He's running at high resolutions as well, so VRAM becomes more important. It is known that the textures do need 3GB vram, so it is a bottleneck.

I'm sure that things will run better with new drivers though (not with insane textures though).

VRAM is VRAM, but the bottom line is that it's completely unreasonable for a GPU that costs twice as much as an Xbox One to not be able to run the game maxed out and at higher than 1080p.

Those drivers better work miracles.

Where is this new exe that bypasses the origin date check? I don't want to use the modded beta one, but I am down with the date check bypassing one?

GTX 690 has 2GB of VRAM, even though Nvidia advertises it as 4.

Same as my 590 having 1.5GB, even though they advertise 3GB.

I still think people place too much importance on VRAM, though. No reason a $1,000 GPU shouldn't be able to run the Insane textures, 3GB of VRAM or no.

it totally could run it fine, but it simply doesn't have enough space to store the textures. It has the computational power to run the game of course, but the problem is that it runs out of VRAM and has to use system ram. That's the bottleneck, not the computational power of the card.

In general, VRAM is a waste to spend extra money on, I agree. It doesn't make the card faster, but it does help in instances like this where a game uses a lot of memory for textures.

Yeah, it's kind of bad, regardless of how they cache or load things. It's not the best looking game either.

Pretty sure that's not how vram works in SLI. It would only count as 2GB.
That's what I was saying with my awkward English skills.

Seems reasonable to me. We are hitting next gen with consoles that have an insane amount of VRAM, are you honestly surprised with the higher demands? The GTX690 is a card that was not designed for the future.

Respawn would need to put in a lot of effort in to modify the engine to support better textures streaming to address a small segment of players (which can still play the game fine without insane textures). This is assuming if it is possible at all to address this problem with better textures streaming. I wouldn't know, since I'm not an expert.

When Titanfall looks like it does and runs like it does, while Battlefield 4 runs and looks like it does? You're God damn right I'm surprised.

100% agree. It's why I bought a 3GB card last fall. However, to Antitrop's point, it's unreasonable that a high-end card should have issues playing a game with ultra textures and this falls on the developers.

Was so worth sitting in line for 6 hours. Still, it's insane they're not selling the game at the midnight launch party at austin, and I cancelled my gamestop collector's edition pre-order too D:

amazon and the microsoft look to be empty, any other online retailers have stock?
Screw the shirt, I want that mini controller thingy...what is it?

It's just a bad match with the GTX690.

Even with Battlefield 4 if you have a GTX690 or a Titan, but have an average CPU. You aren't going to get a good performance either.

Alright everyone. I need you to choose the nights that work best for you. You can select multiple options. The first GAF event will be one of the first three days, but I will use the rest for future purposes.

Can we talk about Titanfall PC performance here? I know not that many people are playing yet so it might be too early to discuss this.

I have a i7 CPU and a GTX 690 GPU. Very high specs, but it doesn't seem to be enough...

I tried running the game on max settings (except AA, no AA) at 2560x1600 and it runs around 60 fps when nothing is going on. But on certain maps when crazy moments occur with lots of action and explosions, etc. the game turns into a slide show for me. Very unstable FPS.

I feel like my PC should be able to handle this with pretty solid 60 fps considering the game isn't that visually impressive relative to other PC games. Is this due to mediocre optimization by Respawn? Or is this the type of thing that could be fixed or at least get substantially better with/when new and improved drivers being released? (Similar to Tomb Raider, etc I made sure I have the most recent drivers, so it's not that)

Or, maybe I'm just overestimating my PCs specs.... I dunno.

Either way I'm gonna have to turn down some settings. Probably try changing textures first from Insane -> High. I need that smooth and steady 60 fps.

Man, your rig should be able to absolutely handle it. GTX 690 is pretty beefy, it seems to be different for everyone in the red and green sides, but what worked for me was forcing v-sync and triple buffering in RadeonPro. I was able to maintain 120fps just fine with everything maxed and AA at 2xEQ.

Prior to doing this in RadeonPro, for some reason Titanfall only allowed me to choose double buffered v-sync (the beta let me choose tripled buffering though), and it was stuttering like a mother fucker.

For reference I am on a 2500k@4.6GHz and an overclocked R9 290X playing on 2560x1440 resolution.

Twitch: "Titanfall should not be broadcast at this time without express written permission from Respawn/EA. You risk a DMCA suspension if you broadcast before 12:01am EST 3/11."

I don't remember this happening for Thief when it leaked early :(

THis is a good point as well. Is the I7 overclocked? Source games are CPU dependent as well.

True Detective and earlier the Bulls/Heat game have made things a little easier. I'm holding out as well. I don't see a reason to rush. There's no competition for fun.

Single player campaigns often are just like that, but with AI and linear maps.

Nah.. This is one is literally a MP match with different dialog. You're not going along some predetermined path.

Anyway I don't get what's up with people having PC performance issues. The game runs like butter for me. I got everything maxxed out, textures on very high, resolution 1440p and AA off and the game runs at 60fps or close to that pretty much all the time with no screen tearing(double buffer but I'm going to try radeon pro's triple buffer.)

This is on a AMD FX4100 OC'd to 4.1GHZ
Radeon HD 7870 OC'd
8GB DDR3
Win 8.1 64bit

That's what I mean. Single player campaigns can be just as meaningless. The difference is that you're playing a linear level against AI. The dialog often is delivered the same.

This game is coming out at a perfect time. I haven't really felt "into" a shooter in a long time (CoD4, MW2? I was never a Halo fan), and I've been looking for the next thing for a while.

Contemplating on going to the midnight release so I can grab both Titanfall and Dark Souls II tomorrow night, but I have to work at 8am the next day so I wouldn't get much sleep. Decisions...

So considering there has been some posts about the removal of triple buffering Vsync as an in game setting, has there been any word as to why it was removed?. Was there reports in the beta about the triple buffering option doing bad things or something?, it just seems weird to me to have it removed an option.

Campaign multiplayer seems meaningless. It's just MP with extra dialog.

That's one way to look at it, but there are some scripted events as well and I found that the overall presentation of the campaign flavor of the maps works really well with contextualizing the conflict and adding a good bit of extra tension. It's simple yet effective. It's not a substitute for a true single player campaign, but it still adds a nice layer to the overall package.

Are you under 30? Then do it man. If you're over 30 then maybe get some sleep for the long week ahead.
