feeling the story may be goofy nonsense. As much as I want to believe it would be super cool with its post-apocalyptical fem-swapped knights of the round, it might end having a "Madame Web" level story based on this trailer.
I think it's pretty clear that with the term "knight" she is referring to that evocation that they immediately after conjure to solve their traversal problem. They clearly don't define themselves as "knights" because it seems evident that the contact with scarlet water will cause the sudden "death" of the protagonists

I wouldn't say it's "clear" at all. These women appear to be acting as knights not maidens, eg adventuring, participating in combat. But your interpretation may be correct when we see more information. If the story does end up making a lot of sense it's still being acted out poorly with with this hammy line reads

Pure slop.

The Chinese have found a way into the Western game industry catering to the gooners and cringe ass men with anime pillow covers.

The Western devs hesitation to not create artificially pleasing humans or their agenda of creating inclusive, hyper real persons has created a new industry - hot, voluptuous females by foreigners without any innovative gameplay.

Such a shame because for someone who yearns for gameplay driven systems I’m left with either a goon filled video game with high cinematic budget and the cliched hack and slash combat or the same but hyper real humans with similar gameplay. Both also have a side character with an irritating VA, constantly giving me hints and explanations of GenAI world building and bland, boring systems that were first seen two decades ago.

Video games shouldn’t talk back to me, the gameplay should.

I rest my case.

Mention of gooners = incoming bullshit post .

Yeah, always happens. This is no exception.

This looks amazing! Really hyped for this game, looks to be another Chinese hit. So happy with this new wave of single player Asian devs.
