Titanfall - PAX Prime intro and gameplay

Ok, I finally get what this game is. It looks freaking awesome!

If I had one major complaint it would be the core shooting looks a little too CoD, but it may work out. Also, I would have loved to see some lighter, non Titan vehicles as well.

Need something for the sequels in 2015 and 2017 and maybe 2016 and 2018 by another developer.

I never play multiplayer games - not competitive, not co-op. I'm all about single player, almost without exception.

However - much to my surprise - the more I see the more curious I become. It seems like it could be very fun even if I don't live and breathe it.

Also, I thought I'd read that there are no real-time physics in Titanfall in order to maintain 60 fps, but I swear I've seen ragdoll in a couple of recent videos.

Maybe they're handled server side?

THIS is an excellent tutorial to keep you up to speed. Heck, I haven't even touched it but I feel that I can already play the game once the controller is in my hands.

WOW that intro vid really does clarify a lot... game sounds amazing.. wall run and jet boosters, cloak and mix and match pilot, mech loadouts? Very cool

Yes from the beginning early interviews said that world physics would be handled on servers

Oh, there are definitely ragdolls.

Most of the environments seem extremely static, though. Cardboard sets for your multiplayer match movie. No dynamic destruction anywhere near the level of Battlefield. That's probably what they mean when they say there will "be no physics".

I'd be surprised if they don't make a non-convention specific version and release it to the press. It makes it clear how much more this is like an arena shooter from the 90s than it is a re-imagining of CoD.

Would Oculus Rift support be asking for too much?

That sounds like an incredibly bad idea, but I would be for it.

I feel like they're overselling the storytelling parts of the game quite a bit. Can't imagine it not ending up being repetitive and a chore to sit through every time you play that type of match.

That said, the game itself still looks great. Movement looks phenomenal, mechs having their own loadout is neat and there not being killstreaks is good news.

Titanfall could have been truly epic with some BF-like physics. As a titan, being able to smash down buildings or straight up walk over smaller things to crush them. Oh yea.

But why would they include that in the game, when people get all giggedy giggely blushy over it as it is now? I sure ain't at least.

I've been getting burnt out on competitive shooters. I don't play many anymore. This game could be the spark to get me interested in one again. Wall running, jet packs, love the verticality. Looks so fun. Hopefully the final version delivers.

I am sure they will have traditional MP matches in there to access. Yeah, I am glad about the loadout stuff (Plus weapon attachments) but no Killstreaks. Nice for it to be weapon on weapon stuff...even if your weapon is a bit Titan. :D

I wonder if they will add any content like extra story/mp stuff?

I wonder how that smart pistol works. Seems too powerful.

Also is that Tactial soldier female? Seems like Titanfall and cod ghost had the same idea.

Yeah, I think they mentioned having regular gametypes alongside the ones with story elements in them. At least I remember hearing so.

Pretty sure it only works on AI opponents. Could be wrong though.

edit: Also keep in mind Titanfall is being developed by the guys who designed the game with the dual 1887s, ACR, silenced UMP, AC-130, Chopper Gunner, Commando, and OMA Noob Tubes lol!

Yep :)

Battlefield 4 Assault class is all female too, I think.

They already mentioned it. They're asking for smooth gameplay at 60 fps. They're not aiming for visuals. Destruction is not needed for this game.

YES....I am just like you and I don't like multiplayer games, but I am now excited for this game for some reason.....enough to try it, at least....

But where would that leave the pilots??? To the Mechs everyone!!

I like BF destruction but I'm not sure it would work here.

If the game does well, I am sure they will add a certain amount of destruction for Titanfall 2. The downside to destruction is people leveling maps so soldiers have no places to jump around and wallrun away to. The game could be way more Titan focused if they did that.

Intro video/tutorial in OP did it for me. I finally see it. I see how this could very well be the next BIG thing.

I think destructibility is incredibly overrated, especially for a game like this where the levels are deliberately designed to make it easy to chain wall runs. Destroying walls/buildings would mess up the level design.

My hype for this game is starting to get crazy. Looks like a breath of fresh air after 3 years of CoD and it's influence on every other shooter from Battlefield to Halo.

I think you can only use the smart pistol against AI.

You can't make it out in that video, but every time we have seen it used previously, the score that comes up for the kill is equal to killing AI opponents.

In that introduction video the player aimed down the sights to shoot a guy that was 5 feet away :\

Face, you know my stance on ADS mechanics in this game.

Sigh.

Things that don't affect gameplay, like ragdolls, are handled client side. One of the devs was talking about it in an article the other day. I'm on mobile but I'll try to find it.

3 years? huh?

game looks like decent fun but not really revolutionary IMO. still looks and probably feels like a shooter where you control a floating camera. looks kinda ridiculous when wallrunning etc. Half-Life 2 was the last game for me that i was ok with feeling like you controlled a floating camera :/ first-person games NEED to make you feel like you are controlling a body, a character, instead of just a camera with a gun attached to it. yes even multiplayer. but that might be just me, oh well.

i bet you can't even see your feet if you look down lol.
