Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga Nears Ending

Finally.

The service continues to be bad and all the fights are basically I have beaten you with my power well it turns out my power is conveniently the perfect counter to your power.

The last chapter had a character use his special power to transfer the damage done to him by another character to that character and then the other character used his special power to transfer it back.

I'm not making this up.

It's not coming back this late.
What do you mean? They could announce a new anime at any time. They did it for Fairy Tale, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Hunter x Hunter.

Would someone be nice enough to give me the cliffnotes version of the arc? Does the fact that we're dealing with quincies mean Ishida does shit?

I stopped reading shortly after the Soul Society arc.

In retrospect, the whole series was trash. Worse than Naruto, it only looks cooler. One-dimensional characters, main character does everything, pointless power-ups out of nowhere and story seemingly repeating itself. Who's gonna get kidnapped next?!

Chapter: I have struck a killing blow!
Next chapter: Actually your killing blow did not kill me in fact I am completely fine IN FACT it's exactly what I wanted you to do and you doing that has made me even more powerful

I think it only fair you suffer as we did.
He has done shit until recently. And what little he has done has been...laughable.

2. Karakura and SS were both great arcs i thought. I honestly liked it better when it was relegated to just the town, but i never objected to finding more about SS. The Aizen thing just took it in a direction that ended up destroying any more potential it could have had.

I count those as the same arc, so yeah.

I followed Bleach up to a point. Does it still have batshit insane sword powers that distort the rules of reality? I liked that part. Fights were bullshit, but seeing the different sword forms was pretty neat.

those were all mega popular, Bleach has been circling the drain at the bottom of the Jump rankings for years now

There are Nazi's, leader of Nazi's becomes god of the universe. Nobody can do anything. Shinigami fight Nazi God underlings for 5 billion meaningless chapters.

Ishida pretends to defect to Nazi god's ranks, does nothing for 4 years, then finally reveals he was a good guy the whole time. Also, Ichigo gets wrecked right after he gets a power up, again.

On the plus side, Rukia bae got a sweet ass bankai, you go girl <3

I stopped reading at this final arc
It was getting pathetic, extremely formulaic and obvious.

I can't even remember what fight it was, I think it was Mayuri's.

One of my favorite Mangas transformed into such a disappointment.

FMA had plenty of cannon material to compared to the old anime.

HXH is a bigger series that sells on the level of Naruto when it's actually out. HXH had to get OVA to cover and ending to an arc and another because of Togashi hiatus.

FT is the biggest Kondasha series in it's magazine, of course it has to keep an anime going.

Bleach popularity has fallen since the Aizen crap, the anime dvd's stop selling(so the anime was canned and replaced with a Naruto SD anime), ratings were bad. It could have had an announcement for it coming back during this arc already, I really don't see it happening in the final bit.

The initial premise of Bleach was so up my alley: an urban fantasy story about death and loss and moving on, with a cool art style and neat characters. Ichigo and Rukia had a nice duo dynamic. And look at that anime OP!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVaKesaMDkA

That still looks great. Why couldn't Bleach have been that?

People say it went downhill after Soul Society but honestly it started going downhill when that started as far as I'm concerned, because that's when it stopped being all that stuff I just said and turned into a save-the-girl shonen in a weird old-Japan setting. But at least the Soul Society arc was a decent execution of its idea, even if it wasn't the thing I got into Bleach to see. Everything since has been hot fucking garbage.

No, he's only NOW doing something.

It's sad Orihime had more of a presence in her arc than Ishida and her character went fucking nowhere that arc.

SS was the highlight for a lot of people because it was fresh. But looking back at it objectively, yeah, karakura town arc was far superior as a setting.

I could have had Ichigo and Rukia play off of each other the entire manga like they did early on in the small town setting, trying to find Grand fisher as the big bad for the whole manga, and it would have been significantly better than all the shini hollow arrancar quincy nonsense we have had.

Similar to how the Buu arc of DBZ got a Kai version primarily due to Western interest, I wouldn't be surprised if the last arc got an anime adaption due to Western interest or funding. Not saying it will happen but I think there are potentially influencing factors outside just what Shonen Jump or Pierrot or whoever would want to do.

Stopped reading after the Arrancar Arc, thought it was gonna cap off the series... and then it just kept going. I thought 'fuck this I'm out', I just couldn't be bothered anymore.

Can't believe it's still going.

That's what drew me into Bleach initially, if it had stayed like that and had a shorter run it would have been a great series, but it just completely jumped the shark and Kubo started pulling ideas out of his ass.

DBZ KAI I bet is WAY more cheaper to do, than animating Bleach final arc.

DBZ is huge in America, it's asinine to compare.

And if Ichigo doesn't end up with Orihime, I'll riot. He'll probably end up with Rukia and Orihime will pair with Chad or Uryu.

I can't see him ending up with Rukia. She has her duty in Soul Society and Ichigo needs to go live out the rest of his life. It'll either be Orihime or no one is my prediction.

I just dont see why jump would bother promoting a dead manga when they could be getting more seasons for better manga that has more interest like Hero Academia or newer series which would probably yield better returns.

Out of everything ive read in jump bleach had the premise which hit most of my notes.
I mean Samurai death gods>>>>.

Ichigo can't live a normal life, that's what the timeskip was trying to portray. He wanted to convince himself of that, but he knew deep down that he wanted, needed to be a shinigami who protected people, that was what he aspired to the whole time more than anything.

Generally speaking, human and shinigami relationships are def not off the table regardless of the previous fact.

Shows like Big O II, GITS: SAC, Space Dandy, Dimension W, the upcoming FLCL sequels, etc. are all examples of shows that had a moderate to significant influx of Western money into their production and it was this money that was a factor in getting those shows made. My argument is there are parties in the West, one of them being Adult Swim, that might be interested in getting the rest of the manga animated. I'm not going to conjecture how likely it actually is but I don't believe it to be an impossibility in the least.

Ugh, that is such fucking bullshit. Ishida has always been the most potentially interesting of Ichigo's friends, and this Nazi Quincy business would have been a great jumping off point for a lot of character drama between the two, and they do NOTHING with it?

To be fair, there was like half a chapter of Drama. The gang and Ishida meet up at one point and Ichigo is like "ARE U RLY A BAD GAI ISHIDA", and Ishida is like "KUROSAKI GO HOME", and Ichigo is like "NO ISHIDA, UR MY FRIEND NO" and then they get seperated. But the gang kinda assume he was a good guy anyway who had his own reasons for being there, so really not much drama.

Yeah its dumb, but that's what happend.

Ichigo yelled at him once...that's something. Also Orihime got a ridiculous boob window outfit which just makes me think Kubo finds her very important character now. /s

It wouldn't be a Shonen manga if the book didn't expand upon it's simple premise.

But I to missed when this series started off as a urban fantasy Ghostbusters.

Maybe Kubo can finally realize his true calling: pure character design and MMO outfit design work, without worrying about attaching a story to it. Get him on some game just drawing fashion-plate heroes and supermodels all day and let someone else handle the rest.

Of course it is. The ratings and volume sales aren't remotely as good as yesteryear.

Also if they were ever planning to make another anime, they probably would have announced it here.

Maybe it would have been less annoying if they had not turned everyone into DBZ characters just to get into SS

Figured as much, will probably end at chapter 700, like Naruto, since Ichigo is now
fighting the king of trolls that manipulates fates or something
.

And then we'll probably see a Bleach Kai with final arc without fillers (lol yeah right).

I haven't read bleach in years, but I remember this being Kubo's problem in a nutshell. He sets up a conflict, and doesn't really develop it, he just has Ichigo finally end it after a while. In the meantime, he just throws a bunch of random characters as micro enemies.

His Soul Society arc is regarded because it was at the start, meaning Ichigo's team was small (just his basic group) and we were still exploring a new world, so we didn't much mind that we were taking all these sorts of detours from the main conflict. But the signs were all there. Byakuya is ultimately is a very passive villain, whose just sitting around waiting for the arc to finish because...that's what he does.

The Arancar arc is more problematic. Becuase now Ichigo's group encompasses all of the previous SS 'bad guys', while Kubo keeps making new enemies for the group to fight before we get to the top 10 Arrancar or whatever, and it just draaaaaaaags.

He shifted gears for the fullbringer villians, but no one liked that arc anyway for other reasons, because at this point, he couldn't hide he wasn't all that great at characterization.

I stopped reading sometime around the quincy arc started. I had hoped, with Ishida being the cool rival character, we'd get some good stuff out of it, but nope, it sounds like the same old shit. Introduce epic conflict, and then pull the fucking drag shoot by bloating the storyline with dozens of pointless enemy characters before you get to the conflict you put on hold up until now.

It's a shame.

I should maybe one day read past the fullbringer arc. Anime's never happening. If it was happening, they would have announced it by now. Bleach was fun, even fillers were fun but Kubo should have ended it at Aizen. It begun at Aizen and it should have ended there.

Up until then all the designs had been pretty cool but then this design straight from a 12 year old scene girl's notebook cover showed up, and I knew Bleach had gone to complete shit.

More than that, Ichigo and Rukia's relationship has always been written in a pretty freaking platonic/brother-sister sort of way. It actually kinda baffles me as to how they're such a popular pairing in the fandom because I really don't see it.

Having said that, yeah, Ichigo and Orihime are gonna end up together imo. Hopefully the payoff there turns out to be at least somewhat decent.

I just find it funny cause even with Ishida on the opposite side, everyone knew that he obviously wasn't a bad person. So Kubo just threw his hands up and made one chapter dedicated to fake drama about Ichigo and the gang finding out he was with bach, then immediately ditched it.

It was the same in HM where he created hyped around Inoue erasing the Hongyokou, which later turned out to be nothing and she was just there as bait to lure everyone else there, and he had no plans for her whatsoever.

Kubo's entire schtick relies on dropping entire plot points he previously has set up on a dime just because he loses interest, or doesn't know a proper way to develop it.

Oh I didn't think Ichigo would stop being a shinigami. That'll always be him. I just don't think he's gonna move to Soul Society and leave his sisters and friends behind. I also don't think Rukia is gonna abandon her duties and go live in the human world.

Also, have Rukia and Ichigo even really had any emotional scenes together since the Soul Society arc? I honestly can't remember. Seems like they always get separated and never meet up.
