Tips for career change

Hey GAF, I was looking into changing my field from customer service/sales representative that I have been working in since I turned 16(30 now). Was looking into transitioning either into SQL or SEO work since the market seems to be in high demand for these positions. Plus there is an added layer of flexibility of remote work/hours. Any advice for me? I don't know where to look to learn either of these skills but I want to get started as soon as possible to increase my likelihood to get hired.

Does your current job offer any advanced classes or college stuff? I used my last job to get some certs that I used to get where I am. Not that I am somewhere incredible but better than where I was. Try udemy or look at that? Easy to get courses for $10 if you look at sales.

was so afraid when deiced to leave my teaching career and become essay writer! This was one of the toughest decision through my entire life. But to be honest my life is much more happier now: I decide when to work and when to have rest on my own and I finally can allow myself travel somewhere more than once a year when I had limited vacation. I like flexibility my job offers.

If you mean SEO as in search engine optimization, forget that and go for something more challenging. Go for programming. Learn to use Linux.

I wouldn't really focus on SEO. SQL is a backend developer thing, if you're interested in front/back end development then I suggest giving Free Code Camp a try. It walks you through from beginner up to professional. You also learn by DOING which is the most important thing when learning code related skills. Reading about stuff only does so much.

If you're not really sure which direction you want to go yet, I suggest just picking up a standard starting language like python to introduce you to coding principles and open doors to all sorts of different options. A site like Udacity is useful when just starting out, you can just take the courses for free. They offer paid crap but I wouldn't worry about that yet. Of course Code Academy works fine as well. Javascript and Python are really important languages to know regardless if you're going to be developing stuff online. So it can't hurt to have some relevant experience.

Cyber security is the present and the future. There are more jobs than people with degrees.

You just need to get certified. And you can learn a great deal of it with youtube and online certifications. You probably also need some courses. Look up SQL courses. Take some online and learn how to do it.

Then once you have certs start applying for jobs. I know some people that have jobs without certs but having certs pays more.
