Tiring of PC gaming?

Tiring of I dunno I am a huge pc gamer but lately,

Ive really just sat down to some of the games ive bought for my consoles and neglected (halo2, gta sa, paper mario 2, metroid prime, hell even mario sunshine)

and I dunno sometimes its just nice not to have to worry about the latest driver updates, and windows crap....

Maybe im just burned out

I asked for pirates and rome total war I think those will be my last pc purchases for awhile.

I just bought Half Life 2, World of Warcraft, and Rome: Total War over the last month so I would have to say my interest has not waned.

Plus, it really isn't that tough to install new graphics drivers every month or couple months depending on your video card manufacturer. And windows update makes everything extremely easy to update windows not sure what your complaint is there.

This thread is a bit confusing though. Are you bored of PC games or bored of having to maintain your PC?

I do that from time to time, last time I caught up on a bunch of PS2 platformers and played a couple hundred games of Madden. It's nice to take a break from h4rdc0r3 l337itude of PC Gaming and play something a bit lighter every once in a while. It's like taking a break from hard liquior and just getting tanked on red wine on Valentine's Day. After a couple weeks I usually end up back playing PC games though, I just enjoy the PC experience better.

I play my games slowly...hell...the only game I finished since summer was HALO 2

I haven't purchased many PC games lately, but I see it as a platform that is getting my interest again, instead of one that is loosing it.

Yup. That's what is nice about playing both PC and console games. My interest will lean to one side or the other from time to time, so I take a rest on one and focus on the other. Usually every six months or so my interest starts switching. Right now I'm pretty split between the two with all these high profile releases. I'm sure during the Xenon launch next Fall I'll be more interested in the console side of things versus the PC side.

And don't forget buggy software that needs to be patched to sometimes install properly.

Welcome to the club, your paperwork's in the mail.

Let's not turn this into that kind of debate. For every PC game that's been patched, there's a console game that really needs to be patched.

I dunno im just so fuxing sick of fps games now (even halo 2 but not its fault)

in the last 3 years heres what ive played (owned) ALOT of

UT 99
UT 2003
UT 2004
SOF gold
BF1942
Desert combat
Doom 3
Far Cry
RTCW and ET
Counter Strike -> then SOurce
Day of Defeat
Natural Selection
Half Life 2
Halo (xbx)
and now Halo 2 (xbx)

I dunno maybe its WoW im getting burned out on also

The fact that they're on a computer makes them easier to patch, ergo developers get lazy, ergo I need to waste time downloading something to make a game work the way it should have in the first place.

Console gaming leaves more accountability on the developer and publisher to fix problems, because once those are done, they're done.

(Also, yes, if you don't like first-person shooters, you're pretty much stuck with the token non-shooting games that *might* be worth owning.)

xsarien: Whatever you say, buddy. Everything is black and white, isn't it?

Zombie: You're right, PC gaming is generally limited to 3-4 genres, so it's easier to burn out on them. If you get sick of FPSs, RTSs and MMORPGs you're out of luck. Sure there's the occasional unique title, but consoles have a better variety of software for the most part.

I know I'm in the minority, but how anyone can find Sims 2 fun is beyond me. The stuff you do in that game is a chore in real life, and I'm not big on games that rely overly on micromanagement.

It's mostly played by casuals, especially women. Hell, my sister is a Sims freak and she refuses to touch any other game. She went out and bought a gaming PC when Sims 2 came out. It's like Barbie dolls for adults.

But yeah, I hate the micromanagement. Inspite of what Nintendo might tell you, casuals don't seem to mind complexity as long as the subject matter is interesting to them.
