Tips on hanging patio string lights

This I a little off the wall thread, I know lol. But I just bought these nice string lights for my patio covering. I've had them up before, but they usually fall due to less than desirable hooks. If anyone has done this before what hooks did you use for hanging? For reference, my patio cover is one of those aluminum kind so there not much to drill into.

What kind of hooks did you use? You can tey the cheap adhesive ones but they look really tacky imo.

Yeah I used adhesive clips and they fell apart. The problem with those ones is I really have nothing to drill into except a thin sheet of metal. If there were like little screws and washers with nuts maybe but those ones aren't feasible.

With no place to drill actual hooks into I’d use gorilla tape. Just cut it into small strips.

Christmas light hooks is probably what you are looking for.

They will slip in under the siding and hold up lights. Bunch of different types.

That would be nice but idk how I'd use them. None of the roof is exposed by where the covering is

This is pretty much what it looks like
I assume you want to hand the lights underneath the roof area. What you do is find then gaps between the siding panels, and slip the clip between them.

Kinda like this

but over head.

If your roof area isn't covered with siding/soffits then you'd need screw in clips.

Yeah I just saw those. I'm wondering if I can find some nuts for those

I was lucky enough to discover this by pure accident, and I'll never go back: Velcro

If you want something to be permanently stuck, Velcro is the way to go. Definitely DO NOT put this on drywall unless you want to replace the whole wall when you take it down.
But in terms of a permanent fixture, even outside in the rain, Velcro is the best cheap option you're going to find.
